Nikko Hotels with Balcony

Excellent staff, location and facilities. We enjoyed the food and the private hot tub on our balcony. All of the staff were very friendly, and went above and beyond with any request. Just avoid getting a massage. The masseuse was horrible. She had my wife keep her robe on and then covered her with towels before roughly rubbing her. She ended up with rug burns on her feet and a kinked neck. If you can avoid that disaster you will have a wonderful time here.

Unexpectedly delightful! The hotel room was beautiful, and every staff member we encountered, from check-in to check-out, was wonderful. The hotel offers many activities; we joined the stargazing and Lake Chuzenji walk, and the stargazing activity gave us an incredible view of the night sky!

Traveling with three generations of family, we made wonderful memories. The location is great as we could walk to drugstores, supermarkets, and convenience stores, which was super convenient.

Upon arriving, you can tell the hotel had its glorious days, and it's clearly put in a lot of effort to survive and remain standing in Kinugawa! The room was spacious and clean, and the staff even helped set up the futons while we were at dinner. The room rate included two buffet meals, both of which offered a good variety and quality of food. However, 90 minutes for dinner felt very rushed. I initially chose this hotel because the photos of the open-air onsen looked very appealing. But I was quite disappointed with the onsen facilities here. The hotel has three hot springs: the main bath on the 1st floor of the main building, the open-air onsen on the 13th floor, and the bathhouse in the annex. It turned out the open-air onsen was tiny, and the changing area was also very small. The strangest thing was that there were only four shower stalls, and they only had body wash – no shampoo or conditioner (which is really odd). Yet, the main bath on the 1st floor had over 20 different types of shampoo to choose from (bizarre!). I ended up having to wash my hair back in the room, but in the summer heat of June, it took an incredibly long time for the hot water to come on. I visit many onsen hotels in Japan every year. While this hotel's rooms and dining were decent, its onsen was the most disappointing I've encountered. And the room rate wasn't cheap either, so I won't be considering staying here again!

My first time visit to Japan and I was after an authentic Japanese accommodation. I booked a Japanese Style room with futon beds which were very comfortable. The room was beautiful and very clean. My booking also included breakfast and dinner which were always outstanding, beautifully prepared and unique food items. They utilized farm to table dining and the women explained each item served. They provided and encouraged one to wear Kimonos’s /tabi socks / slippers during one’s stay at, “ Nikko Iwaiyado Juyan “. Which further contributed to the authentic Japanese vibe. Indoor and outdoor hot tubs were amazing. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. The hotel is nestled within mountains and the setting serene. Hotel is family owned and they take pride in caring for their guests.

This hotel boasts an excellent location, with stunning views of Lake Chuzenji right from the balcony. The room features both indoor and outdoor onsen baths, making it incredibly pleasant to soak while enjoying the lake view, especially on a clear day. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The room itself is spacious, well-equipped, clean, and tidy. The hotel also provides a convenient shuttle bus service to nearby transport hubs, which is a thoughtful touch.

No problem with the check-in and check-out, it was easy. I was expecting the entire unit is one the ground floor, it turn out that only one tatami room and the garage is on the ground floor, the rest are on 2nd floor. It is no problem since it was only 3 of us, we leave our big luggage on ground floor, bring up only the necessary things during our stay. It is an unmanned facility, I am impressed with the backup supports they have. We got locked out of the unit because we used the garage roller shutter to get out and forgot to unlock the main door from inside. We noticed it only when we returned to the unit in the evening. We managed to get help through iPad in the check-in container house, the security staff came within an hour to open the roller shutter and problem solved. It is spacious and we have a wonderful stay.

If you arrive late at night, you might accidentally drive right past it, but it's spacious enough for families. The abundance of amenities that make you feel at home is very much appreciated. Regarding amenities, a bathroom on the first floor would be desirable. Also, there's a projector in the living room, but it seems you need to register it with a TV viewing app beforehand, which is inconvenient. While you can watch free YouTube videos, it would be much better if there was a regular TV. Regarding amenities, it would have been even better if there were razors.

Upon arrival, I tried to inquire about the shuttle bus, only to find out it needed to be booked a day in advance. I contacted Trip.com and the hotel for assistance, and both were very friendly and helpful. They told me to wait for the shuttle at the Nikko Hotel entrance, which is opposite JR Nikko Station. The driver who picked us up was also very kind and asked us where we were from. For every pick-up and drop-off, he would double-check if there were any other passengers, which was very diligent. My favorite part was the balcony in the room, which had a shower and a wooden bathtub. The scent of the wood was so lovely and therapeutic. I looked forward to breakfast every morning. As a vegan, there were fewer options, but everything was delicious. Although the journey was a bit far, the fresh air and cool, comfortable weather made it a perfect summer retreat. Plus, there's a free ice and beverage station on the second floor, which is a thoughtful touch. On the first floor, they also sell snacks and instant noodles, and I always wanted to buy a pack or two after coming back. There's even an antique car display on the first floor. Overall, it's very clean and welcoming. It’s a great place for families to relax and travel.
