New Hotels in Koh Samui

"Pros: - Very well-designed room (storage and furniture layout) - Washing machine (though I didn't find a dryer, as many mentioned) - Excellent cleaning service (we always left a small tip for the ladies) - Bar staff and breakfast service staff - Well-maintained grounds - Pool with always available towels (always crowded, but people rotate, so you can generally find a spot to sunbathe) - Kettle, air conditioner, basic set of dishes - Large box of bathroom amenities, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner - Macro Market right opposite (very cheap groceries) - Be aware of the 3000 baht deposit Cons: - No cooking allowed on the stove (this was not mentioned anywhere) - 5000 baht fine - No flushing toilet paper - 500 baht fine (You are warned about these fines upon check-in and given a memo) - Overpriced room - Breakfasts (you can fill up), but the selection is very modest and always the same. - The hotel is located by the main road, which is difficult to cross. - We had a super unpleasant situation that ruined our departure (we had pre-booked a transfer when we arrived, and we repeated our departure day and the transfer time suggested by the reception staff several times). We were checking out earlier than the paid-for day. - Garden view (essentially, you don't have a balcony, it's just a small square. We were on the 1st floor in a side room that people constantly walked past, and there was nowhere to dry clothes). I don't recommend taking a first-floor room. We stayed in building 2 (no noise). There's construction nearby, next to building 5, where the reception is. Also, there are water restrictions and outages starting on the island (check with the hotel about these issues). Conclusion: When we checked out, they simply forgot about us. There was no transfer, and we had to hastily order a BOLT taxi ourselves (super service here), and the taxi arrived very quickly. The hotel staff just shrugged their shoulders and were also unprepared for our departure. If you plan to book a transfer, remind the staff about it (but honestly, if they forget things so easily, there's a risk you might be without it even with a reminder)."

"The Hostel Samui was really great. The reception worker was extremely nice and I felt so welcome! I was a little sceptical at first because the hostel had very few reviews, but that’s because it’s still really new (opened up about 2/3 months ago). So don’t be scared to book it! You get a towel from the reception which was really nice and the rooms are really clean. For me personally the location was great, in the Main Street but like 4 min walk to get to the “life of the city”. Therefore you don’t hear any of the loud music from the bars/ clubs, which go on really late in the night. You could controll the aircon in the rooms yourself, which is alsways helpful. There were two bathrooms (both one toilet and one shower) for 10 people which was more than enough. Also outside on the balcony there was a really nice chill area with a fan, where you could either meet other people or just chill by yourself (but would really recommend using mosquito repellent, there a sooo many of them since there are threes around the balcony). Not the most social hostel, but if you’re not that much into partying (or just like your sleep :D) I can highly recommend booking this hostel!"

"I had a wonderful stay at Yo Yo Samui. The room was clean, modern, and very comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the whole property was quiet and well maintained. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The location was convenient for exploring Koh Samui while still feeling peaceful. It was great value for money, especially if you’re travelling solo. I really enjoyed my time here and would happily stay again. Thank you for making my visit so comfortable!"

"An excellent place to rest after a long flight before heading to next destination , it’s central yet far from the noise , two steps from the beach restaurants and coffee shops . The staff are like family can’t even describe how great these people are . Even the gentleman who owns the place was there to pay for my delivery because I didn’t have cash tell we settle later . A gesture like this creates the feeling of being home ! And that little cute monkey you’ll have to be smart to let it feel safe with you then you’ll creat the best of friends ! The rooms are massive modern clean with super fast internet . For the price you pay you get ten times more the worth Will always come back ."

"Great hotel with a very good location. 7/11 near by which was very useful. Very close to the fishermen village and there is a shortcut through holiday inn which is across the street. The shower and hot water could be better. Also the toilet is outside which makes it uncomfortable in the hot Thailand’s weather."

"lovely big rooms and comfy bed, no balcony. bike needed to get around as in quiet side of island, swimming pool was out of action unfortunatley and no direct access to beach, hotel is more catered to childrens sport camps than a traditional holiday, great for familys"

"A good hotel for your money. The location is excellent, next to a delicious restaurant with a very delicious duck soup. Staff responsive. There were a couple of nuances, but decided very quickly. From the downsides: The toilet in the room needs to be changed."

"I had a really good stay at Tree Monkey Hostel. The room felt comfortable and had everything I needed. The bed was very comfortable, and the shower facilities were clean and easy to use. I also liked that you can choose between hot and cold water anytime - simple but very practical. It’s a pretty basic setup, but in a good way - it covers all the essentials without feeling like anything is missing. For me, it was more than enough. One of the highlights was the staff. The woman handling check-in was very friendly and welcoming. Even though her English isn’t perfect, communication was still easy. She’s very accommodating and always tries to help or find a solution, which I really appreciated. The location is also great, with restaurants nearby and the beach within easy reach, so it’s very convenient overall. One thing to mention is that there were some drain flies in the room. That said, they didn’t bother me much - especially at night when sleeping, I barely noticed them. It might be something to keep in mind, but for me personally it wasn’t a big issue. Overall, a comfortable and convenient place to stay with very friendly and helpful service."

"The room is very stylish and cute, with a lovely seaside atmosphere. It was clean and smelled nice. There were no bathrobes, but slippers were provided. The room also had a refrigerator, microwave, and hairdryer. The shower temperature was difficult to adjust—it was either cold or extremely hot. One thing I really appreciated was the powerful ventilation fan in the bathroom. Hotels without proper bathroom ventilation can get very humid, so this was a big plus. Unfortunately, there was construction work going on next door, and workers were constantly walking around, so I had no choice but to keep the curtains closed. There was also an unpleasant smell coming from outside. If you are sensitive to insects, please be aware that I encountered a few bugs during my stay. There is also a restaurant on the property where you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious food. The view is beautiful as well, and despite the construction, I would definitely like to come back again."

"Excellent small hotel in the heart of Lamai. Everything is close by: the beach is a 5-minute walk, a convenience store is right across the street, and bike rentals are just around the corner. The rooms are cozy and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The manager is always reachable and ready to assist. Highly recommend it :)"
