Strathburn Hotel Inverurie by Compass Hospitality

Let’s start with the photos that you have on your website and on Trip advisor. They reflect nothing of how this hotel looks. These photos must have been taken when it first opened. We arrived early evening to check in. Our room was up a staircase which looked like the decoration hadn’t been touched for years. Our room was supposed to be a double room, it was far from it. We found a very small double bed which if you were a Borrower it would have been ideal. The curtains and linen were very old and washed to death. You couldn’t have swung a cat in that room. Well what can I say about the bathmat. I would not like to think what the stain was on it. The rubber anti slip mat for the bath was so old I think it was an original one when the hotel opened. We had a terrible nights sleep as the bed was so small, we had dare not turn over or we would have fell out of bed. This was obviously a single room with one bedside table and the smallest wardrobe ever. We arrived for breakfast the following morning in the very dated dining room. The staff member was very pleasant and took our order and said ‘please help yourself to the continental breakfast, of which the choice was a few boxes of cereals and only four slices of bread for five of the guests that were In the dining room. The fruit juice was so watered down, it was just flavoured water. Our cooked breakfast arrived (don’t get excited, you will be disappointed). The bacon was cooked to death, the scrambled egg was so dry, it was a though it had been cooked in the desert. The tomatoes tasted like they had been washed in disinfectant. Sad to say we couldn’t eat it, it was inedible. We were booked for four more nights but we had no choice but to check out. A bit of advice, the hotel needs an urgent update and the food really needs improving.

I booked a superior twin room for 2 nights for myself and my son.....we were attending a family wedding. Although nothing major wrong with room except a couple of stains on the carpets that were very noticeable and no biscuits to go with tea and coffee it was an ok room....but not in my opinion superior. Breakfast was nice. Staff lovely

Just a brief one night stay but room very comfortable. Old fashioned furniture but spotless . Staff very friendly and parking close to the entrance. Breakfast ok, not huge but perfectly adequate and served hot. Would stay again if in the area.

We had a lovely weekend here, its a very warm & welcoming hotel, our room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Ellie on reception was lovely, very friendly and served us drinks in the bar in the evening when the bar staff had gone. We didn't eat at the hotel, we walked into town after a day sightseeing. Would recommend and will stay again if in the area.

We stayed at this nice traditional hotel with another two couples at the weekend. Our rooms and the sitting areas were clean, warm and comfortable. Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice. The girl looking after us at breakfast time was so friendly and helpful. Thank you again.

There was nothing fancy about the bedroom (which I like), but the bed was supercomfortable, the room had everything we needed including good wifi, was warm on a very cold night, and the bathroom was fine. The shower was in the bath, but that meant there was a bath option. The food was excellent: old-fashioned Scottish cooking at its best, and breakfast was delicious, all at a very reasonable price. We'd definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Well were do i start the staff at reception were great,bar staff great and the room perfect,bed super comfortable,i would recommend this hotel,sadly I'm only there for one night,ill stay here again when im in the area and recommend to the office to use this hotel

The hotel was clean. Room 22 had a broken shower head holder which made it difficult to shower. The water in the morning was only luke warm. The toilet seat was broken. The room was clean and warm. I would stay again but would hope i didn't find the same kind of faults.

Lovely room, very clean with loads of space, friendly and helpful staff, breakfast good and plenty choice. Would stay again.
