MonsterOnVacaySpending a night at Changdi Inn, nestled in the heart of the historic Hongkeng Tulou Cluster, was truly one of the most unforgettable experiences of my Xiamen trip. The inn is located within a centuries old Hakka earthen building, and the moment you step inside, you will be instantly transported back in time.
The stay offers an immersive look into traditional Hakka culture and architecture, surrounded by thick earthen walls, wooden beams, and antique details that speak volumes of the past. What mak it extra special was meeting the friendly innkeeper, a 6th generation descendant of the family that built and preserved this Tulou. He shared stories and local insights making the whole experience even more meaningful.
The room was simple yet clean and comfortable, blending rustic charm with basic modern comforts. I got to enjoy authentic Hakka meals, lovingly prepared and bursting with homestyle flavor, perfect after a day of exploring.
Waking up in the peaceful village setting, watching the locals go about their daily lives, and hearing the birds chirping outside, it's a rare, soulful escape from the city.

KaneccchenjiejieThe room was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. The only downside was the pillows were too soft – one was flat, two were piled high – but thankfully I only stayed one night. It was fascinating to fully experience the century-old charm of the Tulou, with its uneven stairs and creaking corridors. Because the Tulou elements have been maximized here, even though it was the off-season and not many people were around, you could still hear footsteps at night. Light sleepers might want to consider this.
Breakfast felt very ceremonial, and it was great for photos whether you were on the ground floor or in the corridor.
Tips:
1. As this is accommodation within a scenic area, you need to buy an entrance ticket. Private cars can only park in the villager's parking lot in front of the guesthouse after 4 PM.
2. The commercial atmosphere in the scenic area isn't too strong yet; the villagers' lives are quite authentic, and the environment is very natural. Be sure to use mosquito repellent and wear long sleeves, especially at night. There are always small, unknown flying insects that will stick to you.
3. You might see termites inside the guesthouse, even though they've treated it. After all, with earthen walls, there are always gaps around the beds where they can get in. If this bothers you, bring disposable bedding.

The location is convenient, and the hotel has a great design aesthetic. They offer a free shuttle service to the train station, and the driver was really nice. The popular beef offal noodle shop next door is delicious and affordable. Just a small heads-up: the water pressure in the shower is really strong; I'd suggest either changing the showerhead or adjusting the pressure.

Stayed for a night at the hotel and took the free guided tour to the 王子 Tulou. Had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Food is slightly above average.
Location is right next to a Tulou. but it is not the Tulou with the tour.
Attended the dinner shoe next door using the discount coupon. It is probably one of the lamest show I have seen in China. Very loud and piercing compère. Don’t waste your money on the show.
The free guided tour is only for 王子土楼. The free guided tour is good. You may need your own transport there. You still need to pay for your tickets into the 土楼。 the guide’s relatives live there. Basically she will bring you to her house or cousin’s house for tea. And the tea is expensive. You get the drift.

Guest UserThis is a super warm homestay. It is newly opened, with new equipment, clean and hygienic environment, and spacious rooms. It is completely different from the concerns and pictures when booking. We checked in on New Year's Eve. The proprietress was very welcoming and cooked a New Year's Eve dinner for us. She charged a symbolic fee, which was very warm. This B&B is owned by Zhencheng. The proprietress also took us into the building for free to watch the show on New Year's Eve. She is especially good at taking photos. At the beginning of the year, she came to cook glutinous rice breakfast for us and I gave the boss lady a big hug right away!

The owner was incredibly thoughtful; seeing that we had elderly guests, she kindly upgraded us to a ground-floor room free of charge, which we greatly appreciated.
Facilities: Good.
Cleanliness: Spotlessly clean.
Ambiance: It got a bit dark outside at night; some outdoor lighting would be a great improvement.
Service: Excellent.

What an amazing experience! It was so cool to actually stay inside a Tulou. I was lucky that my room even had an en-suite bathroom! The owner was incredibly kind; they waited up for me despite my very late check-in. Since I specifically traveled all the way from Taiwan, the owner thoughtfully lit up the beautiful red lanterns for me, which looked absolutely stunning in photos! They also helped me take pictures and booked my bus ticket down the mountain. They truly go above and beyond to care for their guests! A huge thank you to the owner! I had such a wonderful time. If I get the chance, I'll definitely bring my family and friends to visit again!

A strategically located hotel which is within walking distance of distance to many interesting places. Food is easily accessible and yummy. Night scenery is great with multi coloured lighting. Nice to walk around and enjoyed watching people dancing in the open spaces. Local herbs are also available if u are interested in local Chinese herbs for brewing tea and herbal soups.
During the day it is nice to walk around early in the nearby walking streets where u can find interesting architecture of the olden days. Well kept but can do with more explanation about the history and info about the local culture and customs. Great place for taking instagram photos.

Guest UserThe front desk is friendly and the room is large. The hotel is right behind the Ramada. There is a refrigerator, shoe cabinet, and rocking chair in the room. The overall value for money is good. However, the kettle is a bit dirty and the bed is too soft. I have a bad waist and cannot sleep on a soft bed, so I still give it 5 stars.

Guest UserThe host arranged for us to make torches and join in the local Lantern Festival celebrations, which included the 'Tian Xinding' custom – it was a really fun experience! The hotel was very clean and quiet. The host was also remarkably confident in their service and went out of their way to help, even assisting me with receiving a package. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay.
