Holiday Inn Express Hotels in Edinburgh

The hotel has a great location. We took the tram from the airport, and the hotel was right across the station when we got off—super convenient. The room was clean and decently sized, though the double bed was a bit small. But since we were out early and back late every day, exploring Edinburgh's cobbled streets on foot, the bed size didn’t affect our sleep at all... The breakfast was fantastic—a full English spread with coffee, milk, scrambled eggs, sausages, croissants, you name it... The self-service coffee machine in the lobby was also excellent. Coming back to a cup of hot chocolate to warm up was the perfect way to unwind after a long day. We’d definitely recommend this place to friends, and the higher floors offer great views too!

Good location for the Secure Airport Parking, a 5 minute walk. Check-in and out was quick. Room was clean with a new bathroom, which had a powerful hot shower. Corridors and communal areas could do with a freshen up and the carpets cleaned. Free breakfast had basic cereals, natural yogurt and a hot selection- sausage, bacon etc.

It was very easy to find the Hotel, by bus, from the centre of Edinburgh. All the staff were very friendly and professional. When I told them that we’d been cold the previous night, they brought a heater up to our room. Excellent breakfast ( including vegetarian sausages when I asked if they had any ). There was also a gluten free trolley.

I think the hotel location is very good, almost touching the royal mile with just few meters away. This hotel is suitable for solo or business travelers as this is an express hotel. The room we got was very small in size 19m2 not suitable for family with a kid. There was no refrigerator in the room. Breakfast was very ordinary with very few options so, I will not suggest to take breakfast at this hotel, in fact people can scout on royal mile for a decent restaurant. Overall, 1 or 2 days should be ok without much hassle but if you are planning to spend some more time then I will not suggest for this hotel. Staff was always helpful and they do the best to guide you for things.

Upon check-in on December 5, 2023, we encountered a significant issue with the room temperature. Despite seeking assistance from the receptionist, who provided us with two portable heaters, the room remained uncomfortably cold. We also requested a room transfer due to the central heating in our assigned room not functioning properly. To make matters worse, on the second day of our stay, we encountered a similar situation. I observed that the windows were not double glazed, which might be contributing to the freezing temperatures inside the room. The external temperature during our stay ranged between -2 to 0 degrees Celsius.
