"Except for the excellent location (nearest to Tobu-Nikko Station and the buses stops to various locations and places of interest, the hotel is badly in need of upgrades for it's rooms, facilities and amenities.
The room I stayed in is big (compared to most hotel rooms in Japan) but the toilet seat cover keeps falling down while using it.
Plenty of cobwebs at corners , especially along the corridor.
The bathroom taps is like a 'makeshift' upgrade shared by basin and bathtub. See photo.
Good thing is that I can see upgrading and renovation taking place but seems like it has been going on for a very long time already."

Great
AAnonymous UserFirst of all, let me praise the hotel's service. It is simply a model. You can experience 100% care, 100% seriousness, and 100% diligence. In addition to meeting the various requirements of guests, a tip is that when you arrive at Kinugawa Onsen Station, you don’t need to take a ride. Let the hotel know in advance and the hotel will send a car to pick you up at the station. Of course, it will also be delivered to the station. In fact, the station is not far from the hotel, only a few hundred meters, and it is quite fast to walk there.
The restaurant's food quality is good, whether for breakfast or dinner, it is worthy of praise. Sometimes the restaurant is full of customers and the three waitresses keep running around. It’s so hard.
The hot spring water is so hot that I'll be sweating after a while.
The room is large in size and the facilities are average.
Because the price is not expensive, there are so many guests here that it is always full. Yes, a good hotel will naturally attract more people.
GGuest UserThis hotel is expensive, but the service is disappointing. First, no one helped me carry my luggage to my room.
Second, during the buffet dinner, they kept running out of melons, and in the last ten minutes, they were completely out of melons. They told me to wait five more minutes, saying they would come back one last time. But there was nothing. I feel that for a buffet, to simply stop serving food in the last ten minutes is a very bad form of fraud. Since the hotel is unwilling to honor its promises to save a little money, I think I will probably not return to this hotel anymore.
GGuest User🌿 A Perfect Escape into Nature! 🌿
This hotel truly exceeded my expectations. The view is simply breathtaking — one of the best I’ve ever experienced! From the moment I arrived, I felt my mind and body completely relax. The serene natural surroundings, peaceful ambiance, and fresh air made it the perfect getaway from daily life.
The food was delicious with great variety, and every meal felt special. The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help — making the stay even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and recharge your energy, this hotel is the ideal choice. Highly recommended for anyone who values comfort, peace, and a touch of natural beauty! 🌸✨
TThe5thStudioNestled along the shores of Lake Chuzenji, some rooms offer breathtaking views of the lake and the majestic Mount Nantai. The Japanese-style rooms are spacious, featuring tatami flooring, scenic areas, and comfortable beds, perfect for enjoying the beautiful autumn leaves! A special thanks to the two staff members, Lisz and Yuka, for their excellent service and fluent English in introducing each dish. They were truly professional!
GGuest UserThe exterior of the hotel is pretty, but the interior of the hotel is dated and needs a bit of updating. There were parts of the hotel that were completely shut down (maybe there are saving up enough money to one day renovate). However the facilities and rooms are well maintained and the onsens are beautiful and peaceful. There are 2 main onsens, that are separated by men and women. Each day the onsens are switched, in the morning you will go to one, and in the evening before dinner you can experience the other onsen. Onsite there is a really nice restaurant and gift shop that featured local products at reasonable prices. There is a 24 hour coffee/tea station that is free to use. It's a short 10 minute walk from Kinugawa Onsen Station. When you arrive they provide you a yukata to wear while you are staying at the hotel. The rooms are spacious with options for a western bed or japanese style (sleeping on the floor). We opted for the western bed to be higher off the ground as we thought it would be colder to sleep on the ground. Although the rooms are very well heated and was a bit too warm, that we needed to open the window to cool the room down. The rooms have nice views of the countryside. They provide a pitcher of ice water in the room and you can go to the front desk to refill with ice if more is needed. The bathroom is quite large and has both a shower and toilet in a separate room of the bathroom; although we mostly bathed in the onsen. There is a 7-eleven nearby that was open 24 hours, but otherwise there isn't much else around the hotel. Also the town of Kinugawa Onsen closes quite early, around 8pm it's quite deserted. We were there at the end of November 2024, and it seemed that the hotel was mostly unoccupied, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was a very nice one night stay.
GGuest UserThe front desk staff were very polite and you could tell they were doing their best despite being understaffed. The inner courtyard with the koi pond was lovely. The room and lobby were clean and had a nice Japanese modern feel. Since it was winter, there was even a kotatsu (heated table).
XXIAA little distance from Tobu Nikko Station, you can take the bus to get off at Tatsuo Station, about eight or nine minutes, and walk more than 200 meters later. The service is ordinary, belonging to the traditional Japanese hot spring hotel, the staff is not English and Chinese, but most Japanese hotels are like this. Book a two-course meal, dinner, dinner, private dining room, breakfast is the hall to order. When leaving the hotel, the hotel does not provide luggage storage, others are OK.
GGuest UserI don’t understand why someone would leave a negative review due to their own negligence. Trip.com clearly mentioned the additional 300-yen tax (I assume this is the onsen tax) per person, yet they still claimed they were “scammed.”
My overall experience at Hotel Euro City was wonderful. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and the shuttle bus service was amazing. If you want to get to the hotel easily, check the shuttle schedule on the hotel’s homepage so you don’t have to walk from the station. They run it every day at 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 15:15, 16:15, 17:15, and 18:15 from “Nikko Station Hotel Classic,” right next to JR Nikko Station.
The room was spacious and comfortable, and the onsen in the backyard was great. It’s true that the room had a mild smell, but I assume it was due to recent pest control (it smelled like pesticide). Just open the windows for a while and it goes away.
Breakfast was okay—not as fancy as in the advertisements, maybe because it wasn’t peak season. Overall, I think this is a very good choice, especially if you’re traveling with family.
Hotel location except for driving passengers, it is not convenient to take the bus. The type of room booked is only a smoking room, and the room has a strong smell of smoke and is uncomfortable. The food supply is very good and there are surprises. The hot spring baths are good. This hotel really wants to improve the quality of hygiene, the carpets are dark, and the room should be changed to not smoke. But the price is very high, especially the discount of Trip.com
GGuest UserMy first time visit to Japan and I was after an authentic Japanese accommodation. I booked a Japanese Style room with futon beds which were very comfortable. The room was beautiful and very clean. My booking also included breakfast and dinner which were always outstanding, beautifully prepared and unique food items. They utilized farm to table dining and the women explained each item served. They provided and encouraged one to wear Kimonos’s /tabi socks / slippers during one’s stay at, “ Nikko Iwaiyado Juyan “. Which further contributed to the authentic Japanese vibe. Indoor and outdoor hot tubs were amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The hotel is nestled within mountains and the setting serene. Hotel is family owned and they take pride in caring for their guests.
