A wonderful hotel located in the old part of wonderful Baku.
From the metro to the hotel it is only 5 minutes on foot. Near the hotel there are all the necessary grocery stores, as well as a wide variety of cafes and restaurants.
Our room was huge - executive, with a balcony. The room has TV, telephone, coffee machine (which really didn’t work). Shampoo, shower gel, conditioner and body cream are provided in the bath. They also give you a washcloth.
Breakfast is a good buffet. There is always something to eat.
Very nice and polite staff, everyone speaks Russian. Cleaning and change of towels daily.
The only disappointment was that the hotel is located in a high multi-storey building, but the hotel itself is only on the first 3 floors :) so don’t expect a good view of the flame towers from your room :)
And everything is fine. I recommend.

There are at least 4 Sapphire Hotels in Baku (Sapphire, Sapphire Inn, Sapphire City, Royal Sapphire), so it can get a little confusing. But the Sapphire Inn, where I stayed, is OK. Admittedly, it looks a lot better online than in reality, but it still has lots of good aspects. The location is excellent, easy walking to Old City, waterfront or center. I got room 314, an enormous, old-style space with rather faded beige carpet and hideous gold wallpaper - but space is good and the bed was really comfortable. My bathroom was in very good shape, clean tiles, large rainshower, good hot water and soft towels. The phone did not work and wifi in the room was weak. Breakfast was rather "non-European", with olives, tomatoes and cheese, but wonderful dairy (yoghurt, cream and kaymak to die for !). Some fresh juice and eggs (other than boiled) would be nice. Also, the hotel caters for large tourist groups : when they invaded the breakfast room, it was hard to find a seat and the staff struggled to keep the buffet up-to-date. I found all staff, at reception, room service and restaurant, to be super friendly.

In total we spent five nights in the hotel. Our first arrival was in the early hours of the morning - the member of staff on reception spoke English well and checked us in very quickly. The room was huge with a seating area and a little kitchenette. The staff in the hotel were great - they were very helpful, friendly and quickly responded to requests.

Don’t believe the pictures. While they aren’t inaccurate, the lighting in the posted pictures makes the room look a lot less old than it actually is. Once you are in the hotel and room, it smells really musty and once you turn on the lights, there is a weird smell. The room was boiling hot for 2 days and they claimed that they did not want to turn on the aircon cause the weather was cooler. This is despite all the guests complaining to the hotel.

Very bad customer service. There was no bell boy available at the hotel. First they provide us a room which was already occupied. Once we opened the room we were really embarrassed. House keeping was available only till 6pm. They didn’t clean my room even I put to make up my room light. Then I asked for water they didn’t provide me and informed me that there is no more water and can be provided next day morning once the house keeping start their duty. Breakfast was with very limited items.
