This hotel is perfect for foreigners since the lady at the front desk can speak English. Also she gave us lots of tipps and helpful advices of how to visit the grottoes and the city itself. The room is spacious and very beautiful. There is a cozy lobby with delicious coffee.

Clean, nice decoration, friendly staff. A bit noisy until 11pm. On the second morning, another customer was speaking loudly on the phone just beneath our window, but that's not the hotel's fault. Breakfast was included, and better than we expected. During our 2-weeks trip to China, with 7 different hotels, this was the only one where the receptionist spoke english ! Thanks to the kind lady who arranged a taxi for us.

We had an excellent stay at Meijing Hotel, primarily due to the exceptional staff who were consistently friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The breakfast offered a wide variety of fresh options served in a spacious dining area, and the hotel's prime location put us within easy reach of shops, restaurants, and local attractions. Our only complaint was that our non-smoking room had a lingering cigarette smell upon arrival, though staff promptly provided an air purifier to address the issue. While we would absolutely stay again for the outstanding service, we hope they can improve their smoke control measures for an even better experience next time.

The location is not too bad, it is within a cluster of many newly built homestays. I chose this place for its zen design style and it is newly opened, and i read in thr review that there was free coffee provided during breakfast. Therefore i was rather dissappointed when i found out that there is no such thing, coffee is chargeable. I was glad that i brought my own drip coffee to supplement the breakfast. Although my room was eligible for 2 breakfasts, i was only provided with 1 set of breakfast and not offered any replacement for the other breakfast set that i did not take. The room size is just nice for 1 person with luggage. Bathroom+toilet was quite large in comparison to the bedroom. My room overlook the opposite facility, the window can be opened to let in fresh air. There is washing machine+dryer on the ground floor. The girls at the lobby was nice to help me manage my laundry. I was glad that i could use the large table at the lobby for my work. It is an irony that there is a non smoking signboard in the room together with an ashtray....

Excellent stay and location near Datong ancient city wall with a lot of food options nearby (must try the sliced noodles, local specialty). Great place to rest after visiting all of the nearby attractions and walking all day. The room is very clean, spacious, bright and well equipped. Additional bonus is that you don’t have to carry a key around since the doors are equipped with combination locks that are customized for your stay. I recommend this hotel and would return on a future trip. Note: There is no front desk or reception and the rooms are spread out in a large multi-story building. Make sure to get in contact with the hotel once you arrive and the manager will meet you at the lobby and take you to your room. If you don’t speak Chinese, having a translation app is also useful.

Lovely place and personal. Beautiful architecture. Fresh fruit as a welcome gift is really appreciated. Perfect location, close to all tourists attractions. You can request didi in front of the hotel. Pity we stay so short time. Datong is beautiful and it worth staying more than one day. Highly recommended

Great location, walking distance to many attractions and restaurants. Room was clean, no cigarette smell. Very helpful staff and easy communication via WeChat. We appreciated the private driver recommendation to visit Xuankong Temple and other sights, it was very convenient and affordable. We recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

When we arrived we were given the wrong room in B tower with single beds, we had to go back downstairs and show the booking again to request the correct double room in A tower. The rooms and amenities are old, and the fridge is broken. I called reception who told me to bring any items I want to cool down to the reception and use their fridge, when I asked if we can swap the broken fridge for a working fridge, they said all of the fridges are like this. They won't admit the fridges are all broken, but all of the fridges in the hotel are warm and won't make your food / beverages cold. The hotel is in dire need of an upgrade, and they need to replace the fridges.

We are a couple from Sweden that has been backpacking around the world for two years and we usually travel a lot. The stay was very nice! Very comfy bed with great duna and linen. The shower was awesome! And the room is beautiful and newly renovated. Try to get a room on a higher floor. The staff is really nice and helpful. The airflow is not great because they put it on 25 degrees on the whole hotel, we complained a bit and finally the fixed it. Thanks, Kind regards Johannes and Ebba

The hotel is from the era where they used marble tiles in the bathrooms and heavy quality wood furniture which is pretty charming. Bed was very comfortable and staff were generally helpful altho a couple of the reception staff were quite brusque, also they spoke really fast in an accent I couldn't always understand. I think they should be more mindful of visitors from abroad. The most helpful and courteous member of staff was the bellhop. The hotel claims to be non-smoking which is a joke cuz my room reeked of cigarette smoke and I told the staff so when she brought me there but she just said oh they've already turned down the room. Since I stayed for only 1 night, I didn't make a fuss. But non-smoking rooms are generally a joke in China, there is no enforcement and smokers have no consideration for others. Non-smokers in this country have no rights.
