Stayed 3 nights in small double room with attached bathroom Clean, comfortable and quiet if somewhat lacking in a friendly atmosphere. Close to the railway station and tourist information Centre. Note hotel is closed during the day and open at 3pm for check-in. You can leave bags in locker for 100 yen. Nice small onsen bath to relax after a day of sightseeing. Note the breakfast caters mainly to Japanese guests with no fresh food. I found it awful and resorted to the convenience store across the street.

My wife and I booked the Nikko Station Hotel II for April 13 - 15 as a non refundable reservation. This week, the US State Dept issued a Level 4 warning for all US citizens to avoid international travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In spite of their normal policy, the Nikko Station Hotel II made an exception due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issued a full refund. We will reschedule our trip to Japan after the pandemic passes and WILL DEFINITELY rebook at the Nikko Station Hotel II, as they have shown excellent customer service in a difficult time!

For reference we stayed in the Standard Dormitory. There are 2 rooms, 8 beds in each that share 2 toilets, a single sink, a single shower and a small kitchen. The bathrooms, kitchen, and shower were always clean. However, the kitchen only has a microwave and some plates, bowels and a few cups. There is no stove top to cook anything and there is no oven to use. You’re limited to microwave meals or eating out. If you’re on a budget and only plan on staying a single night then this is a great place. Any more nights and I would recommend finding another place. The staff a friendly and speak great English.

Arrived at Hotel and parked the rental car in the car park for free. Staff were very efficient and check in was very quick. Japan is still very Covid conscious and masks are worn everywhere. We were advised that there were were facilities for making Tea/ coffee in the room and that we should take any provisions required (for free) from the table arranged in the lobby i.e. tea / coffee / toothbrushes..etc. Room was lovely and spacious with a comfortable bed and lovely en-suite- lovely deep bath (shower fixings would be low for taller individuals). They had an evening bar and Onsen (natural hot water spring separate for males and females). They had a restaurant that provided an extensive buffet menu for breakfast - very tasty, and they had a select menu for the evenings and what we tried was very tasty also. The staff in the Hotel and restaurant were most friendly and encouraged me when I attempted some Japanese words. A very lovely start to our holiday in Japan - Thank you for your hospitality, we would happily stay here again

I adore the Ritz Carlton brand - whether in Paris, SG, Dubai or HK - you are guaranteed an experience that is captivating. Unfortunately this is not the case in Nikko. I am not a hotel guest. But since I am in lake Chuzenji & have heard so much raves about the hotel, I thought I would drop by the admire the beauty & splendour of the Ritz in lovely Nikko. I didn’t have a restaurant reservation, but being low season in Nikko, I wouldn’t think it will be a problem to get a table for 2 for lunch? Unfortunately, I was wrong. So wrong. I was told the hotel is booked out the whole day for dining in Lakehouse? I enquired - how about any other restaurants? No, Mam. Non available. I can wait - it’s already 1.30pm, surely a table will open up pretty quickly in very quiet Nikko at the moment? The lady replied - that’s the thing - we are booked out the whole day, just for today. Well deeply, I cannot stop rolling my eyes. Fine, I don’t need to be captivated with the splendid of Ritz by Lake Chuzenji given the arrogance & lackadaisical service, just because I am not a hotel guest? Worse was this conversation did not take place in the warm hotel lobby. I was standing at the hotel entrance in cold winter afternoon. Thanks you Ritz, for the very very very cold reception. The pure ignorance & discrimination for non-hotel guest.I am truly enlightened.

The room is quite large, the beds are all large double beds, the tables, chairs and sofas are also very good, there are also projectors and TVs, the kitchen is also fully equipped, including a microwave, induction cooker, and cooking utensils, so you can cook by yourself. The whole room is a big open space The room has no partitions and is not suitable for those who need privacy. Those who live on the first floor may face the noise from residents walking on the second floor. The hotel is located next to the highway, next to a small village, about a quarter of an hour's walk from Tobu Nikko Station. Although the road is not long, it is not very smooth. There is a 7-11 and a larger supermarket within three minutes. There is no front desk, check-in requires self-service, and the room has a password lock. Remember that you cannot check in before three o'clock and you cannot store your luggage. Your luggage can be stored at the station. It cost 5,100 RMB to stay for three days. Corona, I really went out 々, so I booked a room with an open-air bath even if it was a little expensive. Open-air bath → Everyone said that this hot spring was good, so I naturally thought it was a hot spring in the open-air bath in the room, but it was ordinary tap water. Sorry ... Of course, the bathtub was full of insects because it was a place without screen doors. It is listed under the name Bed →, but there is only a rice cracker futon drawn where the corner of the room is a little higher. It was too hard to sleep well because my body hurt. Bedding? sheets? I'm sorry for the dry smell of the laundry. I think it can't be helped because of the corona, but even if I stayed for consecutive nights, I had to change the towels, so I didn't remake the bed. The room was very cold. Cooking → I was expecting seasonal and local food, but only crabs and shrimp. I imagine that the crab was frozen, so I gave up without eating half without relaxing. Since there is no confirmation of allergies, I think it is better to confirm the dishes for crustacean allergies ... The fuel for cooking on the food table was small, and shabu-shabu and pork came out, but the fire went out on the way and I gave up. Isn't it good that it's a size that can be cooked for about 5 minutes? Breakfast is Japanese style. I think it's difficult to have a buffet because it's a corona disaster, but I think it would be nice if you could choose Japanese or Western breakfast at least. And I thought that the male staff at the front desk was not like the front desk. Can't find our name from the reservation list and are you really booking at home? I was asked. The woman was polite. That said, I think it is unavoidable that the service is limited because it is a corona disaster, but I thought that the price and the service content did not match.

