Warm, Friendly, meticulous, patient.The manager is also very warm, friendly and attentive to the guests. All the staff are very warm and friendly to the guests. Simply put, it really exceeded expectations. Because I thought it was a fast hotel, but overall the service was good and the family room facilities were relatively complete. From the train station, I walked around half a city. When I left the station, I turned left and passed the cathedral, and then turned right to the meat shop street. The hotel was opposite the city wall. The overall experience is good.

Traveled with friends and booked three rooms. We had a very satisfying stay. It's about a 5-minute walk from Shambles and just a 1-minute walk from the new York Ghost Merchants store. The hotel has a trendy, youthful design and a lively atmosphere. On the ground floor, there are arcade games, a pool table, and foosball. Our kids absolutely loved it and didn't want to leave.

For the money the room was top notch big plus points being a great shower, kitchenette with fridge and the rooms own iron and board . Staff also a pleasure to deal with, allowed us to store our luggage both before check in and after check out so we could enjoy some time in York. Genuinely can't fault this place, and great value for money.

Although it feels like a very old house, it's been beautifully maintained! The house is absolutely stunning! All the furniture, bathroom fixtures, and hardware are of high quality. The towels are incredibly soft, so I loved them. It seems to have been renovated. (Before moving in, I was worried about the lack of cleanliness and darkness in old houses, but there were absolutely no issues here.) The breakfast was also excellent, and the staff were very nice.

Very elegant old-style villa, the breakfast is very rich and delicious, the stay is also very comfortable, and the cost performance is super high! Such a fun and beautiful hotel! Our room was beautifully decorated and furnished and was so quiet. Bed was quite comfortable. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was delicious. The Galtres... A perfect place to stay in York. Location is great, central, surrounded by pubs, shops, bars, restaurant, a few steps from York Minster, couple of minutes walk to the Shambles, 13 minute walk from the train station. Our room was spotless, checking in was easy, arrived 3 hours early, but room was ready so accessed that straight away. Little bit quirky, I guess no two rooms the same, old fireplace, massive mirrors and a Wimbledon wicker basket at decor. Breakfast was amazing, gorgeous food, great selection and waiting staff always happy to help. Didn't eat there at other times, but the restaurant always looked busy inside and out. Two minor faults, could have squoze a small dressing table/desk into the room, and be prepared for a small amount of noise in the morning with delivery vehicles around, not a big problem though. I would definitely visit again, and recommend anyone visiting York to look at this place as somewhere really nice to stay.

We stayed here for a wedding. The room itself was prefect. (Family room) Large bathroom and very spacious bedroom area. We had a mini fridge with water and milk in, tea coffee facilities etc. iron, hairdryer. Unfortunately we didn’t think the beds or pillows were very comfy. Very large bed but it was 2 beds put together and me and my partner could feel the gap between the beds! Not what we expected. The venue is absolutely stunning! We had the best time. All staff were friendly polite and welcoming. The food was excellent. We had pork/chicken/beef over 2 courses then a cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious!

When I called to check, I was told it was a deposit to protect against damage to the room. I was not made aware this was being taken and did not give any authority for them to take the payment. I found this very concerning and I now have to wait a few days to receive the refund. So please be warned before booking..

The boss and his wife were warm and thoughtful, helping to move things, because they checked out later by train, and they readily agreed.
