We stayed one night at Apex City of Bath Hotel. The location is excellent, and the night‑shift manager was quick to respond when we raised our complaint, however our overall experience was really poor because of repeated hygiene problems with the beds. It was nearly 11 pm and we were ready for sleep, when we discovered mould‑like marks on the bed sheets in our original room. We contacted the duty manager straight away, and we were moved to a different room without delay. Unfortunately, on arriving at the new room, we found hair left on the fresh bed sheets. We were exhausted and very late in the evening; otherwise we would have asked to check out entirely. A member of staff then came to replace the full set of bedding for us. During the bedding change, further issues were uncovered: visible yellow stains on the mattress underneath, and yellow stains also on the duvet itself. While the staff tried their best to resolve the situation at such a late hour, it is unacceptable for a 4‑star hotel to have multiple bedding‑related cleanliness failures across two separate rooms. We felt uncomfortable for the rest of our night. We hope the hotel will carry out a full review of its housekeeping standards and mattress / duvet condition.

The location is incredibly convenient. It's only a few minutes' walk to the train station, and even closer to the Roman Baths and the Abbey – just a three-minute stroll. The breakfast was excellent, and the service was great too.

This hotel is part of a chain, so you can count on the quality being consistent across the board. Its prime location in the heart of the old town makes it incredibly convenient for walking to the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and the River Avon. Despite early May not being peak season, the hotel was quite popular with a high occupancy rate. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in the lobby, and while it can get very busy during peak hours, it's always well-organized. They offer a full English breakfast with all the usual trimmings. The rooms aren't small, but trying to open and lay flat two 28-inch suitcases might feel a bit cramped. We booked two twin rooms and one double room, staying for two nights, and found all the services to be excellent – clean, tidy, and quiet.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of Bath city center and very close to the famous Roman Baths. There was some renovation work happening on the exterior during our stay, but it didn't affect us at all. The hotel design is excellent, with modern facilities, and the staff were incredibly polite, even proactively offering recommendations for popular attractions and itineraries, which was a huge plus! The only downside was that the room was a bit small, and a slightly larger suitcase made it feel a bit inconvenient.

First, the pros: The hotel's location is excellent, with most major attractions within walking distance. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the breakfast quality is good. However, there are a few practical experiences I need to share for others' awareness: 1. Significant Room Discrepancy for Same Type: We booked two rooms of the same type. One was located at a corner of the building, and the elevator didn't go directly to it. We had to carry our luggage up and down stairs, and the room was noticeably smaller than the other. 2. Recommendation: If you're traveling with large luggage or have mobility issues, I suggest calling the hotel in advance after booking to request a room accessible by elevator.

The location is very good and the decoration is also very distinctive. Recommended

Attended on Tuesday 27th Feb. Paid a little extra for room with a bath as like the couple ****** we are, we wanted a bath in Bath. My wife's first time ever visiting here. The hotel is a lovely setting, there is history here and all the staff have been wonderful. Close to the station, literally in front of it, and close to everything. Had the great pleasure of having many encounters with Tim, one of the reception staff and I believe concierges. Super pleasant and always helpful. We had breakfast included and after having that this morning can honestly say it's bang for your buck, with hot food to order including steak and eggs, (best steak my wife has had in the UK), a breakfast grill and a selection of others plus a typical selection of baked goods and fruits. The bar is pleasant and we enjoyed drinks last night before heading up to our room. Strawberry daiquiri we have had many times but the Amaretto sour was an interesting twist with a strong lemon zest. The only downside to the visit would be the bath/shower experience. Lukewarm bath and cold shower when we attempted it last night. This morning we got hot water for a total of ten mins to share before it went cold again. Not the worst thing all in all but a downside considering the extra pricing for a bathtub room. I was however assured that had I brought it to the desks attention I would have been assisted and I had just done the British thing of not wanting to fuss. One last perk that made an impact to me; free luggage storage. We checked out early so we could make the best of our time exploring Bath before we ride home. We were offered free luggage storage for even after we checked out so we could come back in quick before our train at 3pm and grab our bags and go, no extra charge. Fantastically useful as the Abbey tour does not allow luggage inside and we wanted to go. Anyway, thank you to Tim and all the staff at The Royal for making us feel welcomed and our time there special, we will definitely be coming back someday soon and will stay again. - Liam and Jenny Stephenson, Room 109. How should I put it? I hesitated for a long time between this hotel and another one and finally chose this one. The main reason was that I was attracted by the photos of the hotel room on Ctrip. There were big French windows through which you could see the garden and green land. But after checking in, I found that there were no French windows. I thought too much. I don't know why the deluxe suite I booked was arranged on the third floor. The window was relatively small, and there was a wall outside. I could hardly see what was outside the room... I was very disappointed. In addition, the room facilities were a bit old, the air conditioner kept making strange noises, which was very noisy. The bathroom was quite big but there was no heating. It was very cold after taking a shower, and the washbasin was also very simple... Anyway, it didn't match the price. The only thing I can praise is that his restaurant is not bad, and the dishes we ordered were all delicious.

The room was good and had everything needed for a comfortable stay. While I personally preferred another room I stayed in previously, this one was still satisfactory. Overall, it was a decent experience and offered good value for the stay.

Perfect spot for exploring Bath, very central and easy to walk to the station, shops and attractions. The apartment was spotlessly clean with everything we needed, and felt secure in the lovely courtyard. We extended our stay as we felt so at home there. There looked to be a secure left luggage store which we may have used if we’d seen it earlier. Would be useful to have info about this in the apartment info pack. There is some noise from the street for apartment 7, partly from early deliveries to Thermae Spa which is directly opposite, and also from people wandering through the echoey passageways at night. We got used to it by the end of our stay, but light sleepers might prefer one of the inward facing apartments.
