Review: A Beautiful, Design-Led Oasis in Fisherman’s Village We recently stayed at the Hansar Samui, and it is truly a beautiful property with a thoughtful design. The location is perfect—just a short, pleasant stroll away from Fisherman’s Village, making it easy to explore the local area while still feeling like you have a quiet retreat to return to. The Highlights Dining Experience: The breakfast was a standout. I particularly appreciated having eggs made fresh to order; there is nothing worse than pre-cooked, rubbery eggs left under heat lamps, so this was a huge bonus for me. The Vibe: The swimming pool is lovely, and the beach is kept very clean. The hotel maintains a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by a great selection of background music. Service & Little Touches: The staff were incredibly welcoming and kind. I loved the ”turn-down” service around 5:00 PM, where housekeeping brought little chocolates and water—an adorable touch that made us feel looked after. Facilities: The gym is clean and well-maintained. Crucially for those working remotely, the Wi-Fi was excellent and reliable enough for me to take Zoom meetings without any issues. Room Design: The rooms are beautifully decorated with stunning balconies and views. The bathroom was a highlight, especially the large rainfall shower. Room Comfort & Maintenance We did have a significant issue with the bed. The mattresses are very soft, which didn't suit us at all as my husband has a bad back. It made sleeping quite difficult. However, the staff were wonderful and tried their best to accommodate us; they helped remove the mattress so we could sleep on the wooden base with just the mattress topper. While not ”luxury” comfort, it was much better for his back than the soft mattress. We also had a few issues with a temperamental toilet flush, but to the hotel's credit, maintenance was very prompt in coming to fix it each time. Dining & Logistics We had dinner at the restaurant one evening, ordering the Massaman curry and Chicken Panang. While the food was edible, it was just ”okay”—we were perhaps expecting a bit more given how high the quality of breakfast was. That said, the view from the restaurant in the evening is spectacular, and they occasionally have lovely entertainment. One small hiccup occurred when we booked a taxi through the hotel to take us to the pier for our trip to Koh Phangan. The driver unfortunately dropped us at the wrong port. We had to quickly catch a Grab to the correct one, but luckily we made it just in time for our ferry. Overall Despite a few minor glitches, this was a wonderful stay. The aesthetic of the hotel is gorgeous, and the professionalism of the staff ensures that any issues are handled quickly. I would definitely recommend Hansar for anyone looking for a stylish and relaxed stay in Samui!

Excellent boutique hotel. Beautiful well kept gardens that would look even better outside of a very dry spell. Lots of interesting wildlife around. Very nice landscaped infinity pool, very interesting design if a little on the small side, tbf I dont think its meant for keen swimmers. The included breakfast is excellent with several options to choose and many more if you choose to pay. It really is that good and will keep anyone going most of the daytime. Other dining is from a fairly limited menu but it's well done, tasty and well presented. I've had cheaper but I also had way worse. The restaurant gets very busy in the evening so if you're a hotel resident it's best to book. The place is very popular with the poseur crowd from tiktok and Instagram that come for the amazing location with the hilltop vista overlooking Chaweng and Chaweng Noi. They do tend to clear off shortly after sunset so evenings are more chilled but please don't turn up in camo's, chang vest and sliders. It's not that kind of spot. Mentioning the views, there is a price to pay for such a lofty vantage point the drive up isn't for the faint hearted , a regular car would struggle most times, I would say impossible for a two wheel drive in the wet, and likewise two up on a rental scooter. Taxis charge an extra 200baht for the attempt and walking would be a definite no unless one of your parents is a goat. There is a courtesy bus but I couldn't say if there's a charge or anything about the times or reliability, it does look clean and in good condition. All the staff were courteous, pleasant and helpful without being too much of the above and are a credit to the hotel. I have read some of the other reviews and I accept not everyone shares the same opinion but I really don't recognise the hotel from some of the more scathing comments but most seem to come from folk just coming as diners and wanting 10,000 photos or followers. A review should have a few negatives for balance. These are not major. There are several resident dogs on site. They are very friendly and in good condition. I don't mind dogs but not everyone does. I don't appreciate being woken up by cockerels at 5am, I go to the wife's village for that. Towels seem to be on a bit of a ration. They weren't very good. And finally, the drainage was at times a bit whiffy...or rather more than a bit so. Overall, would we go back? Absolutely. I intend to book again when a group of friends come over from England.