Anyway, the transportation is convenient and you can walk anywhere. The nearest station is shimoima City, but I dared to get off at kamiima City. Check in around Ninomiya Sontoku Museum, kakii no Matsuzuki, Nikko Honjin, Ninomiya Sontoku Jinja shrine. I looked good from the room at the Nikko Kaido road and the jiheishi Kaido road, and went to the chobu Jizo Do hall at the intersection point. The cedar trees are too splendid, so I took a little walk on both roads. The hotel faces the intersection and there is a Family Mart on the other side. Breakfast is very healthy Japanese food and there are many side dishes and you can't eat. The number of shrubs was also surprised by other guests.

This is my third trip/adventure to Japan. I would say as a solo traveler this has to be one of the very best places I have ever stayed in when travelling around Japan. I came to Nikko np to explore the vast array of hiking trails, all of which I did, had breathtaking views and a poetic, truly majestic Japanese feel to them. I rented a car from Nasushiobara (Shinkansen) and drove across to Kinugawa. On arrival I was greeted by a host of the hotel staff, welcoming me and helping me with parking and my bags. I checked in with ease and with some broken English and Japanese on my part was led to a beautiful traditional Japanese style room overlooking the river. The service throughout was world class and made me feel both very comfortable, at home, but also special. I stayed 3 nights with half board (breakfast and dinner), both truly amazing and served with grace and politeness. On the first evening’s dinner one of the serving staff took the time to speak with me and allowed me to share some of my recent experiences/photos etc whilst preparing dinner - this was most welcome, especially as I had been travelling alone for over a week. The location of the onsen hotel is about 60 mins drive to some of the most sought after walks in the np. Very easy to access by car and excellent roads. The accommodation itself is a mix between very traditional Japanese resort and original/boutique Ryokan. The private and public onsen’s are fantastic and a well deserved rest-bite after a long days hiking! Having been to some of the most popular ryokan’s in Japan; Iwaso, Claska etc, this came as a very nice surprise and at an affordable rate without any compromise. If in the area, I would highly recommend staying…

Visited on a family trip. The room was a small room, but Obekka was used at the front desk saying ”I upgraded this time”. There are many old folk houses that foreigners like + legendary Tengu, Tanuki, and Fujin Raijin from deep in the mountains of Japan. There is no toilet or bath in the room. What you have to be careful about is that the restroom only has water, and the drain from the faucet is narrow, so washing your hands is probably the limit. It has a system of shared toilets and shared baths, and the shared bath on the first floor is about the size of a public bath and has only one large bathtub. There is an outdoor area, but it is about 5 people wide. You can wash your body in the communal bath, but you can't in the private bath. I thought it was for foreign tourists from such a place. The food is a buffet and there is almost no food for children under infants, so if you are using a family, you will need to bring your own food for children who can not eat for adults, or buy meals at a convenience store in Kinugawa. be. Adult meals are delicious, but for some reason the staff rushes to eat. In the morning, when the last order time passes, the food is mercilessly lowered, so it is necessary to go early. Also, when it's time for dinner, it's annoying because they come right away to pick up the plates. If you pay 3,300 yen per group, you can use the private bath for 24 hours. There are 6 places, so I usually put it somewhere. And for repeaters, the private bath will be free next time. Based on the above, it is not suitable for families with small children at all. It would be better if they were at least junior high school students. Also, I think it would be satisfactory for couples who want to relax alone, foreign tourists, couples, and elderly female travelers. Personally, I think it would be nice if there was a toilet and bath in the room, but I think it would be difficult to get there because it takes about 60 minutes by car from Kinugawa Onsen Station to climb a mountain. There is nothing around, but on the contrary it is vacant, so I think it is good to take a walk in nature.
