La Bandita Townhouse

Ahhh, where to begin!? My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the La Bandita Townhouse for 3 nights in early March. What a wonderful boutique hotel! The town of Pienza was the PERFECT home base for us to explore the Tuscan countryside and wine region of Italy! Set up high on a hill with stunningly beautiful views of the Val D'orcia, the hotel itself was once a convent which served its inhabitants for over 500 years! Our wonderful room featured stone walls, wood beamed ceilings and sunrise views! There is a delightful restaurant on site which served made to order breakfast as well as delicious dinners. Our waiter, Michael from Glasgow, always made us feel like friends joining him for a meal in his own home. The staff, (Valeria and Paula), were friendly, attentive to our every question or request, and even did a load of laundry for us free of charge! We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the property, Mr John Voigtmann, who took the time to introduce himself personally AND to make sure we were set up with a personal wine tasting at Podere Le Ripi (a fantastic local winery) and Il Casale (a working farm) for lunch! The town of Pienza was JUST the right size and easy to navigate. My wife and I are still day dreaming about our experience in Pienza. From the people to the accommodations to the views and the food! We will definitely be back and will recommend this hotel to anyone! Grazie Mille La Bandita Townhouse!!

What a jewel. So much to enjoy in this lovely hotel (n this well-appointed former convent) and its surroundings in the heart of Tuscany. Everything in the hotel was tasteful, comfortable, and immaculate. The service was warm, helpful, and knowledgeable. The city is charming. And the surrounding areas lush green and breathtaking - with the rest of Tuscany easy to reach by car.

Our private Tuscany townhouse! Note: We traveled the week leading into Christmas and the entire town and the neighboring areas were all very quiet. There were a few restaurants and shops open but the town itself was very empty, with no tourists (which was great for us). My husband discovered La Bandita in CN Traveler and we were so excited to check it out. It was the perfect destination for our holiday getaway. Paola and Alessio were very helpful with helping coordinate the trip. They helped with restaurant reservations and gave great recommendations of things to do. Ask them about the thermal baths/pools at Albergo Posat Marcucci - they'll help arrange and provide a voucher. We were upgraded to a bigger room (because we were the only ones there) which was really comfortable. The bathroom was large with the tub, a shower, and a heated drying rack. Great water pressure from the shower. The one downside was there was this musty smell throughout the room - I think it's because of the lack of air circulation throughout. There's a restaurant onsite that had amazing reviews but it was closed for the holiday. We'll have to go back. There is also a beautifully designed "living room" where they have a record player and records, games, books, and a bar - they offer free prosecco apertivo and then everything else on an honor system. We didn't get the full Bandita experience but will definitely be back.

I rarely ever write reviews, but this place was above and beyond all expectations and the highlight of our Tuscany trip. First of all, Pienza is amazing. Truly magical and not at all like anything in real life. My jaw was dropped the first 12 hours three just by the town alone. La Bandita Townhouse was equally amazing as Pienza. The hotel was intimate & immaculate. Rooms were very large, especially for European standards, and had every amenity needed or wanted. The “living room” common area was absolutely perfect. Restaurants closed early in town so it was the perfect place to hang out for another glass of wine with friends. And the book they supplied with of local tips was just what we needed. The restaurant was the best we had in all of Italy. The staff treated us like long friends. The food was next level, including dinner and especially the included breakfast. Can’t even begin to explain the deliciousness. Wish I could go back as we speak. Thank you La Bandita!!

My wife and I had the wonderful opportunity to stay 2 nights in Pienza, and staying at La Bandita was a treat. All the other posts about how nice it is, location, service are all spot on. I think what makes this hotel different (than the other places we stayed in Tuscany area) is it really is a high quality more modern feeling (on the inside) luxury boutique hotel experience. The finish, layout, very spacious bathrooms, etc are excellent. And you immediately feel like you have friends that are helping you really experience the best of Pienza and care that you have a great time. 5 stars on the hotel. And we also had dinner there the first night, and it was great. It is different (in a good way) from all the other restaurants we have been to in Tuscany because it feels like a more modern twist on Tuscan dishes (which was a fun change). Highly recommend if you are planning a trip in the area, try to fit in a few days here to mix it up with other Tuscan hotels and restaurants, and you won't be disappointed. They will really help out in recommending places/wineries/restaurants in the area to include in your trip and help organize.

We absolutely loved La Bandita! They have created a truly special place. So many little details have been thought out. The room was spacious, with all of the amenities you would expect from a top-notch hotel. The library bar is a great place for a pre-dinner cocktail. Free glass of prosecco, and then an honesty bar - just write down what you drank. And snacks! The entire staff is amazing, from the front desk to the restaurant. Everyone was super friendly. And Mikey seems to float about the restaurant, taking care of everyone, always with a friendly chat that leaves you smiling, and never misses a beat. The restaurant provides a great breakfast, including eggs cooked to order. But don't miss dinner as well - we had one of the best meals of our trip at the hotel restaurant. And the staff REALLY knows their wine. They recommended some great wines, both as a whole bottle and by the glass. And had great suggestions about surrounding towns and wineries to visit. And the location is right within the heart of Pienza. We absolutely fell in love with this little town. Highly recommended. We will return!

Our stay at La Bandita was the highlight of our 3 week Italian vacation! From check-in to check-out, everything at this property was executed flawlessly and we felt so welcoming and in perfect hands. The only part we regret is that we didn't stay here longer! We appreciated the 6pm aperitivo in the LIbrary, as well as the wash and fold laundry service (it is €15 for the laundry bag, or if you stay 3 nights or more it is complimentary). While parking in the main town parking lot is a few minutes away, the hotel will register your license place so that you don't have to worry about the hassle of paying to park every day. Breakfast in the restaurant had few offerings but well appointed (with some of the best croissants I've ever had). They will also cook you eggs or an omelette to order with toast and bacon (made to order omelettes are a rarity in Italy). Housekeeping was excellent, as well as the nightly turndown service. The property also has an excellent water filtration system and provides a carafe of fresh water each night in your room. I would highly recommend La Bandita to anyone wanting a truly unique experience on their travels through Tuscany. I cannot wait to come back!

We loved our one week stay at LaBandita. Wonderful hospitality! We enjoyed our room, the restaurant, and friendly team. Also, greatly appreciated the pre arrival info packet:). The hotel, in the centre of pienza - while unassuming from the outside - is attractively laid out with nice, spacious rooms and common areas, such as the “dishonesty bar” available to guest, which comes complete of large living room space. The restaurant, with an inner garden is good and also serves breakfast. Definitely recommended.