The hotel was excellent. The staff who picked us up from the airport, both for arrival and departure, provided fantastic service. On the first day, we booked a room with a bathroom by the pool and enjoyed complimentary drinks. On the second day, we moved to a beachfront room, which had an amazing atmosphere. This was our second time at Garrya Tongsai Bay, and we truly love it here. The staff throughout the entire hotel provide exceptional service, always warm, genuine, and making you feel valued. We were particularly touched when a server at the restaurant remembered us from last year—it really shows that the hotel has a very comprehensive and thoughtful guest service training system in place. The dining is also fantastic; both the seafood restaurant and the Thai restaurant are delicious. The hotel has its own private beach, and while the sand is a bit coarse, it's incredibly comfortable for relaxing. While the room facilities are a bit dated, the excellent service far outweighs any minor hardware issues, making for an overall superb vacation experience. We've already decided we'll be back again and genuinely recommend this hotel.

Overall, the hotel doesn't offer good value for money and feels more like a 3-star property. 1. The rooms are very small. They're fine for two people, but we saw a family of three trying to squeeze in, and it looked very cramped. Soundproofing is poor; you can hear doors moving in the next room and footsteps from upstairs. There are no bathrobes or slippers in the rooms. 2. When booking, consider the building's location – try to get one away from the restaurant. Otherwise, the restaurant's air conditioning kicks in at 5:30 AM and hums loudly all day. This noise forced us to change rooms, which took a full day. We also had issues with an irritable front desk agent who insisted we check out at 12:00 PM but said our new room wouldn't be ready until 3:00 PM. We disagreed, but he refused to help and yelled at us. This inappropriate behavior from the agent really soured our vacation. He refused to call a manager and even lied, claiming he *was* the manager. We had to find the general manager ourselves to resolve the issue. Thankfully, we were eventually helped and moved to a new room by 10:30 AM. 3. Breakfast was decent, with a good variety, and there was always enough food. 4. The pool is shallow (1.20m), really only suitable for children. It's also noisy on the grounds during the day. 5. The beach is clean and nice. 6. There are plenty of sun loungers. 7. They organize volleyball games at 5:00 PM. 8. In the evenings, neighboring hotels set up tables on the beach for dinner, but this hotel doesn't offer that. Perhaps if it weren't for the rude front desk agent at the start of our stay, our experience would have been much more positive!

The staff were incredibly, incredibly, incredibly friendly, especially at the front desk. The hotel has a beautiful, large pool and a small, private beach section right on site. The rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds. There's a super delicious breakfast buffet with a selection of fresh eggs made to order (my favorite: Eggs Benedict). A few more vegetarian options in the restaurant would be great though. Otherwise, it's a top hotel! :)

Booked a sea view room, located on a hillside, and the views were absolutely unbeatable. The room was also spotlessly clean, and the air conditioning worked great. The breakfast buffet offered different options every day, and we also got a free hour of kayaking. The restaurant had a different themed dinner set menu every night, and the food was delicious. Very satisfied overall.

First of all, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to the hotel! I honestly didn't expect to have such a great vacation in Asia! 🥹 Let's start with the staff! I have to commend their perfect work! They do everything so quietly, you barely notice their presence! But they are definitely working! Always with pleasant smiles, greetings, and ready to help! 🥹 Regarding the rooms: we stayed as a family of 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 11 years old). We ran into some difficulties here. The family room didn't accommodate 4 people (although the room description said it would), so I had to contact Trip.com support! And you won't believe it! They reimbursed me for the difference the hotel charged for the extra bed. (In total, the hotel charged 1000 baht per day for accommodation + meals for the 7-year-old child). The room itself was very spacious, stylish, and comfortable! A huge balcony with a table and chairs! 🥹 The hotel also provides waffle bathrobes! I want to especially highlight the location! It's perfect! There's a huge night market nearby with European food! (Moms will understand), and Thai cafes are also available! The sea in this area in June is ideal. I specifically went to Chaweng to swim, but I liked it more here! There were enough sun loungers for everyone, even during peak times! The sand was cleaned! The beach was cleared of trash and the sand was raked! ❤️ Just a few more words about breakfast! I know how important this is for parents! The children could always find something to eat! A huge selection of fruits. Eggs in any form, muesli! They even made mashed potatoes (not from powder)! The only thing, as others have mentioned, is the excessive amount of chlorine in the pool! The smell was even noticeable outside. Perhaps the hotel should pay attention to this! Overall, I *highly* recommend it! I will definitely return! Oh! And the cleanliness! I was shocked! Perfectly clean!

Receptionist insisted on taking a photo of my bookings from trip.com from my phone's apps, although she has sighted my bookings from their own system and also photocopy my passport already. This is really first time for me. Very wierd. Can hear planes noise as the airport is nearby. Also sighted 2 big cockcroaches in the room.

It is a very good place to relax, quiet, peaceful, really relaxing. The accommodation is beautiful, the sunlight, the lights, the air conditioning is cool, everything is good. If I go to Samui again, I will definitely come back to stay again.
