We initially booked just two nights at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne, but the outstanding service we received made us extend our stay—and I’m so glad we did. The level of attentiveness and genuine care shown by the staff truly elevated our experience.
One moment that stood out was during breakfast. My husband asked a staff member at the pastry section whether the items were halal. She explained it to him politely, and to our surprise, about 15 minutes later, the Assistant Director of the restaurant, Mr. Albert, personally came to our table. He took the time to explain the halal options available and even assured us that eggs could be prepared using separate utensils.
While I was getting bread, Mr. Albert noticed and came over again, kindly asking if I would like my eggs prepared then. He immediately instructed the chef to prepare eggs and nuggets for me and told me to sit comfortably while he arranged everything to be brought over.
His thoughtfulness and proactive service left a lasting impression. It’s rare to see such initiative and care, and it made me feel confident that I had chosen the right hotel.
I will definitely recommend Grand Hyatt Melbourne to my family and friends. The hotel is fortunate to have a staff member like Mr. Albert—he truly deserves recognition for his outstanding hospitality.

Got to the hotel early and our room was not available. Sat in the check in area for an hour because we were too tired frombour red eye flight. And the kind staff offered us a free upgrade so we can check into our room earlier. We managed to catch some sleep before heading out. Hotel was clean and location was excellent. The room was spacious, but the arrangement was a bit weird as you can see from the location of the sink. Water pressure was low and a full body mirror would be nice. Overall, good hotel and thank you to the staff who let us check in early.

The hotel is located in the CBD. We are able to access to the places of interest and shopping centre easily. The shopping centre is just opposite the hotel. The hotel staff iis friendly, provides immediate assistance when I enquire for baggage storage. Though there is a notice about on the 3rd day room service but there was room service on the next day of our stay. Highly recommended

I have no specific request to rooms but I just want an early check-in. I think it was Natalie checking me in and she was super nice. She managed to offer me a room and it was close enough to the lifts! Everything was so good. The breakfast was a bit disappointing. However it’s included so still acceptable, 6/10.
Well done to the front desk staffs and housekeeping staff, and whoever cleaned my room, I wanna give credit to them because they even adjust the map on my table to match the direction of the entry door.
Location is super duper brilliant. 1-2 mins walk from Southern Cross Station and seconds to Bourke Street tram. I could easily get access to trams and the Skybus!
Would definitely recommend to stay!

We (wife n my 13 years old son) recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the room. The bed was much smaller than expected, which made it uncomfortable for a good night's sleep. Additionally, the air conditioning didn’t seem to work properly – it wasn’t cold enough to cool the room, leaving it uncomfortably warm throughout the night. For the price, I expected better quality and more comfort. I hope the hotel can improve these aspects for future guests.

First time booking a stay at this hotel and it was really value for money! Location was great, room size was quite significant (there was a kitchenette attached) and bed was really comfortable. Will definitely rebook in future.

This hotel is near the southern cross station which is the destination of the skybus from airport. It’s very convenient to go back and forth to the southern cross station. In CBD, there is a free tram zone in which people have no needa tap on or off their myki card, and the hotel is close to tram stations too. Also, it’s walking distance between the hotel and flinders station/ Lune/ Pidapipó CBD. If you book one day tour, tour guide usually pick you up at Great Southern Hotel, which is next to this hotel.
The hotel offers 247 reception. Check-in and Check-out were quick. Body wash and shampoo were provided, but not toothpaste and toothbrush.
The room was small but good enough for a person.
The room was tidy.

Wonderful hotel in a fantastic location, close to trams, restaurants and cafes. Service from the hotel staff was excellent. We especially loved the water tap and refillable water bottles. Rooms were great, very stylish.
There were only two issues we had:
1. The elevator was tricky to use. Even though we would select our floor beforehand, the elevator sensor wouldn't check our key card and we would have to get off at another floor and try again. This happened to us a few times. We encountered other guests with the same problem.
2. The taps in the bathrooms are not ergonomic. The smooth round knob is challenging to handle when you have soapy hands.
These issues were minor in the overall stay. Overall, it was a great experience and we enjoyed our stay over the Grand Prix weekend. Thank you, Voco! Highly recommend this hotel.

Situated within the free tram zone, stations are just downstairs if not within a quick walk. The king bed room is large and spacious for easy packing and unpacking. It is new and clean that is the carpet has no smell. It is near Chinatown as well. The location is perfect next to great shopping malls, food options and transport services. They do not provide toothbrushes and room slippers for eco reasons. Check in was fast and smooth. There’s a water station on my floor to get a jug of still or sparkling water.

