It is the most comfortable hotel I stayed in during this trip to the UK. The room was larger than equivalent hotels in London and the bedding was very good. The most important thing is that the breakfast experience is great. The waiters and ladies are full of Cambridge temperament. When ordering food, the food is excellent.

I have given this an average review more because of my disappointment than how the room was. Christ College looked so promising.... and indeed it it is stunning. But not all of it....be warned So after a lovely day I got back to the porters lodge. I was tired. I received a map and a key. I was told I needed to walk through the college I got lost twice because what the map did not tell me was the whole of the back of the college was a building site. So I had to duck under scaffolding and Circumnavigate tarpaulin.... it was like a maze. I eventually found my way to the right place. An ugly block of flats which was certainly not in the lovely *********** photos. Not only that.... a very high Spiral staircase awaited me. I got to floor 4... I saw another stair case but it wasn’t to my room. I then saw another spiral staircase. Also not to my room. At that point I figured it was not going to get any better. So I didn't stay there. Now this was a personal choice of mine so if you are young and sprightly this might be fine for you. The room I would have stayed in was Very Cheap. Not sure if you get an en suite bathroom though. It is in a central location and the porters are very lovely and friendly. But it was not for me. There was an element of misrepresentation here, as although it said in the blurb there was building works, that is an understatement. It did mention stairs but NOT two Spiral staircases. So I think that needs to be addressed.

The single room is spacious, the service attitude is good, the hotel breakfast environment and food are also good, it is a house hotel with good value for money. It is several levels better than the same type of house hotel in Edinburgh, recommended.

No bed for third person made up, called receptionist I was told someone will come and do it, this was at 19:00 no one ever came, even after following up over the phone. I spent night sleeping without bedding, on plain sofa bed without a single pillow. Terrible experience and poor service. Not enough towels, just for one person & again after calling reception- I was told that they ran out of towels!!! This was enough for my family to bare after whole day of travel, especially the room booked was Executive one. So expected to be up to highest standard and service to be over the top, this isn’t the case. Cleanliness is very poor - see pictures. Dust everywhere and this wasn’t one day worth. After asking for partial refund due to poor service, I was given a silly look and smile, advised to sent email online. Do not bother going there.

Firstly, I have to say, some of the reviews here are a poor reflection on what actually is offered. The hotel and gardens itself is stunningly beautiful, and the rooms although small are gorgeously decorated and have most things you would need in them, including a fan. You have to realise this is a very old building, so it will have its charms (for example, not all windows will open in the older part of the house) but overall, the beauty of the rooms outweigh these small details, and the rooms are thoughtful and homely. Alison runs a ”dry venue” so she will make sure everything runs to plan, but really it is up to you to make sure the day runs as it should. They don't have facility to offer you a bar/restaurant - however what they do offer is very well executed. They are pretty hands off, which is fine, I just asked permission for what I needed, briefed everyone thoroughly and the day went without a hitch. I personally couldn't have been happier. Check-in is from 1500 which is stated when you book the room, which for the majority of people who came to our wedding was fine, it is contactless, no issue there as far as I'm concerned. The bridal suite isn't available until 11am - which in my case was fine. I paid for another room in which to get ready and leave my dress etc the day before which saved a scramble on the day. It was only up the corridor from the bridal suite and I only took what I needed. The caterer RF recommend - CDC are absolutely flawless, and our food and drinks service was absolutely outstanding. Sam who was put in charge of running our day, and Ellena who looked after us in the lead up were absolutely fantastic. The food was tasty, hot, and plentiful, we opted for buffet style and I can't find a single guest who had anything negative to say about the entire day. I hired a company to decorate and pack down my marquee the next day - and someone to deliver my wine (a man in a van) which was a godsend as again, no faff! Without the help of these companies you would end up doing it yourself, and in the terms of the contract you do have to vacate the marquee by 10am so do bear this in mind. I think considering my wedding isn't the only one this year (shocking, I know) that was absolutely fair enough, and these times were easily achievable by my team. CDC cleared everything to the side - bless them, and Roger locked the marquee overnight so everything was easily packed into our car the next day and safe. Breakfast did change in the time between booking and getting married, but the English charm of the self boiled eggs, the portmerion dishes and the little pots of tea and toast was adorable and not far away from what I would have wanted had I been at home. Her staff (I'm so sorry I can't recall names) were friendly, polite and the lady doing breakfast was a total sweetheart. If you did fancy a fry up, coton orchards is a minute alway, but quite honestly what was on offer was perfect for us and our small group (we had

Even though the hotel is far from Cambridge downtown, it is clean and surrounded by several stores where one can get everything when needed. The reception ladies are very handful, and they provided help when we needed it. Getting an Uber from the hotel is also tricky, as it depends on the time of the day you request one.

GGuest UserWe stayed at Holiday Inn for 2 nights between May 30 - June 1 2023. Overall the hotel was great and we had a pleasant stay, we had planned to visit the town center and look at the history of Cambridge thus the location was important to us. It was only a short drive (5 mins) to the centre where we could go punting, shopping and to the universities, museums and gardens. We included breakfast in our stay, which I would highly recommend there was a great selection of foods and the pancake machine was a huge win for us. The only thing we were disappointed with was the fact that dressing robes and waters which are usually complimentary in other hotels we have visited, were not included in the room for free and when we asked we were told we could drink the water from the bathroom, which was not pleasant but other factors such as the fact our room was cleaned regularly and the amazing breakfast did make up for this.

