Extremely Rude Landlord - avoid this place - such a shame as it has the makings of a wonderful place. It is dirty and shabby inside and out - doesn’t serve food and if you want a 1/2 the answer is NO. I said I’ll have a pint then and a small empty glass to poor some lager into but the landlord refused very rudely to do that. Interestingly the few people sat outside were all complaining of the ridiculous rule. We took our business elsewhere- walking 100 yards up the road to the busy Craven Arms where we received the most wonderful friendly welcome

Such a delight. We were made very welcome, the room was spotless and comfortable with luxurious little touches. Really lovely toiletries, a pod coffee machine and fresh milk in the fridge. Quirky and delightful. Very enjoyable stay and the views are phenomenal. Yorkshire at its best.

Four of us have enjoyed 2 nights at The New inn. Sarah and Graham were great hosts. They are working incredibly hard to upgrade the pub and they deserve to do well. Loved it so much we’re going back in September and can’t wait to enjoy the beautiful views and well kept beers again.

A very different stay but a delight - hosts Graham and Sarah great company, hugely interesting and very kind. The King size at the front has incredible views and a wonderful bed. Best of all here is the beers - an incredible range and beautifully kept. Bar closes at 7 but the Craven a 100m up the roas is also a legendarily good beer and food pub.

Not serving beer in half glasses in a village where most folk will drive to is economic suicide. The contrast in visible customers with the other pub a couple of hundred yards up the road proves the point. The landlords gobby attitude is the other reason. Having beer kept In wooden casks only is a great unique selling point . However, I'll not be visiting to experience that again. A pub with massive potential let down by the owner. Pleaee take this constructive criticism on board if you want to remain open this time next year.

Some friends of mine live at Thorpe and when they have a party and I get invited which has happened once or twice hence I stay at the New Inn in Appletreewick. Graham, the landlord and he’s good lady have always made me feel extremely welcome. The room has got good facilities king-size bed, extremely clean and tidy stunning views. I find the price is what I would expect for a quality country pub of this calibre. They have an absolute belting bar good food and a cracking atmosphere. 10/10

If you like a pint of Yorkshire ale (a pint mind - not a half - you will be told that in no uncertain terms at the bar - if you get that far…), if you don’t mind being accosted as soon as you arrive and told that you can park in the carpark while you’re in the pub but if you’re planning on hiking afterwards you can, er… take a hike, if you like plain-speaking (Ok, plain rude) Yorkshire folk then this might be the place for you. Anyone else should carry on/go back 200m to the Craven Arms, where they understand the meaning of hospitality. How (and why) the New Inn is still open I do not know…

The area is popular with walkers but the Pub shuts at 7PM as I guess the trade drops off. We arrived after 9pm with no one from the establishment around. Unfortunately we had no bottom sheet on our bed, so had to find the linen cupboard for a fresh sheet. There was also no crockery or spoons in the room, just disposable paper coffee cups and wooden stirrers. The seal on the shower door was also torn from one end at the base, resulting in a puddle on the floor every time you showered. For the cost per night I would have hoped for a little more care and attention.
