Warm, Friendly, meticulous, patient.The manager is also very warm, friendly and attentive to the guests. All the staff are very warm and friendly to the guests. Help me a lot.There is a self-service kitchen, dining room, bar, movie theater. There are other facilities.It is my favorite hostel. Will stay again next time.

|0.19km from city centreMy daughter and I stayed in a twin room for a night while we visited York University. The Hotel staff were warm and welcoming. They were kind and helpful and more than happy to let us leave our luggage there as we were too early for check in. The main lobby area is just like it looks in the photos. There is comfortable seating, a bar and a place to get food. The rooms are clean, comfortable and feel new. The whole place felt modern and fresh. It was a 15minute taxi ride from the station and a 5/6 minute walk to The Shambles area in York where there are loads of restaurants and cafes. I literally have nothing bad to say about it. We will be back to stay again hopefully in September.

It is best to arrive at the hotel before 7 pm, otherwise the door will be closed. Find the staff in charge of breakfast, you can have laundry service, 5 pounds. The nearby supermarket is very convenient and the room is spacious. The light is very good and I saw the fire cloud. The shower room is very narrow, and it is estimated that it is very inconvenient for the big man to use. Hand sanitizer hand soap and body soap are provided.

The hotel did run out of hand wash and shower gel in the room. Upon asking for a refill I was told they ran out of hand wash but brought in 2 tiny shower gel tubes instead.
The card on the bed was dirty and had blotted stains of what I think was food.
Should have changed it as it was placed on the bed.
The hotel itself is very beautiful though and we didn't have any other issues there.

However, there is need to improve where dinner is served as it is just like in the reception area with chairs and tables not meant for dinner. The first day looked like there was less preparation for guests as other guests together with us were frustrated after making orders only to wait too long to be told that the choice was not available. Otherwise the staff are sociable and ready to help and serve.

No one waited for more than 10 minutes. Others were waiting. There was no elevator. I helped to get it up (4th floor) Check out and wait for no one to hang down by themselves. It took a long time for someone to check out. Living in the attic is a bit cold. The quilt is not warm enough. The spare parts are good.

The taps were separated hot water and cold water, and yet the hot water was either not hot enough or very hot.
It was closed to those key spots so I could reach them on foot, and yet there was a pub right opposite to the hotel, so it would be a bit noisy at night time.
Breakfast buffet was acceptable for its price.

The room we had used a shared bathroom which was fine to use however it was a walk down some stairs which are carpeted not most hygenic. The fire alarm went off at 6am and it did take owner 7 minutes to arrive to response and check. After this we were able to return to rooms for rest. The hotel is 35 mins walk from centre of York lovely when a nice day.

最不滿意的是，發現房間是一個semi-ensuite，馬桶不在房間裏，衹有淋浴在房間裏，但預訂的時候沒有任何訊息提示。

We had a mini fridge with water and milk in, tea coffee facilities etc. iron, hairdryer. Unfortunately we didn’t think the beds or pillows were very comfy. Very large bed but it was 2 beds put together and me and my partner could feel the gap between the beds! Not what we expected.
The venue is absolutely stunning! We had the best time. All staff were friendly polite and welcoming.
The food was excellent. We had pork/chicken/beef over 2 courses then a cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious!

But after checking my bank account the day after I noticed the hotel had taken £50.00 from my account.
When I called to check, I was told it was a deposit to protect against damage to the room.
I was not made aware this was being taken and did not give any authority for them to take the payment.
I found this very concerning and I now have to wait a few days to receive the refund.
So please be warned before booking..

Though it is an old hotel, it is not outdated at all and makes you feel good. The location is prime and there are lots of restaurants nearby and it only take a few minutes to walk to different attractions in York. The only downside is that there is a staircase in front and it will take you some energy if you bring along a large luggage.
