Our trip to Japan this time unfortunately coincided with a typhoon, but thankfully we arrived in Izu *after* it had passed. It felt like even a typhoon couldn't spoil our enjoyment! The weather was even better afterward; it was incredibly relaxing to enjoy the sea breeze while admiring the ocean view. Our room was excellent – easily the largest we've stayed in during our trips to Japan. It came with great amenities and was spotlessly clean. Just let the front desk know if you need room cleaning. The public hot spring baths also offered stunning sea views and were separated by gender, providing a good level of privacy. Overall, it was a very satisfying trip, and I would definitely choose to stay at this hotel again next time.

A really nice resort hotel. The room was spacious, and the private onsen bath was very clean. The peculiar smell was likely from the tatami mats. We had the hotel's set menu for breakfast but didn't have dinner at the hotel. The supermarket next to Izu Kogen Station offers abundant sashimi, enough to eat your fill. The photos show the places we visited during our stay, and it was all very relaxing. Having seen some less favorable reviews, let me share my own experience. The hotel's occupancy is highly seasonal, so there might not be many staff members, but they all provided attentive service. During our stay, the station pick-up and drop-off service was always well-arranged. When I'm on vacation, I prefer to relax and not be disturbed, so I opted out of daily room cleaning. I've stayed at some older Japanese-style hotels, similar to those in areas like Shikoku's Oboke, and this level of service is pretty typical. Of course, perhaps I just haven't visited enough Japanese resort hotels to generalize. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. Don't set your expectations too high, but it delivers on all the essentials for a relaxing getaway.

This was my first visit to Izu. I compared several hotels in the area, and the one next door, which boasted a sea view, was literally double the price – frankly, a bit much. This hotel, in comparison, offered the best value for money. We booked a Japanese-style room with a direct sea view, which was incredibly comfortable. We were also treated to breathtaking scenery. The hotel facilities were comprehensive, and the cleanliness was excellent – certainly not as 'terrible' as some other reviews had suggested! The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Despite a slight language barrier with the Japanese staff, they generally understood our needs. On the second floor, besides the front desk, there's a lounge area featuring amenities like a pool table and game consoles – a really nice bonus! Choosing this hotel for our vacation truly exceeded our expectations. After all, getting great value for money is something Chinese travelers really prioritize!

The room was spotless and had a subtle, pleasant fragrance. Looking out from the room, I was instantly captivated and soothed by the stunning sea view – it was absolutely beautiful! I also enjoyed the hot spring on the 12th floor; not only did it offer a fantastic view, but after soaking, my skin felt wonderfully silky and incredibly relaxed. I ended up booking breakfast for the following day on the spot, and to my surprise, even I, who typically aren't particularly fond of Japanese cuisine, found their dishes incredibly delicious. Overall, it offers excellent value for money, and I'll definitely be back!

This hotel is a bit of a mixed bag. I booked it based on recommendations from a certain social media platform (likely Xiaohongshu). Service was virtually non-existent, and cleanliness was just average. A large pine tree right outside our room blocked half the view, though some might find it adds a certain charm or ambiance. The hotel was predominantly occupied by Chinese guests, most likely drawn in by the same social media recommendations. Izu Hokkawa is a tiny village. Its advantages are peace and quiet, and fewer crowds, but its main drawback is inconvenience. If you haven't pre-booked breakfast, you'll definitely need to purchase it elsewhere and bring it to the hotel. There's a Japanese restaurant and a small convenience store/supermarket nearby. You can freely enjoy the famous outdoor hot spring. Standing in it, you're directly facing the Pacific Ocean, which is truly an incredible experience. Watching the sunrise from here is also spectacular.

The hotel is in a remote location, and for 4000 RMB a night during a holiday, it was simply not worth the price. There's absolutely nothing around, and the hot spring facilities are old and run-down. To top it off, the famous Heigenyan Hot Spring, a popular influencer spot we had planned to visit, was closed without any prior notification. Seriously, do yourself a favor and avoid this place! This hotel was undoubtedly the biggest pitfall of our entire international trip. For anyone planning overseas travel, be extremely cautious when choosing hotels, particularly if you rely on platforms like Xiaohongshu or other domestic Chinese booking websites. Facilities: Poor. We even noticed leaks in some rooms, especially those situated near the hallways. Cleanliness: Mediocre. The hot spring facilities were old and worn out. Ambiance/Value: Extremely poor value for money, and absolutely no amenities or facilities nearby. Service: There was absolutely no service to speak of.

