Premier Inn Harrogate South

I stayed one night only but had a spacious and clean room with a comfortable bed which was great. I enjoyed the evening meal, though choices were limited, and a very good buffet breakfast. The hotel was conveniently situated next to the train station which was ideal for me. The staff were friendly and welcoming too.

I have always been pleased with premier plus rooms but not this time. The room needed an update and it could have done with a good clean. For what we paid I wasn't very impressed. The staff were friendly but we had to wait almost an hour for our food.

Very peaceful stay, convenient for travelling by train.Staff very friendly and welcoming, although not enogh of them particularly during meal times.Nice buffet breakfast, although items missing on second morning, beans, mushrooms, yoghurt which is unacceptable as not cheap at over £11 pp.Staff very apologetic about this.Wasn't happy with cleanliness of hotel.Mould in bathroom, corners of room dusty and cobwebs.Tea/coffee not replenished.Felt a lot more basic than other Premier Inns we've stayed at, although it is under refurbishment.We would stay again due to nice staff and peaceful location but hopefully more staff will be employed.

Room not ready until after 5 due to short staff. No restaurant again due to short staff. Room not cleaned properly, with hairs on spare pillows and menu covered in food. TV remote damaged hardly working. Bathroom good and breakfast good

We visited a few weeks after the summer heatwaves, and with outside temperatures of 15 degrees we did not expect our room to be sweltering. We had to keep the supplied fan on all night, and kept the window open all night, but still the room did not get any lower than 25 degrees. We found it very difficult to get any sleep, and though we had booked for two nights, we could not face a second night in Room 116. We tried to get a different room at reception next morning, but nobody was there. Thinking they might have been called away we returned a short time later but still reception was unattended. So we left. We contacted Customer Service once we were home and asked why the room was so hot, but their response was to suggest we should have booked a Premier Plus room that had air conditioning. That was a disappointing reply, as it does not explain how a room with fan on full and with an open window is 10 degrees hotter than outside. Needless to say we will not be going back to Harrogate South, and are considering whether we will be booking any more nights with Premier Inn. We have been regular customers of theirs for many years, and have travelled all across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but this has been the worst experience with the company.

Upon arrival we parked in the main car park as signpost. Building works were obviously ongoing so parking was in short supply. We needed a disabled parking space but none were designated as such. There were several steep steps up to reception , no disabled access for wheelchair so had to use the steps a sign on the approach road indicating the accessible access would have been helpful The reception staff were pleasant and held doors open for us. We had booked a premium room with disability accommodation. Room 11 was allocated which was some distance down the corridor. Upon opening the door we were met by the stench of drains which persisted for all of our stay. We couldn’t have the window open as the guttering above was dripping heavily. The carpets were very dirty and stained. There was a serious need for a deep clean !and revamp. Chipped stained paint and dust/muck everywhere ! Definitely not worth the extra we paid for the room. Premier inn. seems to have lost its way. The removal of ajoining restaurants takes away the main selling point for travellers who just want to eat and sleep. In house restaurants are cramped and menu not to everyone taste breakfast this morning.was busy and quite cramped but the food was good and the selection reasonable. it is better standard than the room. apart from friendly staff I’m struggling to find a positive comment for this premier inn. With such limited facilities and parking it is difficult to envisage how they will accommodate a further 30 rooms as planned

I booked a zip link double made up as two singles (which I paid extra for) and paid for an early check-in. Upon arrival the receptionist checked to see if our room was ready. She said it was. We went to the room and discovered it was a double with a sofabed. I refuse point blank to sleep on a sofa bed. They are for children. Premier Inn boast about their comfortable beds. Empty promises I'm afraid. Sofabeds are the pits for adults. We got the early check-in fee refunded and returned at 3 pm. The twin room was ready. An hour or two later when I checked the beds I realised the super duper Hypnos mattresses were on upside down. ( See attached photographs) So after all the fuss we had already had we turned them the right way up. We are pretty sure now that we know why they were the wrong way up. Both were stained. As the stains were dry we decided, for the sake of peace, to live with it. My husband slept on top of the duvet. Breakfast - if you like rubbery fried eggs and bacon that is difficult to cut let alone chew -fine. We don't. I have used Premier Inns for over twenty years and I'm afraid the standard is dropping. Oxford Cowley was just as bad. Time they got their act together. I realise this Inn is getting refurbished but in the meantime is could do with a good deep clean. Staff were fine.

So I have a business account with Premier Inn and this is my 37th stay this year. The service at this Premier Inn is disgraceful especially in the social they obviously need more staff in the kitchen how does it take and hour and a half to do a pizza I could have driven to the local Pizza Express ordered and been back at the hotel in the amount of time it took them to cook some cardboard.

Had to wait several minutes for a staff member to actually arrive at reception to book us in to begin with. First impression was the whole building looked tired and probably needed updated and a deep clean. The moment you stepped out of the lift a heat hit you and continued into our room, it felt stuffy and uncomfortable with no air conditioning either. The following morning we so looked forward to our breakfast of a full English only to discover there were no sausages or bacon left, it wasn't busy either and weren't late, other people had the same experience too. No explanation from staff. We could cope with the building work. Some staff were helpful. But on leaving and dropping our card off the person on the desk seemed disinterested and didn't even as if we'd have a nice visit. No really the standard we've come to except from you.
