The best thing about this hotel is the location, it’s at the entrance of Jonker Street, where there are many food outlets and selections. During weekends the whole street turn into a night market with lots of food stalls. There are also many pubs along the river side within walking distance. As the room, it was clean and aircon was very strong, it was good for the hot days during my stay.

I made a last minute booking without expecting anything. But, I made the best choice! This hotel is located perfectly within Jonker area. The man at the counter, he was kind, attentive and always smiling. The room, it was spotless, bedding was clean and comfy. The toilet was very clean and spotless. The water running a little slow, heater was not really working. These are part can be working on to improve. Other than that! Value for money!

Mixed Experience – Not Worth the Price
Location:
The hotel is within walking distance of Jonker Street. However, weekend road closures make it difficult to access the hotel by GrabCar or GrabFood. The nearest pickup/drop-off point is at Public Bank Melaka, which can be inconvenient for those relying on car transport.
Room:
Standard Family room is pretty small in size, and it does not felt like 28㎡. Likely we were given the smallest room size among the same category as I manage to take a look into another Standard Family room which is much spacious when I was about to check-out.
Room cleanliness was lacking, with tea and sugar sachets left scattered in the cabinets.
Sound proof needs improvement.
Facilities:
Security is a concern as there is no key card access control for rooms or lifts, allowing public access. The room furniture was not well-maintained (slanted table, peeling wall paint).
The VR room was largely non-functional, only 1 of 4 machines was working during my stay, and access required a staff escort. The room has 2 fixed short hour time slots.
Accessibility is also poor. Many rooms require climbing stairs, even on the ground floor, making it challenging for guests with heavy luggage. The only lift available is small, slow, and it felt like a home elevator primarily intended for handicapped access instead of the normal lift type.
Service:
There is a strict check-in policy. Early check-in, e.g. 1 hour before the standard time will incur a MYR50 charge. Out of the 3 hotels I stayed at in Melaka, this was the only one with such a policy. There isn't much of an engagement of the staff with the guests as well.
Overall:
The stay experience did not justify the price paid. Maintenance, accessibility, and service standards is a letdown.

Pleasant Stay at Baba Hotel Malacca (Level 2 Room)
This wasn’t my first time staying at Baba Hotel Malacca, and overall, it was another pleasant experience.
We were assigned a room on Level 2. The room size was decent for two people, with a comfortable bed that provided a good night’s rest. There was no weird smell in the room, and the towels were fresh and pleasantly fragrant, which I really appreciated.
The bathroom had strong water pressure and no drainage issues, which is often overlooked but makes a difference. However, the basin water flow was a bit slow, and I feel the bathroom could benefit from a proper ventilation fan. Also, cleanliness between the tiles could be improved for a better overall feel.
One noticeable improvement during this visit was the internet speed, which was better than before—perhaps due to a different room location within the hotel.
That said, noise insulation could still be improved, as sounds from the corridor or neighboring rooms were occasionally audible.
A special mention to the FOM/DM, who was very friendly and attentive—really made us feel welcome. The same goes for the other staff members, who were equally warm and helpful throughout our stay.
All in all, it’s a comfortable and convenient place to stay in Malacca, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.

The place is furnished with beautiful antique furnitures, it is good if you love antique Chinese furnitures and get photos. Crews are very friendly and helpful, location is good, 1 min walk to jonker street. The room however is very basic, quite small and you could say old. Sprung mattress where you can feel the spring and the bed creeks when you move. Aircond and water heater was ok. There’s no bidet in toilet. Amenities are good. A very very basic room.
Overall, if you want to take nice photos, yes. Room wise, don’t expect too much.
Added value, free buffet breakfast, nice 👍

The room was very clean and spacious. Bedding and towels were comfortable and soft. The shower pressure and water temperature were fantastic. The air conditioner was quiet and effective.
The receptionist was very kind and helpful. The hotel itself is situated close to Jonker walk which made it very convenient to travel round
The only downside I found with the room was that the walls were quite thin/the room itself has a connecting door to another room so I could hear the other guests talking/using the toilet

The location is good and it is quiet, but it was a little inconvenient because there was no refrigerator. Overall, I think I was satisfied as an individual backpacker.

This is our second stay at this hotel. We love the environment, service, and location. It is very homey in many ways. During our second stay, we also noticed the beautiful acrylic art paintings created by talented artists! We highly recommend this hotel to travellers!

The room was literally a small cubicle and so there was not much moving around, except to be in the bed. Actually, the bathroom had more space to be comfortable in, although just very basic. The WiFi did not work and so I missed on on some important transactions and communications. I had to go out into the hallway to get signal to communicate the following morning. The view to the river was the best thing about being in the hotel, we could look outside. This hotel is best if most of your time will be spent outside and you are only coming in to sleep and freshen up, then it’s ok. If comfort, modern ambience and technology are important, then you need to make decision with these things in mind. We appreciated the gift token at the end of our stay, it put a smile on our face.

