Worst aspect was doors banging ALL night: no soft closures. Decor, furniture, + carpets dated and badly worn. No Tv: told only in DELUXE rooms! Bed comfortable & bedding clean, but no protector on pillows or mattress. First request at reception was for £15 per night (CASH only) for parking at the rear (not mentioned on booking site). Radiator was red hot and thermostat did not work. Bathroom generally clean BUT torn & mouldy net curtain at the window. Hubby stepped barefoot on floor to get in bath to find a small tile stuck to it! Best aspect was a large, deep bath and plentiful hot water and the location: central to Hove, with variety of restaurants, pubs and bars nearby.

Would you expect hot water? Yes but we didn't get any. I'll keep this review simple. Pros - wifi ok Pros - tea and coffee sachets Pros - toiletries provided Cons - no hot water in sink taps or shower at ANY point during the booking 3PM-10AM Cons - kettle missing Cons - hairdryer present but doesn't work Of course you can't then use your toiletries if the shower and sink doesn't provide heated water (staff at reception advised but were more concerned with asking whether we paid for parking a second time). Also tea and coffee making facilities are useless without a kettle. By the way, parking is cheaper overnight at Hove train station. I won't mention decor as everyone else has. I'd say that's the least of your worries if you had some of the problems we did (we booked 3 rooms on a Saturday night costing circa 350 GBP). A double room here is barely worth 30-40 a night! Not upwards of 150 here they charge at weekends.

Stayed here Sept 2nd over night, before attending a wedding at another location. It’s a budget hotel, and that is exactly what you get. Reception staff very helpful, great customer service, any issues we had they resolved. Yes it was tired, yes it was dated, and yes it needs a lot of money spending on it. It’s never going to be Hilton or Raddison. But we expected that, we needed a cheap room last minute with a bed. That’s what we got, If had I booked into jury’s I might have complained, but we hadn’t. So a serviceable room is what we got. Road was very quiet, most of the noise we heard was from sea gulls. Good location lots of places to eat and drink. Value for money for the price we paid.

Absolutely thilthy My partner and I visited this hotel with our 2 dogs We had room 218 which is on 2nd floor, lift wasn’t working so had to walk up 2 flights with our luggage and 2 dogs, the stair carpet was thilthy, We entered our room and it was absolute thilthy. I asked for the parking fee and the fee for the dogs to be returned as we decided to leave. The man on duty said he would upgrade us to deluxe room on ground floor, They have the audacity to say deluxe it was just as thilthy . The tv didn’t work which we was promised it would be fixed, but wasn’t the curtains were hanging off the track the mattress was thilthy So we left first thing in morning and made a complaint which fell on deaf ears. We spoke to a few people outside the hotel who shared the same experience and were leaving first thing as well. Also I expect noise in a hotel but this was horrendous. This place which cannot be classed as a hotel more of a hovel was not even fit for my 2 dogs let alone my partner and I. I will be complaining to trading standards. Photos attached

“Cesspit, Awful, Disgusting” Are words used by other people in reviews of this place and they are right… I’d also add Foul and Rancid to the list of adjectives. I was booked into here this week for 3 nights while working in the area but today I couldn’t face another night in this absolute joke of a “Hotel” and checked out early, I’d rather commute 2hrs from home until my work in Hove is done than stay another night here. The staff at front of house were friendly enough but that’s where the pleasantries end. The carpets are threadbare, the place is dirty and when I moved in to my cupboard of a room the view was worse than non existent. The carpet in my room was dirty and the towel… the towel almost made me vomit when I saw it. (I’m glad I brought my own) I’m glad I didn’t pay to stay here and it was paid for by the company I’m working for because they charged £96 per night to live in this squalor. Don’t do it! Avoid the Albany at all costs!

Reservation canceled at the last minute, deplorable and dishonest staff to flee at all costs. As much sleep outside as in this seedy hotel without interest cYou might as well sleep outside as in this shabby, uninteresting hotel with hosts who are particularly insensitive to our deplorable situation.

This is such a horrible hotel. Everything dated, dirty or broken or all three. I didn’t use the shower as I think I’d have felt dirtier after having using it, but the toilet didn’t flush properly and the sink tap was dripping continually. I can’t believe there are good reviews for this place - what are people possibly looking at and thinking yes, this is a nice place to stay? Also, I’m always very suspicious about businesses that insist on cash payments instead of card (£15 for the car park).

Well. I can't review the hotel but I can certainly review the customer service. On the morning my husband and I were due to stay, he tested positive for COVID. We contacted the hotel, fully aware that we may be unable to cancel the booking. We were however offered a full refund, provided we left a positive review. This was done, but unfortunately no refund was forthcoming. We were told it could take 9 days. It has now been 12 working days. I am disgusted that rather than just explaing that policy stated we could not have a refund, we were lied to in order to garner a positive review.
