This time, my Trip.com booking was a bit odd, split into two parts, so I guess I'll write a bit more. The executive lounge service was excellent, and the coffee was great! As for the room, after the upgrade, it was incredibly spacious! From one direction, you could even see the Ping An Finance Centre, Shenzhen's tallest landmark. A small detail, it seems the hair dryer has been upgraded to a Dyson, which is quite good. One evening, I got back late, so I just had a quick bite at the Japanese restaurant on the 6th floor, which was surprisingly good. The ingredients seemed very fresh, and I didn't feel heavy after eating. Breakfast at the 29th-floor executive lounge lasts a bit longer than the 6th-floor, until 11 AM. After my morning workout, I went up at exactly 11 AM, which was a bit late, but Ms. Carrie was very patient and asked the chef to make me an omelette, which was very kind. In terms of areas for improvement, I think the sauna and steam facilities could use some attention. The switch for releasing water into the sauna is incorrectly labeled, which I only figured out on my last day. There also appears to be some water leakage when the switch is pressed to produce the water in the sauna.

The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the golf course, and the large bathtub on the balcony was great for a soak in the evening. However, I didn't dare use it during the day due to a lack of privacy. Golf hotels generally tend to be less crowded, quiet, and safe, guaranteeing good room and dining quality. On the downside, the complimentary snacks in the minibar seemed unhealthy. Also, the 100 RMB dining voucher required a minimum spend of 200 RMB, which wasn't ideal; it would have been better not to offer it at all. Perhaps because the air conditioning in the room and throughout the hotel was set quite high, there was a damp smell when I first entered the room, and the air purifier wasn't working. In the morning, since the room was above the restaurant, I could actually smell faint cooking odors on the balcony, instead of the natural scent of the grass, which was a bit disappointing. Sometimes, the noise from the lawnmowers was quite loud. The hotel lobby bar had some real books for quiet reading, which was a nice touch. There were some things I liked about Sentosa Hotel, but unfortunately my overall experience was disappointing.
The room was very spacious, although a little dated. When we arrived, the room type we had booked was unavailable, so the hotel upgraded us to a better room, which I really appreciated. Our room had a wardrobe and a bathtub, and the view of the city from the bathroom was absolutely amazing.
The hotel also has a large swimming pool, which was one of the reasons I chose it. However, one day we went swimming and there were no towels available. You are also not allowed to take the pool towels back to your room. A swimming cap is required, although this is quite common in China, so I don’t consider that a major issue.
The room had a stove, which initially seemed very convenient, but there were no pots or other cookware provided, making the stove essentially useless. There was also no washing machine. The internet was another major problem — the connection was extremely poor and sometimes barely worked even with Chinese websites.
The most disappointing part of our stay happened on our check-out day. Our confirmed check-out time was 14:00, but the hotel called us early in the morning and told us that we needed to leave the room immediately because of an “emergency situation.” They did not seem concerned that our agreed check-out time was several hours later. I later found out that the supposed emergency was actually related to a meeting/event being held at the hotel, and guests were being asked to leave their rooms early because of it. I found this extremely unprofessional and stressful. After discussing it with the hotel, we eventually reached an agreement that allowed us some time, but this experience significantly affected my rating.
The location is also fairly quiet. There is a 7-Eleven nearby, but not much else within the immediate area. I didn’t find any shopping malls or tourist attractions nearby. There is a park, but otherwise there isn’t much to do. On the positive side, the metro station is only around a 7–10 minute walk away, so getting to other parts of Shenzhen is relatively convenient.
Overall, the hotel has some strong points: spacious rooms, a large pool, good metro access, and potentially fantastic city views. I was also grateful for the room upgrade. However, the extremely poor internet, lack of basic kitchen equipment, limited surroundings, and especially the way the hotel handled our check-out made the stay much less enjoyable than it could have been.From£48

