Kurashiki Royal Art Hotel

There is a nice comfy feel about this hotel. Possibly due to there being less hustle and bustle from the previous hotels we have stayed in on this 18 day tour. First one with a separate shower and no step into bathroom! Very quite rooms albeit quite dark. Breakfast was poorest we have had so far but given most of the guests are Asian it was going to happen sooner or later. The only eggs on offer, apart from a poor attempt at French toast, were a very watery scrambled eggs. No taste so probably made from powder or granules. East walking to river and Main Street. A very relaxing town with nice feel to it and plenty of dining options around with a slower pace than other places we have stopped at.
Hotel Livemax Okayama Kurashiki Ekimae

The bed is very wide and convenient, with sockets and USB beside the bed. Because the hotel cannot store luggage when the front desk is away, it is inconvenient, which is the only drawback.
Toyoko Inn Kurashiki-eki Minami-guchi

Since it is a safe and stable Toyoko Inn, I was able to stay with the same facilities as other Toyoko Inns. It is located in a very convenient location, located between the station and the Bikan Historical Quarter. There are many restaurants around, so you don't have to worry about the restaurant. I was able to stay very comfortable and convenient.
Ryori Ryokan Tsurugata

This hotel has a Chinese name ”Hotel Crane” Ctrip translation of the detour ”Ri Ori Konte Sky Tower Hotel” locals do not understand, causing us Chinese people to ask for directions! This is a hotel with more than 300 years of old buildings. It is next to the small river. There is a toilet in the room that cannot take a bath. Therefore, there is a public men and women bath. Breakfast is a general Japanese breakfast. Because the place is small, it is necessary to eat in time. You can stay after 5 pm. Check out at 10 am, quite strange time period, but the service is first-class, we arrived early for luggage storage, the time to enter the room luggage has been put, tatami pure Japanese-style room although it is a historical building, but everything is still methodical! Kurashiki is a small place, the most lively sightseeing area near the hotel, many interesting shops!
Hostel Cuore Kurashiki

I spent one night in Kurashiki on my way to Takamatsu. I arrived rather late but still went for a walk around the canal in the old town - definitely worth it as it’s much quieter than during the day. Same thing for an early morning walk, great for pictures. Hostel Cuore has a nice bar downstairs, where you also check in and check out. The female dorm was very comfortable, it’s more as if you have your own mini-room: the upper ‘pods’ have real stairs to climb up to them instead of a ladder. There is a curtain in front of every pod-entrance, so lots of privacy (apart from the curtain for the external window that was lacking right in front of my bed). I did miss a fridge in the tiny common room though, where kitchen facilities seemed very limited. It’s very close to the old quarter, in a perfect location. I went for lunch at the Mamakari-tei, they only serve the famous ‘sardines’ with their most expensive menu set, but it was definitely worth it. I visited several of the sites: - Ohara museum of art: I skipped the part with western painting but enjoyed the Asian section. In the morning there was also a hall open with views of the garden, worth a look. - Ohashi house: lovely place with a really enchanting tea house at the end of the tour. You can order the tea in the previous stop ( the library if I remember well) but have it served in the teahouse with a view of the garden. Lovely and quiet experience, nice chat with the lady working there. - I skipped the toy and Momotaro museums as I had no specific interest in them and didn’t want to overload the day - Kurabo memorial hall: not a lot of English captions, but if you like old pictures of the industrial heritage of the area, this is a nice stop - Achi-jinja: lovely shrine just a short climb up from the old quarter. Very atmospheric and quiet. - Craft museum: well presented, nice souvenir shop I ended up buying quite some souvenirs here: some cute toys and products made from the fabric that is used in tatami mats.

There are few choices to apply with trains from travel companies and choose this one which was the cheapest. It is close to 3 ~ 5 minutes from the station. However, the entrance is not facing the main street and from the side road with many cars. There are a little stairs, so it may be a little inconvenient if you are a big luggage. Alcohol is installed in front of the elevator. 5 floor is the front desk. There is also a disinfectant at the front desk. The front desk was beautiful. It was a single room on the 9th floor, but it is still small. I often wanted a folded luggage locking place in the hotel. The chair was also large, so it was disturbing。 The slippers are not disposable, and even if you ask the front desk, they are not disposable, so you should bring them. Other amenities are the type brought from the front desk. The minimum hanging and soap are in the room. Hair caps and cotton swabs come from below. Tea is also in the room. Only 1 bags. Tea and coffee are brought from below. There were many word of mouth that the water was difficult, but there was no difficulty. However, there was still an old smell. Then, it may be painful in midwinter that the water supply only comes out of the water and has to be pulled from the shower. As the word of mouth, there is only rinse in shampoo and body soap, so if you have a shampoo conditioner, you should bring it. And I thought it was unusual to be soap instead of hand soap. The towel is a foot swallow + bath towel + face towel, so I thought it would be good at the time when I had another hand. Because I wash my hands quite. The air conditioner was also available in the room. I thought I would like to have an air cleaner and disinfectant in the whole room in the present situation. In my case, I just sleep, so I don't inconvenience it so far, but I think it's not very rough if I want to relax in the room. It is near the station and is not far from the beauty district, so I think it is good for those who want to walk around. And if it is unfortunate and the next door is noisy, it is the worst. When I checked in, the next person was talking on the phone all the time and I heard it. The sound is quite right. It was okay because it was quiet at night. So it was not possible or not.
