As a traditional Ryokan lover, Hifumi ticks almost all the spots. Onsen, Clean tatami and bedding, Japandi calm and quiet. Breakfast and dinner are add-on charges, and they only serve dinner on weekends during winter. But hey this is Hakuba and you are paying for peace and comfort away from the troves of noisy tourists. House staff are friendly and accommodating and (most) l have a good command of English. Breakfast is tasty and traditional- a lot of Nozawana which is a Nagano speciality vegetable.

Absolutely gorgeous environment and atmosphere with traditional Japanese styled rooms that confer the most relaxing and peaceful experience during our stay. Our room is equipped with private onsen facing the snowy mountains offering another level of unparalleled tranquility and comfort after a long day of skiiing. Also worth mentioning that the staff at the entire premise are so attentive and caring that they would ask about our needs on amenities and restaurant options - they even gave us a full catalogue of restaurants nearby when we were wondering what to eat at night. Overall, the experience was exceptional and I would highly recommend the stay in this hotel

We stayed in this hotel twice for this trip. The room design is more traditional this time but as comfortable as the previous one. Highly recommended.

I don't recommend booking through Ctrip, because you might think you're getting a room like in picture 1, but you'll actually get the worst one in the hotel, pictures 2/3. You usually don't see pictures of this room; the interior is old and outdated, with unsightly sofa covers and cheap carpet, and the shower head is broken. Not every room type is listed here. I'd pay extra rather than have this room. On the plus side, the staff speaks English, and I found the breakfast quite good.

I absolutely love this hotel. I'd definitely stay there again. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The onsen was excellent. A few days here in the winter would be a real treat.

Our family had a sublime experience at this awesome Ryokan. We stayed in the Sen suite which was beautifully appointed and spacious for our family of three. Having the gorgeous onsen in our room was such a treat. What really made this stay outstanding was the owner. He went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable. At one point, we were having trouble buying Shinkansen tickets. The owner actually drove down to the train station and bought the tickets himself and brought them back to us!!! It is rare to experience that level of hospitality. ARIGATO GOZAIMASU Tomo-San!!