Overseas Chinese Town Shenzhen|7.6km from city centre
This was our first trip staying away from home after having a baby. We booked the InterContinental last minute without looking at too many reviews. The most important thing for us was seeing comments that they provide a crib and bed rails, so we just went for it. When we arrived, it really lived up to its reputation as a family-friendly hotel! It was great!
It's about 95% baby-friendly. You hear kids' voices everywhere, and the place is bustling with people, so we didn't feel too much pressure when our baby occasionally cried. Despite the hustle and bustle, it was quiet in our room. The corridors were very wide, and even with many guests, the corridors leading to the rooms were surprisingly quiet.
It's friendly for young babies. After we noted it in our booking, the front desk proactively arranged for a crib and bed rails on both sides of the main bed. The bathroom has a bathtub, so if your little one doesn't want to go to the public pool, they can still 'swim' in the room. The view from the room's window was lovely, with lush green trees. The pool was so beautiful that even someone like me, who doesn't particularly enjoy swimming, felt an urge to quickly buy a swimsuit and dive in. Riding the mini-train felt a bit like 'It's a Small World' at Disneyland.
However, there were quite a few things to complain about:
1. After taking the elevator from the hotel down to the pool, there were several steps. It wasn't an accessible route, which made pushing the stroller up and down quite troublesome.
2. Outside the gym, in the fishpond corridor leading to the barber shop/restaurant, there was a height difference in the floor. This could easily have been made into a gentle slope, but it wasn't. This uneven step tripped several people, and I witnessed it twice.
3. The front desk kindly offered a complimentary upgrade to a suite, but the walk down the long corridor was exhausting. One section of the corridor had many red LED-lit ox figures hanging on one side, which felt like it was suppressing something. The sea salt or whatever was placed in the corridor also felt like some kind of ritual. Coupled with the room's deep red carpet and black/red as the dominant colors, it felt a bit creepy. (Sorry, maybe I've just watched too many international horror movies).
4. A small sign in the room stated that takeout food had to be picked up a short walk away, and suggested we order from the hotel's dining options. So, we ordered room service that night. The food looked exquisite in the menu photos, but what arrived was so bad it was an embarrassment to the hotel. The next day, we couldn't stand it and walked the long corridor ourselves to pick up takeout.
5. At lunchtime, we went to the hotel's Chinese restaurant, Huashan. There was no one to greet us at the main entrance. We walked in and couldn't find anyone. A server walked out, saw us, pretended not to, and then turned back inside. I was genuinely confused, wondering if it was even open. We walked a bit further and finally saw two servers at the cashier. I asked if they were open. One lady replied, ”This is the Chinese restaurant.” And then quietly looked at me. I was truly speechless (did I ask that question?). Fortunately, another quick-witted lady promptly took over, asking how many people were dining and proactively led us to our table. The food at the restaurant was good, though.
Overall, the experience just wasn't one you could describe as completely satisfying. Like life, I suppose, there's beauty amidst the imperfections.From£91

I brought my four children to this hotel for a three-day relaxing trip to mark the end of their summer vacation. We drove for 4 hours from Chimelong, Guangzhou, to Dapeng Bay, Shenzhen, arriving around 6:15 PM. We had booked two rooms, one of which was a 'Supreme Seaview King Room - Full Seaview' on the 6th floor. However, upon checking in, I found that the 'seaview' was largely obscured by trees and foliage, with only small glimpses of the sea visible through gaps in the branches. It felt more like a 'courtyard seaview room' to me.
I expressed my dissatisfaction to the hotel, but they initially insisted that it was indeed a 'Supreme Seaview' room, emphasizing that the 'full seaview' aspect referred to its direct orientation towards the sea, not necessarily how much of the sea you could actually see. After I made it clear I was very unhappy with their wordplay, they offered to show me slightly better views on the 7th floor of the same building or the 6th floor of an adjacent building for a possible room change.
I waited for 30 minutes for a staff member to take me to view the alternative rooms. When they finally arrived, the elevator we were supposed to take was malfunctioning; it could only go down. After missing one elevator, we had to go to the ground floor to catch another one up to the 7th floor. Each floor only has two elevators, and the walk through the corridor to the room took 3-4 minutes each time.
Once on the 7th floor, I was still not satisfied with the room. Thinking the hotel was at least trying to resolve the issue, I wanted to compare it with a room on the 6th floor of the other building to make a final decision among the three. However, the staff member told me they could only carry one key at a time to show rooms. This meant I would have to go back to my original room, wait for them to get another key, and then go through the whole process again.
After waiting for a long time in my room, the front desk called again, reiterating that my current room was a 'Supreme Seaview' room, with the emphasis on 'full view' rather than 'seaview'. Seeing my continued disagreement, they then offered to upgrade me to another room on the same floor. I agreed and waited for the front desk's arrangements, but after another unknown period of waiting, the front desk called back again to explain that it was indeed a 'Supreme Seaview room' and that no upgrade rooms were available at that time.
During all this, my four children were waiting hungry in the other room. The entire ordeal lasted until almost 8 PM. In over an hour, I had only seen one alternative room; the rest of the time was spent waiting for the hotel's response. The hotel's contingency plans for problem-solving were inadequate, and their proposed solutions kept changing. I continued to communicate until 8 PM, when the situation was finally ended with the statement, 'the hotel reserves the right of final interpretation.'
Furthermore, during our three-day stay, the hotel never once followed up on our dissatisfaction or the unpleasantness caused by their delayed handling. I've always trusted the 'Marriott' brand, but this experience left me extremely disappointed.From£82