I recently stayed at Ibis Styles Kingsgate in Melbourne for a few nights, and my experience was a mix of positives and disappointments. The hotel is in a great location in the CBD, just a short walk from Southern Cross Station, which made getting there from the airport easy via SkyBus. Trams are also nearby, so getting around the city was no hassle.
The single room I booked was compact but functional. The decor was simple, and the bed was comfortable enough for a budget stay. However, I had some issues with the cleanliness and condition of the furnishings. The room felt a little outdated, and the bed linen had visible wear and tear. Housekeeping was not up to standard, and I even encountered damaged bedding with exposed stuffing, which was quite off-putting. While the staff were friendly when approached, the overall maintenance of the hotel definitely needs improvement.
One of the nicer aspects of the hotel was the common areas. The lounge had a cozy atmosphere, with bookshelves and warm lighting that gave off a heritage-style charm, which was a contrast to the actual room experience. The facilities were basic, but for a budget stay, they were acceptable.
The price was reasonable for a centrally located hotel, but considering the issues with cleanliness and room upkeep, I expected better. It’s an okay option if you’re after an affordable place to stay in the city, but be prepared for some compromises. If they improved their maintenance and housekeeping, it would be a much better value-for-money choice.

XXiaojiaCame here as a ‘staycation’ for one night to celebrate my partners birthday. Service was good, the reception team made us feel so welcomed. Room was clean and the view of the river and bay was superior, as the name of this room type described. 10/10 👍🏼 we also used the gym which had a nice view too!

AAnonymous UserThe room was very clean and quiet, and the front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. However, one major disappointment was the “city view” — despite purchasing a city view room, there was no actual city view, which was quite disappointing at first. That said, the outstanding service made up for it overall.
The pillow selection in the room was very limited and the pillows themselves were quite small and uncomfortable — they didn’t really feel like proper pillows, which was also disappointing. Additionally, the desk lamp was not working properly and kept flashing, and the room lighting setup was inconvenient; there was no option to select which areas to light up, so the room often felt too bright.
The room service menu offered very limited food choices, so we ended up going out for both dinner and breakfast. Lastly, the shower head switch was extremely tight and difficult to turn, which needs improvement.

AAnonymous UserPerfect location for train travelling, the hotel just apposite the southern Cross station, and the free tram ride just outside the hotel. There is no shower screen in the bath room so it is wet after showering. The shampoo bottle is locked to restrict usage so very difficult to press the bottle.

GGuest UserThe room is large, both bedrooms have bathrooms, and a public bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped, the living room and dining room are large, and there are three balconies. The scenery is good, and it is perfect for family travel. There is a convenience store downstairs, which is very convenient. It's not far from the Melbourne Cricket Ground. If Swift's concert hadn't caused the house price to rise so much, I would have stayed here for 6 nights. The shortcomings are that I didn’t clean the room on the last day. I don’t know if I forgot about it.

GgowanchaidotcomWe stayed altogether three nights here. The hotel was converted from a historical building dated back to 1890s . We enjoyed the stay-included breakfast at Alluvial restaurant. It got charming vibe. the King Classic room we stayed is spacious consider it is in zone 1 of Melbourne. The hotel is in walking distance to many of the Melbourne city attractions we are even able to take some rest in the room in our planned city walking trip in the middle of a very hot summer sunny day.
The bathroom provides Byredo toiletries which we like. However, the decor is a bit dated and need refreshing and we are not happy with the service level of the staff. For example, the phone handfree function is not working properly; the safe is according to the hotel ”in the process of replacement” and not working either; the call to ”Instant Service” for help often took more than 5-seconds ring especially during the night time. There is even a false fire alert during one of the morning time of our stay. I doubt it is a standard of Intercontinental hotel or a 5-star rated hotel.
For whom consider staying at this room type of this hotel, please note the windows is fixed and facing the hallway so the room has 1. no natural sunlight 2. no fresh air and 3. needs closing the curtains all the time if you prefer privacy. Another point worth noting is the bathroom floor is very slippery after bath, I would call it a death trap if you wear the one-off slippers that is provided in the room as you can easily get a slip and fall on the bathroom floor even for a grown adult.

SShi TingMy girl loves this hotel as the location is just perfect. It's conveniently situated within the free tram zone, giving you the option to easily hop on a tram whenever you're tired of walking. There are convenient shops, restaurants and cafes within walking distance, and even a few fast food options nearby when you return late from tours - which is particularly helpful since most restaurants close quite early in the area.

YYeungI am travelling alone. Given I am watching a couple of night sessions at Australian Open I need somewhere which is within walking distance from the Melbourne Park. Overall you get what you paid for. One bed in a dorm of 8 ppl costs just under HKD $300 is a good price. The atmosphere in the hostel is good and those youth are enjoying themselves just like my boarding school days, just that now I am approaching half century. The shared washroom, bathroom and kitchen are good. The bed is with limited space with a cupboard where you can lock with your own lock which I am glad I took one. There was a bit of smell in the cabin I stayed and hence I believe that is why all four fans as well as the windows are always on. Staff is helpful and well mannered. I would say it is very reasonable given the price.
