We deliberately chose this hotel because of its authentic traditional style, and it exceeded all of our expectations. Staying here felt less like booking a hotel and more like traveling back in time. Every detail—from the architecture to the furniture and beautiful courtyard—creates an incredible atmosphere that you simply can’t find in a modern hotel.
The location is perfect. It’s inside the Ancient City of Pingyao, but away from the busiest tourist streets, so it’s wonderfully quiet and peaceful. After the crowds disappear in the evening, it feels as if you’ve stepped hundreds of years into the past.
The room was spotless, comfortable, and full of character. We especially loved the traditional Chinese-style bed and the authentic design throughout the property. It made the whole experience feel even more special.
The owner was one of the friendliest hosts we’ve ever met. He personally met us at the entrance to the Ancient City, helped us with our luggage, welcomed us warmly, and took plenty of time to explain everything. He showed us the city on the map, recommended the best places to visit, and even gave us discount coupons for local attractions and restaurants. We truly felt like welcomed guests rather than just hotel customers.
We travel extensively throughout Asia, including many trips around China, and this was honestly one of the most memorable hotel experiences we’ve ever had. It wasn’t just a place to sleep—it became an unforgettable part of our journey.
