I am here at Antigua Trece now and have only excellent things to contribute. I got a bit worried after I saw some recent reviews that were quite negative. Happily, I can only say wonderful things about our stay thus far. Our room is beautiful with high ceilings, well appointed, everything works just fine. The bathroom is gorgeous with a huge shower, waterfall shower head and plenty of towels. The staff makes this place even better. Every single person here greets us with a smile, day after day. It is just lovely. Thank you for welcoming us to Guanajuato!

We enjoyed Guanajuato very much and the staff at the hotel were friendly. We liked the flavored waters and treats they had and the oranges our for guests. The little room was fine, quaint, but unfortunately they seem to have bug problems. We had cockroaches in our room, every day, had to kill several. Also the room smells like septic water so we had to run the air conditioner and have the windows open all day and night for the smells to waft out. Seeing as this is an expensive hotel, the highest on our trip to four cities. I mentioned this to the front desk and wrote an email to the reservations department and heard NOTHING back. Very irresponsible. Could be a nice place if they listened to feedback and paid attention. Would not stay here again.

Do not book this hotel! We booked this hotel several months ago, at approx 3000 pesos a night it was one of the most expensive places we were staying. We arrived on New Years Eve and were given a tiny room that was directly above the lobby / restaurant area with a “window” / hole in the wall (it was just an open hole with no glass) that opened into this area and was approx 2.5m off the ground floor. We closed the shutters (which eliminated all natural light in the space) and the noise was still overwhelming. It was as if the people downstairs were in our room. It was clear no attempts had been made for any sort of noise insulation / sound proofing. We went to advise the staff of the issue and they rolled their eyes and were like, it’s a busy time so of course there’s some noise. “Some noise” doesn’t do justice to just how unsettlingly loud it was. We requested to be moved and was advised the hotel was full. It wasn’t, as I had already checked on their website and then they acknowledged there was another room but it was terribly located and had noise issues too (probably why it was still empty). We returned to the room and the noise was so bad that after another half an hour we decided we couldn’t take it and requested the hotel cancel the booking and refund it as it wasn’t at all what we expected. Apparently no one working was in charge and they made some feeble attempts to contact someone while we waited. 30 mins passed and they kind of shrugged their shoulders and we decided we weren’t going to waste more of our trip and told them we expect them to follow up to sort out the refund and left (for the Hotel Indigo down the road which I can highly recommend!). Tonight I received an email that they’ve decided to not honour the refund and instead will keep our 9000 pesos for a room we didn’t stay in and was not fit for anyone to stay. For the staff to have been so rude and dismissive at the time, when any sane person would know that room was not suitable to have people stay and for no one from the management to reach out to discuss this with us and then take our money while not delivering what was promised is practically theft. Honestly they’re a disgrace and couldn’t suggest more strongly to look at other options.

The location is central to everything you need and near city attractions. Hotel is boutique style so it is small and doesn’t have the typical amenities like a larger hotel. The room and space is beautifully designed, bed was comfortable and room spacious. The rooms dont have typical windows so it can be very dark. Lack of natural light. Our window opened to where they dump the trash so if we had the window open we could hear it. The bathroom tub is a deep tub so if you struggle with any mobility this will be a concern for safety getting in and out of tub. Concerns on service. Several times we called reception for wash clothes, toilet paper and were Told different things or it never arrived. We had to go find Maid service directly for these items. The reception never offered or provided information on the hotel or city, or transportation. Last thing the pool is not heated. The reception said it was heated- but the pool was lukewarm at most.

This is truly one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms and grounds were clean and beautiful. It's in a fantastic location in walking distance to lots of parks, restaurants, and shops. The staff was generally friendly, especially the housekeeping and spa staff. The beds were super comfy; the bathroom large and luxurious. A few things to note: * Our room key deactivated every day for the first part of our trip. I was told it was because the key was close to my phone which deactivates it, but even after I moved the key, I had some troubles. I'm not sure why this happened, but the front desk made me new keys each time... * If you have a car, driving to this property is...tight. You drive through a fairly tight alley/road and at one point, you will feel like you might not fit. We made it, but it was one of the wilder driving experiences of my life. * If you have a car, their free parking spaces are at a shopping center about 1 km away. The distance isn't too bad but the walk to and from is very hilly and steep. We ended up taking Ubers back and forth to the shopping center when we needed the car for day trips. These points didn't take away from our enjoyment of the hotel. I would stay there again! It is a delightful property. Honestly, if you don't need a car for your stay in Guanajuato, I'd not rent one. Ubers are reasonably priced and so much is within walking distance.

Hotel itself is beautiful, our room was comfortable and very clean. Location was also great. Lots of bright light came in the morning, recommend bringing an eye mask, and earplugs if you sleep lightly (the bells in the city go off on the hour all throughout the night!). The 2,000 peso deposit is a little strange but it was removed upon checkout. The price for the room was slightly steeper than expected for the area. Air conditioning is a big bonus. Wifi was spotty. The power was out when we arrived for maybe 8 hours though the hotel obviously had no control over that! Our shower had good pressure and lots of hot water which is often not the case in MX! We arranged airport transportation with Jesus Torres through the hotel and paid 700 MXN each way. This is on-par with the airport contracted taxi company though significantly more expensive than Uber, but the benefit was having someone trustworthy and on our schedule was great when we headed back to the airport because there were looooong delays getting an Uber when we tried getting one to get to the wedding we were attending.

We are a Canadian couple in their late 50's who love to travel the cities of Mexico, this was our first time in Guanajuato. Guanajuato is not yet on everybody's radar like San Miguel is but, we liked G better than San Miguel. More authentic. The hotel sits in the very middle of the bowl-shaped center of the valley in which Guanajuato itself, sits. The rooftop of the hotel, is wide open and takes in an amazing 360 degree panoramic view of the entire city. The net result is a stunning view, unmatched any where else. The hotel itself was 200 feet from the main street in Centro. However, there is steepish set of stairs and steep short road up to the hotel's front door. 5 minute walk. High altitude 7000 feet. The neighborhood felt safe and had everything at your fingertips. It was a great location. The staff was incredible especially our bartender, Julio. Who went to great lengths to help us to learn to love Guanajuato as he was raised there. Rooftop bar and restaurant has the amazing view accompanied by equally amazing food and cocktails. The room, was romantic and modern but needed a few more little touches. IE, More hooks, more storage a few more towels etc. The entire place very clean throughout. The room lead out to a beautiful courtyard, pool and a fabulous breakfast area. We highly recommend Antigua Trece , fun, hip, great location.

Took a family trip to visit Guanajuato and Antigua Trece was a fantastic choice for our large group of 8 with kids in tow. The common areas and private rooms were lovely and clean, and the staff was always attentive and accommodating. We enjoyed the pool, the rooftop, the breakfast, all facets of the hotel. The only precaution would be for people sensitive to noise, the callejonadas pass through the street in front of the hotel so it can be noisy on the weekends, but that definitely wouldn't stop us from staying at this wonderful hotel again. Thank you for such an amazing stay!