GGuest UserThe Fellows House comes out of nowhere as there is a ton of construction going on in front of it. However, don't let that fool you as the entrance is around a few left hand turns and then you hit reception. Stephanie immediately took care of us. Our room was being readied and we had a small bite at the cafe near the main door. Ali, from Uzbekistan took care of us. Great attitude, service and spoke really well. The room was very comfortable and the bed was huge. The bathroom was super clean and everything worked with a press of a button and turn of dial. Great sanitation facilities. The pool, steam room and sauna were also excellent, plus the gym was very decent. For breakfast the next day, Pam, Dolly, Dada, etc. treated us really well and the assortment of food was ample. When we checked out, Ashutosh made the experience smooth and trouble free. He called us a car to pick us up and take us back to the train station as we headed back to London, after having dinner the night before at The Ivy (very good too). If you're headed to Cambridge, please stay at this hotel. Highly recommended, Debs and Dave

GGuest UserWe had the most lovely stay at the University Arms in Cambridge. The staff was so friendly and accommodating and the hotel smelled amazing. The rooms were quite spacious and the beds were very comfortable! The bartenders in the lounge area were exceptionally kind and made delicious cocktails! I especially want to highlight the restaurant manager, Francesco. He was extremely gracious, welcoming, and professional and made our stay at the University Arms that much more wonderful. We will definitely stay here again!

GGerry_xgThe hotel is a very beautiful manor in the suburbs about 10km from Cambridge. There should be cows and sheep on the grassland in summer. I was attracted by other people's beautiful pictures when I made the reservation. After I checked in, I found it was really good, but I had to drive by myself and check in for free. The room was remodeled from the original dormitory, not quite but adequate, no air conditioning, slightly colder, breakfast quality is good, the environment is first-rate, it is recommended

SStay12521509633This place is lovely; staff are very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The rooms are cosy and even though we had a room overlooking the main street we did not experience any noise at all. The bed is comfy and we were provided, without asking, a fan to cool the room down. Breakfast - great. So near the city centre, just cross the bridge and you are there. Also, a Co-op across the road for picnic items etc. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return.

JJessieThe hotel needs to take a train from Cambridge. The train station is behind the hotel. My 14-year-old son has a round-trip ticket for a total of £7. The hotel is very convenient and not noisy! There is a large parking lot and a parking fee of 5 pounds is required! The hotel is very convenient for self-drivers. It is less than ten minutes drive to the Imperial War Museum IWM. Many planes and tanks during World War II and World War II are worth seeing!

GGuest UserA bit fussy. Hotel open only on weekends, 17 rooms total. Victorian house on a busy road, but there was no road noise. Park behind the hotel. Can leave the car in their car park after you check out. Wi-Fi works near the reception and in the basement breakfast room, but not in the guest rooms. Relatively costly. Some rooms are accessed by entering the front door, going down to the basement, and up again. Tip: you can exit through the back door to the parking lot but cannot come back the same way. Still if someone holds the door open for you, it is the easiest way to get luggage from the car to the hotel. This was not mentioned at check-in, and we carried our bags up and down many stairs! Good sized rooms, tasty full English breakfast, also some yogurt and fruits. When I tried to lift the sash window, it came out in my hands. Fortunately, I didn’t drop it on my foot. About 15 mins walk to the town, either along the main road or along the river.

GGuest UserThis is my second stay at the Cambridge Belfry and I am here for 3 nights. I was apprehensive about returning, given the nature of the reviews but I have to say - they do seem harsh! And I consider myself hard to please. On arrival I was informed that a generator had broken and thus my original, booked room was unavailable. The hotel went above and beyond, and have allocated me a penthouse suite. This is something I would never be able to afford normally and it’s just lovely. So thank you 🙏🏻 I was disappointed to see the pool/sauna/steam was unavailable for use on the 7th. I’m hopeful this is a one evening thing as it’s one of the main reasons I booked the hotel, but it seems they are doing maintenance that has been highlighted as an issue so you can’t have it both ways! Special thanks to the receptionist who dealt with my silly questions over the water in the mini fridge (you’ll know who you are!) and the waitress who took my room service order without laughing at me apologising for not coming to the restaurant. Both lovely. Some of the staff I’ve found are just plain miserable, which is a shame. Especially on reception. Only criticism. No orange juice for breakfast, and I do like a glass of orange juice in the morning. And the posh Nespresso machine in the room, I know it’s not exactly a problem to have but you’ve got to put some instructions with it. Have given up with the thing! I’ll be a returning guest. GGuest UserIt is the largest hotel in the UK. It has a fully equipped kitchen. There is a Chinese super nearby. You can satisfy your Chinese stomach by buying and cooking. The special thing about this hotel is self-check-in. The landlord leaves the key in the password box at the door. Open the door and check in. Leave the key in the password box when you leave, and you don't see the waiter throughout. Very close to Cambridge University, just a few minutes walk
