Hotel Nord Otaru is just next to Otaru Canal, very convenient location. Especially wanted to choose this lovely hotel which I stayed 10 years ago in year 2015 with my family of 5 person. Booked to stay 3 nights in 2 rooms, one with Otaru Canal view and another with city view. Breakfast is considered good and satisfactory, with snowy canal view.Although is an old classic hotel but is nostalgic to me, clean and well-maintained. Staff service is good but please note one of my room somehow came with no cleaning room service, additional charge 500 yen per day to clean it. For my another room that has daily room cleaning service, just make sure remember to place outside the door knob, the hanging door card requiring room cleaning, else they will not clean. All is clearly explained by staff and also stated in a note given on the day when you checked into your room. Overall, I am happy with the stay and will come back same hotel again.

We booked a room with twin beds hoping it is bigger and allows us to open two large luggages. The room is very clean and modern. The staff is very polit and my room has a very nice view. It is very convenient and just around 10 mins walk to the cancel and shopping street and many restaurants around. As we were too tired so didn’t use its public bath but they offer coffee in day time which is good. In fact, what surprised me was the breakfast. Though it is a buffet in a small area, but it has enough variety, with many local food and delicious. Just think it would be even better if the room can be maintained better as the furniture got some dated signs.

Amazing
GGuest UserThis was the best hotel of our trip. From check-in to check-out, we felt the warmth and saw the smiles of the staff throughout. The included dinner was delicious and exquisite. The set breakfast was also pretty good. The hotel offers a variety of entertainment activities and facilities, so you won't get bored at all, and the environment is beautiful. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great; you can hear doors opening and closing from upstairs and next door.
GGuest UserThe food was delicious, and the large public bath was simply fantastic. Despite being the priciest hotel I've ever stayed at, I definitely felt it was worth every penny.
GGuest UserThe hotel's location is superb, within walking distance to Otaru Canal and Sankaku Market. The hotel design is elegant and refined, with a vintage touch. The 5-person loft room feels spacious. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area. The restaurant windows are adorned with charming Otaru glass elements. I really enjoyed the hotel's happy hour wine tasting, and I loved spending a relaxing time in the beautiful bar.
VverazheConveniently located within a 10-minute walk to Otaru Station and the canal. There's also a direct bus to Mount Tengu right outside the hotel. The hotel has a bit of a vintage feel, and the rooms are quite old-fashioned in style. The window view from the top floor restaurant is truly beautiful. The 11th floor offers a Western-style breakfast, while the 3rd floor has Japanese set meals, so you can choose what you prefer. There's also a large public bath on the 3rd floor for soaking.
GGuest UserDo NOT choose this hotel for skiing!! Unless it's half the price during the same period, I'll never pick this place again. Prioritize other hotels with shuttle buses to Otaru Station.
First, the location: This is Otaru-Chikko Station, two stops away from Otaru Station. The nearest convenience store is a 10-minute walk outside. Although there's a mall downstairs, its operating hours are 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM, which is the only time you can use the indoor passage. Most restaurants close around 7 PM, so it's really inconvenient to find food after skiing.
Second, it's really old! The carpet in my room type was dirty, the bed was rock hard, and the pillow felt like a worn-out cotton pillow – small and flat. The worst part is that after sleeping, my head developed small bumps and became very itchy!! I don't know if it was fleas, but it made me scratch my head for the next few days. The hygiene is truly concerning.
This hotel has no coin-operated washing machines or laundry rooms, only individual dry cleaning, which is very expensive. This is super inconvenient for skiers staying for an extended period.
frankly, the only good thing about this hotel is the room size; everything else is a huge letdown.
AAnonymous UserIt was a cute boutique hotel with nice bonus facilities! Room is nicely designed and functional, with warm colors feel homey and comfy. Too bad we didn’t get the bath tub room as they were fully booked. Views from the window is mountaneous area, very nice! Bed and pillows are comfortable. Surface area for stuff are generous and practical, even enough space for sofa. Too bad they don’t give free coffee or at least instant coffee, only tea. No onsen. Music box night was awesome! Feels like a romantic dinner setting, but the smell of lamp oil was too much, gave me headache so I couldn’t stay for long, even though I would love to support the hotels and all of the polite and friendly staff by dining there. Staff are wonderful, smiles and polite and professional! During this trip we felt like Japanese staff in general are becoming a bit cold toward tourists but this hotel’s staff are not like that! We appreciate you guys. Thank you!
SScudLimCozy Inn is superb, can easily be reached by bus or by car. Plenty of parking spaces. Room is big and clean. Close to Aeon and Daiso. Walkable to the canal if you are not driving. Check in uses machine and strictly only after 3pm, so do not come early. Overall, I highly recommend!
GGuest UserThis apartment offers a practical and comfortable stay, especially for those looking to explore Otaru on foot. We appreciated the basic utensils and cutlery provided, making it easy to prepare simple meals. The thoughtful inclusion of toothbrushes and toothpaste was a nice touch, and the microwave was handy for quick reheats.
Comfort is well-addressed with one air-conditioner and a heater, ensuring a pleasant temperature regardless of the weather. The washing machine was a huge convenience, and we had options for drying clothes either on the hanger stand inside the room or on the balcony.
The location is a major highlight, being within easy walking distance to both Otaru Canal and Sakaimachi Street. We also found it convenient to have a Lawson and various eateries nearby, though it's a good idea to check their opening hours as they can vary.
Important Considerations for Your Stay
While the location is excellent, it's important to note that the road leading to the building is steep. This could be particularly challenging if you're driving, and we would not advise driving during winter due to the road conditions.
For those with a car, there are two parking areas available. The closer one has three slots, while a slightly further option offers approximately 12 slots. Keep this in mind, especially if you prioritize a closer parking spot.
GGuest UserFacilities: The elevator was out of order when we checked in. Whether it was due to our arrival time or not, carrying our luggage up to the third floor was quite tiring. On a positive note, the bed was a good size, larger than typical Japanese hotel beds.
Location: It's a 10-minute walk from Otaru JR Station and very convenient for accessing the canal.
Check-in: The check-in process was electronic, requiring us to fill out information and review instructions beforehand.
