My family and I recently spent 3 relaxing days at the Veerdency resort. The property is around 35 Km from the Hebbal flyover (about 8 Km beyond where you get off the highway to take the turn into the Bangalore airport). There are cottages that house 4 rooms designed for double occupancy. A third person (child/adult) can sleep on the bed-like unit that is part of the room. The Veerdency is a relatively new property, staffed by a mix of experienced personnel and newbies. It only serves vegetarian food, which suited us fine. The food was good and over the weekend, they have a decent buffet. They are geared to provide Jain cuisine as well, if that's something you are particular about. If you plan to get there in your own car, there's enough parking space. The rooms are clean and well-maintained and has the basic amenities one expects (including a kettle and provision to make onself a cup of coffee/tea). There are some "rough edges" around service, but I am sure that as the staff gains experience, these will be sorted. The property has plenty of greenery (lawns, flowering plants and trees); as the trees grow taller and the foliage gets thicker, the setting will be even more idyllic. In the morning (say between 6:00 and 9:00 a m), you can hear (and see) plenty of birds. We also got to see a few squirrels and lots of chameleons! Given that the property is not very far from the airport, you can easily get to see 20 commercial flights taking off in a three hour window (say from 7:00 am to 10:00 am). I love watching aircraft fly, so this was a bonus for me. :) The large water body just outside the property makes for a pleasant walk, both in the morning and around 5:30 p m. For those who want to play badminton and cricket, there is enough space, but don't expect a court or a ground. Indoor games such as table tennis, carom board etc. are available in a large hall that you can also use to play antakshari if you have enough enthusiastic people staying there at the time. Weekends are much busier (both due to guests who come in on Friday evening and leave on Monday morning and walk-in diners at the restaurant). So if you can take a break mid-week and don't really mind not having too ***y people around, that may be a better option. The rooms have DTH satellite TV connectivity (Tata Play), but only a limited number of channels are available. But then, if you have the app, you're set (they have good wi fi connectivity in the rooms). The owners (whom I had the chance to meet during my stay) have plans to add children's activities and a bunch of other things over time. Overall, my family and I had a nice time at Veerdency. My thanks to the entire staff that worked hard (and with a smile) to ensure that we all had a pleasant stay and created some fond memories. PS: We are teetotalers, so the fact that alcohol is not served at Veerdency was not a big deal for us....
