Located close to a Central Park, and 5 minutes to the subway, convenient for solo travellers to get around. Prices are a little on a higher margin for a 10 bunk beds dormitory, but the roommates are okay. There should be a better air-conditioning though, as it can get hot in the room. The only downside can be when you have a snoring roommate close by, but its not something you can really complain while in shared the room. But there may be places in the same price range, with fewer roommates or a private single room for a few more cost.

Perfect spot to enjoy the city. Room was small but had everything you needed. Hot water and water pressure was great staff were helpful and courteous. Location was great within walking distance to the theaters and Times Square. We also walked to the port where we took a cruise around Manhattan Island.

Katherine at the front desk was phenomenal she helped out with everything that I needed it was seamlessly perfect there was no wait I got exactly what I wanted and she made sure that I was taking care of amazing customer service

We were able to leave for our trip sooner than we thought so I contacted the hotel to see if we could check in a day early, to which I was told I could but they couldn’t extend the reservation, and transferred me to Marriott. When we got to the hotel we were disappointed because the pictures led us to believe part of the courtyard was on the river, however that is not the case. Next, upon pulling in to the parking garage there was no parking attendant for valet parking, but there was empty spaces so we parked and I went in to check us in while the rest of my group began unloading the car. When I walked in a man started running out the door and I thought, “we’re in trouble for parking there”. So I made my way to the front desk and asked the guy there if we were ok to park there and he said, “yea, that’s our valet lot, but if there was a space we can use it, it’s just going to cost $15 each night versus $10 if we park ourselves on the third floor of the garage.” Ok. We’re a group of 3 women and felt a lot safer where we parked so that was fine. We made our way to the room, typical room. The hotel reeked of ********* though. The bathroom was dirty, tub moldy, hair in the tub and on the bathroom floor. Before arrival I had requested extra towels, washcloths, and pillows, all of which were not provided. The next couple of days were fine, we didn’t move our vehicle from its space, just Ubered everywhere. By day three I was extremely sick from the constant smell of pot and really just wanted to rest in my room, but the hotel provided no protection as the hallways were filled with the smell, even though it’s a non-smoking hotel. Our next incident comes Friday evening. Late that evening after spending all day in the city we realized we only had been provided one roll of toilet paper when we ran out of what we had. So I myself go downstairs and request 3 towels, 3 washcloths, and more toilet paper. There’s one man at the front desk and he gives me the towels and wash cloths but can’t give me any toilet paper. He tells me he’s by himself and can’t leave his desk so he makes a note of the room number so when his help comes back we can get more toilet paper. I explain that we have someone literally on the toilet and he tells me he can’t leave in the middle of arguing with another guest who has checked in and is having issues with their room. (He literally said to the guest in the phone, “you checked in 4 hours ago and you’re just saying something now? Oh you took a nap before you checked.” While rolling his eyes.). So, luckily we have baby wipes so that’s what we had to use. It’s probably 2 in the morning when we get a know on the door and it’s a different guy with one roll of toilet paper. The next morning we get up and I request via the app more toilet paper, more towels, more wash cloths, all of which never show up. So now we’re up to Sunday night, our last night. We actually move our vehicle that day and when we come back all the handicap parking spa

Lovely hotel, great location, pet friendly, with great staff! Hotel Belleclaire in a great part of NYC, very close to Central Park and very close to one of the main subway lines (red- 1 train) With plenty of restaurants nearby. The hotel has been recently renovated so the room we stayed in was modern and clean while the building itself holds a classic charm. The lobby is gorgeous and the included voucher for the coffee & pastry place next door is a nice touch. Naomi at the front desk took great care of us, very thankful. We’ll definitely keep Belleclaire on the very top of our list of NYC hotels in the future.

Ok place but old. In very busy area, near time square, subway is near by. Comfortable to get pharmacy , Pret-a- manger, nice view but Windows are a bit dirty from outside.

Had a brilliant experience here. For such an affordable stay the quality was excellent, the room was lovely, clean and cosy and the services offered were great - kitchen, lounge, computer/library area and laundry room. They also have activities like movie nights which is such a great bonus. The staff were extremely kind - especially Yari - who helped my friend and I when we missed our bus. We really felt taken care of. The location is also great and well connected with a subway station a few minutes away and it felt safe walking home at night. I couldn't believe we found this place and that it was as good as it seemed, especially for NYC! I would highly recommend staying here. Thank you so much to the staff who made our stay so enjoyable ❤

First off, the location. Very convenient and I always try to stay around Times Square so I can be close to the theatres. But there was LOUD music around the hotel that made it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep! Secondly, I called beforehand to request an early check in due to my flight getting in earlier. I specifically asked if there was a charge and was told no. When I arrived at the hotel, the attendant was incredibly rude. She said there was a 50.00 charge for early check in and I said ”oh, they didn't tell me that on the phone” to which they replied ”well I'm telling you now.” I then requested a fridge for my insulin and was told they don't have fridges. I finally made it to my room which was HOT. The AC was not working so they sent up Maintenance who called Front Desk to tell them to move me to another room. The room was clean and pleasant. It's New York, the rooms are not going to be that big! Guests and employees slammed doors and talked so loudly the entire time. I got no sleep on this trip. It was a convenient walk but that's about it. I wasn't impressed with my stay and likely won't return to The Gallivant, which is unfortunate because I have heard good things and was excited about my stay.

The reason for the poor review only has to be due to what I can only describe as a dangerous event. On our first evening at 0130hrs we were spoken to a strong smell of cannabis so much we were sick. The corridor outside our room was dense smoke like there was a fire! I went to reception who did not seem phased and move us to another floor! No attempt was made to locate the offender all be it there was no doubt it was coming from the room next to ours! The rest of the stay 6 days was uneventful until we checked out! We made sure there was not any transaction on our credit card which you are required to leave at booking in, we were told there was not however when return to the Uk we discovered £1078 had been taken from both parties credit cards! Reported to card company who directed us back to hotel as it was made there! Hotel does not reply to emails and when you ring will not discuss!!! Be very careful, we are now told by Virgin who we booked holiday with it will take in excess of 28 days to sort out, in the mean time we will still have to pay interest on card which will not be refunded
