We had an excellent three-night stay at Riff Hikkaduwa. The staff were very attentive and always greeted us with a smile. The food was exceptional, with a wide variety of options to suit all culinary tastes. The rooftop bar and, in particular, the Japanese restaurant are a feather in the hotel’s cap.

We selected Hotel Riff Hikkaduwa for our family vacation as per a recommendation from my friend. This is a place of quality. Top-quality room service that pays close attention to individual customers. Well-concerned details on the room with a breath-taking balcony view. It has a bigger pool, a nice beach, and a nice view from the rooftop. Food is also delicious and mouth-watering. Honestly, we expected a buffet. But after tasting their set menu of five courses, our opinion was totally changed. Here we "ENJOYED" the fine dining. It was so great and far better than a typical buffet. Special thanks to chef Lahiru and his staff. Overall, we can give this more than 5 stars and would highly recommend it. We will definitely visit again.

Beautiful hotel on a stunning slice of beach in dreamy Hikkaduwa! We loved the aesthetic of the hotel, room was spacious, comfortable and clean with a stunning sea view and we were treated to a beautiful sunset every night. The pool and communal areas were well kept and serviced, well priced (especially the king coconuts!) and staff were friendly. Walking distance to beach restaurants and bars, close to the popular turtle beach and the excursion to see whales and dolphins (although an early start!) was well worth it.

My holiday at Riff was amazing! The rooms and views are top of the line. The staff are so attentive and always greets you with a smile. The workout facility was clean and offered a variety of machines. The food is also amazing. I will definitely be back again!

I’m don’t usually go full Karen-mode, but I’ve had two bad experiences at Riff Hikkaduwa in a span of 5 days, so I wanted to share my experience with others. The first time when me and my husband went to Riff, I was served raw chicken. They first said it’ll take 10 minutes to re-do the dish, and after the 10 minutes had passed, they suddenly said it’ll take another 15 minutes. We had only planned an hour for our lunch, so we had to leave and I had to be hungry for the rest of the day. We tried our luck again, the second time we went to the Japanese rooftop restaurant. When we first went up, we were seated at the bar “while they fix a table for us”. We sat there for 10 minutes, without seeing any progress with our table, while there were at least 2 empty tables where we could’ve easily been seated to. Also there were groups of people coming in who got a table and service before us, even though we were there first. When we finally got seated and served the food, it was very good. “Worth the wait,” we thought. In reality, we were hit again with a long waiting time for dessert which took them 50 minutes to bring out. The servers had little to none attention to us, we had to be the ones who made ourselves seen. Safe to say I’m incredibly dissapointed. I had super high hopes for this hotel as it looks absolutely stunning, but we gave it a chance twice, and it failed us both times.

Riff Hikkaduwa connects everything we have ever wanted from a hotel. The food served in all three restaurants was excellent. You could even try local Sri Lankan cuisine. The staff was super friendly and professional. Our room (Presidential Suite) was very clean, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped We had a breathtaking infinity pool on the balcony with a great view of the Indian Ocean.

Fantastic stay at a great hotel. Brilliant service. We spent the first four nights of our Sri Lanka trip at Riff. As a a family of 5 we had two first floor junior suites - and had a great time. The best hotel on our stay and one we would highly recommend to others. Beautiful beach, instagrammable pool and roof top bar views. Fantastic breakfasts. Staff very friendly. No real negatives at all - but being picky, the hotel gym wasn’t that good and could do with a bit of investment.

This was our second visit to The Riff with the last one being back in 2018. It was great to be back again and even better being treated well for being returning guests coming for the second time. What stood out this time is the quality of the food and the people. Everybody who works there is testament of a great hospitality business and how-to look after customers. From the front of house to the bar staff to the waiters , everybody is just so nice, warm and welcoming it just makes it a pleasure staying there. One person does stand out and that is the pool guy, he just goes overboard on everything he does and is paramount in providing a truly great service. Thanks to all the staff and people who again made out holiday so enjoyable and pleasurable. We hope to see you again in December

We had a very nice stay at the Riff. I arrived early so the staff kindly helped me use thr library which was very comfortable until the room could be allotted. The food is the best. The chef is amazing and we enjoyed Srilankan and International cuisine. The juices so fresh and we just couldn't get enough of the food. It is so good that we never wanted to eat outside even though the hotel is conveniently located near so many bars and restaurants. The desserts are not only visually appealing but super tasty. We used the SPA, this needs improvement definitely but I am sure they can in due course. On the rooms, good size and amazing views of the Indian Ocean and the beach is lovely. The staff is lovely like all people in Srilanka. However, the bathroom door is all glass opens towards the bedroom, generally in hotels bathroom doors entry is through the foyer area. There is a blind that you have to keep rolling up and down incase u need to get in and out of the bathroom. Very inconvenient. If there is scope, they should work on improving this as this causes a lot of inconvenience while sharing the room and at night could be disturbing with rolling up and down of the blinds to get in and out of the bathroom.