First off, the check-in time was indeed quite long, but it's understandable given it was peak summer season. They even offered drinks while we waited, which was a nice touch! As an InterContinental member, I also received two complimentary drinks at the bar.
The hotel's facilities are excellent. I went for a spa treatment while my child and husband went swimming – a perfect arrangement. As soon as I finished my spa, the butler notified me that our room key was ready! There was also a welcome fruit platter in the room.
The room's view was absolutely unbeatable! We truly felt at home and enjoyed every moment.
However, I actually found the breakfast to be even better than the dinner buffet. The oil-splashed noodles at breakfast were delicious 😋, and the chef who made them had such character, clearly demonstrating his passion for food. I really admire him! Thumbs up to him! 👍
For dinner, the seafood wasn't very fresh; the oysters and crab meat were quite loose. Plus, on the second night, we wanted to try the Southeast Asian restaurant, but upon arrival, many dishes were unavailable, which was a bit disappointing, so we left to eat elsewhere. Also, the restaurant closes at 9:30 PM.
Overall, having stayed at this hotel over 10 years ago, returning now with my child, I still highly recommend it! The pool and beach are amazing, offering great privacy for guests! We will definitely be back 😊From£142

🏨 Well-Located and Well-Maintained Stay at Kempinski Shenzhen
Kempinski Shenzhen enjoys a very convenient location, making it a great choice for both business and leisure travellers.
The hotel has been operating for around 20 years, so some parts of the property do show their age. However, I was impressed by how well maintained everything is. The overall condition remains clean, comfortable and well cared for.
While the design may not feel as modern as some of the newer hotels in Shenzhen, the hotel still offers the quality, comfort and service expected from the Kempinski brand.
Overall, a solid choice if you value a great location, reliable service and a well-maintained hotel. It may be an older property, but it has been maintained very well over the years.

My stay at the Shenzhen Fu Lin Hotel was excellent. The hotel boasts a prime location right next to Luohu Port and Shenzhen Railway Station, making cross-border travel and train journeys incredibly convenient. The hotel itself is grand and impressive, exuding the classic charm of an established star-rated hotel. The lobby is spacious and bright, and all public areas are clean and tidy. The front desk staff were gentle and polite, handling check-in and check-out procedures quickly and smoothly. They were also patient and thorough in answering any questions, providing thoughtful and attentive service.
I stayed in a Superior King Room, which was spacious and impeccably clean, with excellent attention to detail in hygiene. The room had great natural light, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. All in-room amenities were complete and well-maintained; the bathroom had consistent water pressure, and the Wi-Fi was fast. Standing by the window, I enjoyed a pleasant city view. The hotel also offers dining and leisure areas, making daily life convenient during my stay.
For a hotel located so close to the border, the value for money in this area is outstanding. It saves a lot of time and effort for travel, making it perfect for both business trips and commutes to and from Hong Kong. I will definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Luohu next time.
