This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay :) It was a truly rejuvenating experience. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent! If you're coming from Fukuoka Airport, it might be a bit of a trek since you have to take a shuttle bus from Yufuin up a mountain road. We came from Oita Airport, so it was manageable.
We stayed in the Kihada room, and the view was fantastic and very comfortable. We debated between a duplex and a single-floor room, but going with the single-floor was a great choice!!
Here are a few tips:
The convenience store (mae-ten) seemed to have fewer items than what I'd seen online. I highly recommend buying lunch at a convenience store BEFORE heading to the accommodation and then using the microwave in the mae-ten the next day to heat it up.
The open-air bath in the room has extremely hot water, but if you turn the valve, a mix of hot spring water and cold water gushes out. We initially thought the hot spring water gushed out piping hot, so we closed the valve and tried to add cold water from a nearby hose and showerhead, only to realize later – we really went through unnecessary trouble, haha.
All the staff were incredibly kind, and everything was perfect: the open-air bath at the accommodation, the delicious food, and the amazing view. They also provide pajamas and yukata. The complimentary beer, drinks, and snacks service were also top-notch. I definitely want to visit again later!
Highly recommended! 👍
