Hotel Kulusuk

Quite a remote (obviously) and welcoming hotel which has separate accommodation wings (we were on Erika wing). We stayed one night before moving on to Tasiilaq. We were on a full board basis, so enjoyed two lunches, one dinner and one breakfast. The food is very good quality, fish is super, as are the breads. Pukka teas available, a premium brand. Staff are all so friendly and welcoming. In fact the food here was the best and most consistent we had in Greenland. The accommodation reminds me of good quality student accommodation, thus functional and stark. That said the rooms are a decent size, are warm and comfortable. Desk with chairs plus kettle. Please note no hangers but a rail and for me, horror of horrors no hair dryer 😂. I didn't ask at reception to be fair so one may have been available. There is a wet room rather than a bath room. Water pressure good and plenty of hot water. Everywhere is clean. Ask at the reception for walks. A few options in late May when there was still a fair amount of snow. Short walk into town via the cemetery. If you are sensitive to light nights in the summer then I recommend bringing your eye mask as the curtains do not block out the light fully. There is such a friendly atmosphere here. I liked the wall paintings outside.

Jacob was great. My room had an amazing view and the bed was comfy, The food was good also.

It’s the only hotel (+restaurant) in the area so the owner doesn’t have any incentive to be nice. I arrived around noon, walked 15 minutes from the airport to the hotel. No one was in the lobby. I found the way to the restaurant and asked if I could buy lunch. The staff at the bar said they didn’t know if they could serve lunch. Someone else said something like there was no food today. I only had a light breakfast at 6am & was starving so I asked if they could do a sandwich, cook eggs or give me bread or anything. He said no. Right behind us were pastry leftovers from breakfast... I asked where I could buy lunch : no other restaurant and since it was Saturday the grocery store was also closed. The guy then told me that they was no food anywhere and they might not even be delivered food for dinner… and that I could go back to the airport as they had little food there. So I walked back to the airport. They had microwaved pizza slices, instant noodles and junk food. So I took what I could for lunch and instant noodles for dinner just in case. Went back to the hotel and saw a few guys outside smoking : the owner was there, said he was surprised to see me (there were only 2 flights arriving that day) and checked me in. I asked if they would have food for dinner & he snapped back that for years he’s been here and dinner was always served at 6. He didn’t listen when I tried to explain what happened. Owner is rude and seems to treat his staff poorly. Terrible experience.

Wonderful cozy hotel looking out at the peaks and glaciers of the east Greenland vastness. Rooms have two comfy beds, great showers, a bit of storage. Very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Food is plentiful and delicious and varied with something for everyone... Vegetarian to carnivore. Lots of good veggies,breads,fish,berries, cheeses, quiche, chicken, and much more. Walik to kulusuk is a short mile and town is beautifully sited with excellent local museum.

That is the only hotel on the island so, nothing to compare it with. The owner is nice and helpful and the service was really good.

I was there with an organized tour group so did not pay directly for my room. Room was fine, nice bathroom. Kettle in room. Windows that you could open. Very nice buffet meals a with nice selections. Draft beer at the bar. Better that I was expecting!

I was in Kulusuk for work, and stayed a week in Hotel Kulusuk. Excellent rooms, excellent service, excellent view, excellent staff (especially Jakob), excellent food. Everything was perfect, and I am looking forward to come back!

Quality comfort in the rugged and beautiful East Greenlandic landscape. Outstanding food and friendly staff.
