Philo Hotel

The hotel is located near el-Tahrir square. We had a large, clean, cozy room (this is not a given in Cairo, hotels are often dirty and uncomfortable). The room also had a balcony, I liked watching the busy streets of Cairo from there. Inside, however, there is a calm and very friendly atmosphere, we felt very comfortable here, everyone is nice and helpful 😊❤️. The hotel is safe and a place where you come to really relax. Not all hotels there can offer such a calm, pleasant and friendly atmosphere. We were really happy there and we will remember this pleasant hotel and we will definitely come back when we travel to Cairo again ❤️ . We loved it there, especially my six year old son loved it here ❤️ .And the people who work here and manage the hotel have become our dear friends we will want to meet again ❤️.We hope to come back here again. Here's the pluses: Great location (but it takes a little effort to find it because it's on the third floor of a fairly non-descript building), absolutely wonderful staff ( Philip, the owner, was truly the ultimate host and never once tried to sell anything), clean room, always someone there 24 hours (felt safe), and breakfast was good too. I'd give this place a 4.5 star rating if I could for only one reason: my room faced the busy street and was very loud until about 10:30/11 at night (at which point it became really quiet). But if I ever head back to Cairo, I'm booking at Philo!

Amazing location in the heart of cairo surrounded by museums , restaurants...shopping centers , close to everything Very nice staff , welcoming , always smiling My room was clean , spacious, sunny , with a beautiful terrace and an amazing view. The breakfast was a delight I highly recommend it and i would go back again during my next trip to egypt

Excellent service! The management were always helpful and professional. It’s located in downtown Cairo close to all kinds of restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay in downtown.

Philo Hotel is a small family-owned budget hotel situated on the third floor in a depilated but beautiful architecture apartment block in central downtown Cairo, close to Tahrir square. The staff is super friendly and helpful. My room was clean and spacious, equipped with a hard but still comfortable double bed, tv (Arabic channels only), private shower, balcony, and two large windows facing the street. But since the hotel is situated in an old apartment and the furniture may have seen its best days, don’t expect everything to be up to date. You will have free, basic wifi, but the connection is at times a bit slow. The area around the hotel is full of shops and eateries, and even though usually very crowded with people, I never experienced any trouble. And for safe rides around the city, the hotel gladly helps ordering affordable uber-style, hassle-free taxis with pre-arranged rates, arriving at the hotel entrance just a few minutes after order. So I can warmly recommend Philo Hotel as a very good budget place to stay a few days while in Cairo.

very friendly and efficient staff. This is the only hotel I know that has laundry service on site. The rooms are comfortable and clean.
