Spent two nights at this fabulous hotel for my birthday. Ate in the pub and the brassiere both served amazing food. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious with plenty of drawer and hanging space. Loved that we could use the Spa and gym facilities. Highly recommended

I have been a member of the health club for several years and the facilities are needing some attention, to say the least. The staff - not enough of them - are doing their best, trying to man the desk as well as cleaning etc. But they can’t do most of the things that need doing. There is need for new plaster in the ladies changing room on the ceiling where it seems to leak in heavy rain - a problem that persists. The lockers are awful - most just don’t lock. The water dispenser by the pool keeps breaking down and hasn’t worked for weeks (again). The hot tub has just had the loose tiles replaced and they have already come unstuck. It needs sorting properly. The pool needs demoulding. around the edge - draining and deep cleaning. It can’t just be wiped. The shower drains regularly block, or they don’t work. I heard one of the senior staff (manger?) asking the girl on the desk what she does with her time.. ?! They need a proper cleaner like the new spa. It is not the high standard it was. Not enough money spent, not enough staff. It is a shame because it used to be much better. Standards have dropped. It isn’t what you would expect from a quality hotel, which is what it used to be.

My husband and I stayed for one night last week and had the most relaxing time. Check in was supposedly 3pm, however we did a partial check in online the night before which asked for an estimated time of arrival. We said 1pm as we wanted to enjoy a drink and use the facilities. We arrived around the time we'd planned and our room was ready, so we completed check in which was really quick and easy. Reception area has a very informal, relaxed feel about it, it didn't look to corporate and fit the theme of the hotel. The staff were lovely too. Our room was great, very spacious with a huge bed, a sitting area by the window which overlooked the spa gardens and hillside. Nipping clean, no complaints regarding that. We had a drink from the bar which we were able to take outside and enjoy by the stream. Due to the location, there wasn't a great deal of passing traffic and the only cars that would pass the seating along the water would be those going to/from the hotel & spa. We changed and spent some time around the indoor pool but then decided to pay the extra and use the thermal spa and Gardens. We're so pleased we did as this made our day and overall stay feel that little bit more special and definitely more relaxing. The member of staff (Genie) who greeted us at the spa was the nicest person, she was so friendly and accommodated us straight away. She gave us a quick tour, showing us what was what. She told us she'd be wandering around and should we need anything, just to give her a wave. We were very much left to enjoy ourselves and when we did fancy a drink, Genie was more than happy to wait on us. We spent a good few hours there. Later on in the evening we ate in the brasserie on site. This is more like finer dining rather than pub grub, which was also available in a different dining area. The food was absolutely incredible and again the waiting staff were great too. Nothing was a bother and the gent who served us was friendly and had a great sense of humour. Our bed was comfortable and the room was so dark and quiet. Our only critism would be that the room was too warm. It was a warm and close day, which obviously can't be helped, however there was an air conditioning unit on the wall with a sign saying it was out of use. Breakfast the following morning was beautiful. A continental help yourself selection with cereals, toast, pastries, fruit and yogurt but also a menu to choose from with items cooked to order, such as porridge, pancakes, poached eggs on toast, all the way to full cooked breakfasts. Check out was quick and effortless. All in all a fabulous one night stay. We'd definitely return and have recommended to friends and family already. Special mention again to Genie at the spa, she is a credit to the team there, what a lovely woman.

Wonderful weekend spent in the gorgeous Lake District. The Love Nest was stunningly beautiful with everything we could possibly need to hand. Our evening meal was delicious with every course being cooked to perfection. Our spa day on the Sunday was luxurious, and made us both feel so relaxed. An amazing stay, thank you so much.

The hotel was nice shame not enough shower gel for us both to use The spa was nice but shame tiles missing already in the shower area stain on bed balance Staff nice but not over friendly my steak was fatty but the staff did remove my wine of the bill for this Hotel nice and modern but the big stain on the carpet and skirt board in the corridor let’s it die.

We paid with a £125 voucher but the manager deducted £15 for car parking which was unfair being that Spa people get there's free. Not only that the big thick set manager with a beard was very un sympathetic towards us and was borderline rude. The receptionist was really nice she understood our predicament. The food was good but the place is very tired looking. We won’t be going back while this manager is there

Popped in for a spot of lunch. Lovely ambience about the place Staff smartly dressed and very friendly. Nice decor. Only had a little to eat but was very nice. Hotel looked good so we decided to book a stay next time. Ordered a coffee which was a little late coming so we never got charged .

Lovely hotel in great location with all amenities for excellent break. Staff friendly and helpful, special mention to Archie in the bar who looked after us so well. Credit to the team! We stayed in the ‘nest’ and will definitely be booking to go back. Great location to visit different places in the lakes. Fantastic walks and wild swimming
