We had a great stay in this lovely hotel. Breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had and it was served to you rather than having to queue up to be served. Small issue, we were given a disabled accessible room and probably would have preferred to be given a choice as to whether we wanted this.

I brought my sister there for dinner on April 5th and was totally disappointed with the service, food was appalling, total lack of interest in customers, tables uncleared and no one checked or cared if everything was ok with us. Was very cold also.

Went for food with family. Waited for over 30 mins and nobody came to serve us. Had to go up and get menus myself and still another 15 mins nobody came to serve us. Eventually we decided to leave. Not the first time this has happened and they are notorious for slow service. Lovely place but a pity they can't get their act together when it comes to service.

We stayed in the Avalon Hotel for 2 nights Sunday and Monday. What a find it’s a hidden gem. We could not fault anything about our stay. Our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean . Food was excellent and well presented, served by very friendly staff Mena and Trish on both nights. The breakfast was cooked to order with an extensive menu from full Irish to French toast and eggs Benedict. It was my husband’s birthday and we were pleasantly surprised they had music in the bar on Sunday night , we had a fantastic night. All the staff in the hotel are extremely friendly, helpful and professional. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel. We have already booked a return visit for May.

A lovely country house experience, with owners and staff taking pride in the building and its interior. Staff very friendly and hospitable, a particular mention of Emma Doyle. My wife forgot phone charger and the hotel contacted us and sent it on in the post. Nice food and a suitably quiet location. Outside the hotel you can walk the small town which has a river flowing, close to hotel. We had a pleasant stay and we would recommend the hotel.

We stayed at the Avalon House Hotel for three nights in November 2023. This was our third time to stay here, previous experiences were good, but unfortunately this trip was very disappointing. Our room was perfect, warm, cosy and comfortable. Unfortunately as soon as we moved outside it was a completely different story, the place was freezing. We wore our coats and scarves to breakfast and dinner. Dinner was disgusting and despite complaining we were totally ignored. I have no doubt but what we had on night two was most definitely cooked from Lunch time, totally inedible. The cold in the place was dreadful. On two days our room was not serviced until 5pm, one of those days we were left Hand towels and not Bath towels. No shower caps, no face towels !!! We both ended up sick when we got home. I certainly will remember celebrating my special birthday. Two emails to Avalon House and NO response.

Really lovely hotel in the cute town of Castlecomer. Hotel was beautiful with little decoration details in every corner. Staff was very nice & food was really good (we ate in the bar during our stay for both lunch & dinner). Room was a perfect family room with a bunk bed which was a big hit with our daughter who is 4.5 year old. Super location, super hotel & nice staff - we will definitely be back!!!

Just back from our second visit and will be returning in the future. Lovely hotel with comfy beds and pillows. Food was excellent as was the service. My compliments to all concerned, we will return, yet again, later in the year. Keep up the good work. Great monsoon shower and fantastic toiletries, but the shower floor can become slippery!