Outstanding
GGuest UserMy little trip is over.
Guan Gong Hotel is great. I compared so many hotels before finally settling on this one:
First, the name really appealed to me; it exudes righteousness and a sense of security.
Second, being a 25-year-old hotel, it's clean. When comparing many hotels in Malacca, I found the cleanliness to be poor and the facilities to be outdated. Looking at the pictures, this hotel is indeed spotless, which made me feel very comfortable.
The amenities are all new, and the overhead shower is clean and powerful.
Third, the location is fantastic. It's right on Jonker Street, close to several popular Nyonya restaurants, making it convenient for dining. The Nyonya photo studio is also nearby, so I don't have to worry about being late for an early appointment.
Taxi access is convenient through the nearby back door. The front door is right next to the ”Malacca River” (I'm not sure what it's called), and across the river is the Dutch Red House. All the attractions are nearby.
Fourth, it's right at my doorstep on weekends, making it safe at night. Fifth, the front desk guy, the other staff, and the owner were all incredibly nice. Because our room type needed to change, the guy worked incredibly hard to help us communicate with the owner, who was incredibly considerate and promptly agreed to the adjustment. The other staff were also very welcoming and helpful, offering recommendations for places to visit.
From the room itself to the service, I give it five stars! I'll definitely be back next time.

Amazing
AAnonymous UserThe atmosphere of the whole homestay is very comfortable and relaxing. The layout of the room is the same as the photos provided by the homestay. The air-conditioning is very cold and clean. Toiletries and hair dryers are provided. A few steps away is Jonker Street, and a few steps away from the back door is Lorong Seni and The Old Station Cafe. You need to check in to get to the room area, which makes people feel at ease. Recommended!

CCatherineminvOverall, it was very comfortable to live in. The house is very large and has two floors. It has a TV and a KTV. However, I don’t know how to use the KTV. I spent a long time researching it when I first started using it. I brought two small dogs here this time. They are pet-friendly. I prepared the items for the dogs. I have to pay a deposit of RM200 before check-in. It will be refunded after confirmation after check-out. The communication with the landlord was smooth. The location is very close to Chinatown. It is also very close to the Red House and can be reached on foot. The overall experience is very good! Will come back again! The only drawback is that there are a lot of mosquitoes. Even though the homeowner lit mosquito coils, there were still mosquitoes and I got a few bites. I hope the homeowner will pay more attention to mosquito control in the future! Next, the room is close to the road. People who sleep on the side of the window can easily hear the sounds outside. People who sleep lightly are advised to stay away from the window! The bed is very comfortable, with moderate firmness and softness for me. Overall, it’s good. The price was about RM300 when I booked it, so the CP value is good! This time we are staying with 4 people, and the maximum number can be 6 people. The more people there are, the higher the CP value is! If the price hasn’t increased, I highly recommend it!

FFasyulaThis was our second stay here, and overall, we had a good experience. The location is great—close to top attractions and easily walkable. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, making for a restful night.
However, we were a bit disappointed this time. At 11:25 AM, a cleaner unlocked our room using their key card, even though checkout time is at 12 PM. Thankfully, my husband was with me at the time. Also, the loud chatter from their walkie-talkies outside was quite disruptive.

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the Heritage district of Melaka, meaning that it is surrounded by some of the most interesting and prettiest buildings, including cafes and museums. It's close enough to easily get to tourist sites like Jonker Street and the Dutch Square, but far enough away that you don't have to worry about noise disturbing your rest. The inside of the hotel is so pretty. If we had stayed longer, we would have loved to have coffee in the lobby or the courtyard.
Our room was absolutely perfect. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and had great water pressure in the shower, and the bathrobes that were provided were lovely and fluffy. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Melaka.

TTAKUMALocated in Chinatown, it is a very convenient place for sightseeing.
It is a hotel with a retro appearance that makes you feel the history.
It's old, but it's reasonably clean
It was a room with a window, but the shutters facing the courtyard were closed, so it was virtually a windowless room.

GGuest UserCentral location, Jonker street is 60 steps away. Can be noisy. Parking is at the adjacent property payable at RM 15 per night. All rooms share the same common 4 bathrooms which double up as toilets. This is a hostel with individual rooms, not a hotel. Aircon is cold, just give it time. Sheets are clean and comfortable. In terms of it being a hostel, it is above average. The hostel is located on the second floor onwards, walk up the stairs and reception is on level 2.
