Lanta Castaway Beach Resort

Great place, right on the beach with a bar and restaurant. Definitely recommend.

Our second visit to the CastAway and it continues to be a romantic, peaceful, tranquil place to get away. I encourage folks to check out their Facebook page to get a feel of the property. A typical day for us here would be to enjoy a beautifully prepared breakfast, Thai, European & American (Tex_Mex) available made-to-order. Then a long walk and swim on the pristine beach. Followed by the resort’s beach side massage. Time for a nap, then happy hour while watching the spectacular western skies as the sun sets into the horizon over the Andaman sea. Maybe dinner across the street at Joe’s for some remarkable Texas style BBQ. Can’t thank owner Darin enough for his and his team’s excellent hospitality. The Lanta CastAway is truly a magical place to stay.

Very nice resort at the beach with beautiful sunset. Nice bungalow. Staffs very friendly and helpful. Big breakfast. For the dinner you have delicious restaurant. The sunset you can enjoy at the bar. Central location but very quiet. Also you can enjoy the massage close to the beach

What an amazing place. Well taken care of. We slept 4 adults in the same house and it was spacious enough. Beautiful garden around the bungalows and we didn’t hear a sound from the nearby main road 100 m away. Beach full of small corals but just a short walk you can find nicer. Beds are great and different choices in breakfast is very generous. We really recommend this gorgeous place.

Nice beachside resort with beautiful, well cared for gardens and cozy bungalows that are clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for comfort in your room. Very comfortable beds and pillows which is a big deal when away from home as well. We stayed in 5 resorts on different Islands throughout Thailand, including Phuket during our 3 weeks in Thailand; this one was our top choice. The deck was wonderful to sit on and listen to the birds while relaxing after a day of exploring or first thing in the morning with coffee. It is also nice having a foot wash before stepping onto the deck, so you aren't tracking sand from the beach or elsewhere up onto it and then into your room. The beach is lovely and not overcrowded and there are quite a few restaurants within walking distance and a little convenience store very close by. The lovely ladies at the desk where you check in were very good and helpful in getting us a scooter arranged for 3 days and also upon our arrival from the Saladin Pier our taxi driver charged us double the price quoted by the resort upon our arrival. They gave my husband back 200 baht and were very angry at the driver for over charging! The resort is set far enough off the road and the bungalows are closer to the beach, so you do not hear any of the road traffic which is a big bonus as well. The only con is that they need to give guests larger bottles of water instead of 4 small glass bottles as those get used up very quickly when drinking, brushing teeth or making coffee.

The staff here are simply amazing. They were friendly and helpful, and so genuine! We stayed at the beachfront bungalow for six days and I can't recommend this hidden gem highly enough. I had a bit of stomach upset in the middle of our stay, and when my husband went out to breakfast without me, our server asked, "where's your wife?" He indicated I had an upset tummy and she suggested a hot soup with rice and ginger (which I am certain is not actually on the menu), and then she actually brought that soup to my room for me. The resort also offered to drive to a doctor's office, which ended up being not necessary because that soup totally worked, but I was blown away by this act of kindness. (Is it because I'm American?) Location is fantastic, with many small restaurants nearby along the beach as well the road, but the food here is so good you may not want to eat anywhere else. I'm still missing those Thai omelettes for breakfast and the pick-your-own fish option at dinner. We did enjoy the Funky Fish (a little bit up the beach) and Mama Dang's (right next door on the road). As others have noted, the beach here is best at high tide. The resort can help with scooter rental and Koh Lanta is not very crowded, so we had a blast exploring and going to nearby beaches, as well as Old Town Lanta on the other side of the island. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Very nice staff and management. Strange breakfast arrangement when included. You have to pay 80 B extra for a late or cappuccino which was simply unacceptable considering the price. Bar and staff were fine. Rooms could do with being refurbished but were kept clean.

Before Lanta Castaway, we were staying in a non-air conditioned bungalow so the ac here felt great! (Honestly, we didn't feel like we needed the ac to stay cool enough since the weather in November was great, but the benefits of ac is that you can keep all the doors/windows closed to keep out mosquitos). The room was good sized and clean. The garden walkway to the beach was well groomed and pretty. Breakfast was included and it was good. The best part were the beds/chairs overlooking the ocean. It was a bit rocky at low tide, but at high ride it was easily swimmable. The staff were nice and kind, but it did not have the same home-like feel as other places.