I regret booking my hotel in Izu too late. It coincided with a national holiday in Japan, which meant prices were inflated and good options were scarce. Despite this, I was quite pleased with Kitagawa Onsen. The hotel itself is a bit dated, but it was very clean. I was told it's Chinese-owned, and with Chinese staff at the front desk, communication was a breeze. While breakfast was a bit simple, the rooftop open-air onsen was superb, and I was even lucky enough to enjoy a private bath.

The room was damp. I had booked a 1.7m wide bed, but the room I was given had a different size, and after a prolonged attempt to communicate the issue, it remained unresolved. There were also bugs in the room. The breakfast was equally disappointing; I actually laughed when it was served. I've never encountered such a breakfast at a hotel in my life! Definitely not recommended!!! On a positive note, Ctrip's handling of the problems was quite good.

The room was fantastic, with stunning ocean views, and we even caught the sunrise! All our advance requests were perfectly handled by the hotel. The onsen was excellent too! I highly recommend the open-air bath on the rooftop. My friends and I went in the evening, and it was so uncrowded it felt like we had a private onsen to ourselves! Soaking in the hot spring, with the sea breeze and a starlit sky, was truly therapeutic for both body and mind. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful and their service was outstanding! Highly recommend! We'll definitely be back! P.S. Although there's a delicious local Japanese restaurant and a small shop right downstairs, the location is a bit secluded. If you happen to visit on their closing days, it could be inconvenient, so I'd suggest bringing your own snacks.

Very tranquil neighbourhood. Good traditional full japanese breakfast, as well as very traditional experience for onsen.

Magnificent view from my hotel room! Didn’t know hotel provides pickup and drop off services, just give them a call! I rolled my big suitcase down the steep hill and so on from the train station 😅. Love the restaurant next door, the sashimi was caught from the morning! Great hotel with nice onsen, you can enjoy onsen from your bathtubs too.

The hotel's location is excellent, with stunning ocean views. While there's no beach (not a fine sandy beach), I was able to witness the stunning sunsets and the crashing waves on the rocks during my visit – truly stunning. My only complaint was that the room I booked was on the top floor, which was quite... It was incredibly hot. Even with the air conditioning turned up high, I still broke out in a sweat. My daughter kept complaining about the heat in the morning. The next day, I ran the AC all day, finally bringing the temperature down a bit. The hotel's facilities are incredibly dated, and the wall-mounted air conditioner is underpowered. Furthermore, the common hallways lack air conditioning or ventilation, making it incredibly hot and stuffy. During my two-night stay, the room wasn't cleaned and was completely covered in trash. The door to the room looked like an emergency exit door. The breakfast was acceptable and beautifully presented. Although there were about ten plates, the portions on each plate can be compared to the "Jiang Zong is Busy" video. I managed to fill myself up with rice and a small piece of salmon (though I wasn't trying to eat much anyway, since I'm on a diet anyway). The restaurant on the third floor faces south, and even though it has two wall-mounted air conditioners, it's still incredibly hot! I worked myself into a sweat while eating, and lost all interest in enjoying the ocean view. The restaurant next to the hotel is actually quite good. Although I'd heard some negative reviews before going, the food was still quite good. The hot water in the bathroom is drawn from a hot spring, so it takes 10-20 minutes to come up, which is very inconvenient. The wait staff are mostly Indian, and their service is okay. I heard it's now owned by Chinese people. Overall, I won't be returning to this hotel, and I don't recommend it. After all, the price is not cheap, and the value for money is too low.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. I'm speechless. I spent over 6,000 RMB, and I didn't expect the cleanliness to be so poor! I stayed for two nights, but no one came to clean the place. The front desk staff were either Indian, Filipino, or Chinese. It's not that I'm hostile to any particular nationality, but I'm staying in a Japanese-style hotel, and how could there be so many unruly people? Also, the Kuroganewa Onsen was said to be broken and in need of repair when I checked in, so I didn't get to soak in this very chill onsen. What a shame! Thirdly, the moment you step into the hotel, you can smell the stench of a bathhouse in a third-tier city—the smell of a steam room, you know? The front desk staff were polite, no problem, but the service I expected was completely lacking. I regret it so much. Sometimes it looks okay at first glance in the photos, but when you look closer, it's completely unbearable. The room facilities are extremely old. Lying on the tatami mats and looking at the ceiling, there are traces of dampness. It's disgusting, and the entire hotel corridor also stinks.
