Dhensa Resort

Rooms: The rooms are spacious, clean, well-maintained, and equipped with thoughtful amenities, including comfortable bedding, large bathrooms, and balconies with breathtaking views.

Had a long drive through seemingly several mountains before reaching here. Wondered how this resort perched itself on the mountain. It is a beautiful place, room is big. There are seats at the balcony to be closer to ‘nature’. Only used the TV to watch youtube videos because i could not get international channels, Disney+, Netflix. The resort has a cultural performance at 6:30PM when staff will dance to a few song. Resort guests will be invited at the end.

We liked the tranquil setting and comfort of the Dhensa in Punakha. We prefer smaller hotels like this. We had a lovely room (303) that the staff told us had the best views in the hotel. We agree. We had a private deck looking down on the river. The king sized bed was very comfortable and there’s a couch, arm chair and desk chair by the desk. WiFi was good. The bathroom was large and had both a tub and separate shower. The hotel has a good restaurant which, due to its location well outside town, is a definite necessity. The hotel offers cocktails by the bonfire before dinner, and the staff perform traditional Bhutanese dances while you enjoy your drink. They’ll invite you to join them and will teach you a few steps. The dinner was a buffet with Bhutanese and continental selections. We stuck to the Bhutanese and ordered the cheese potatoes and chillies to add to the buffet. Very good. Overall the food was good but not superb. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs and pancakes to order. Our building was down the hill from reception so we only interacted with them at checkin and checkout. Very quick and thorough. All in all, we highly recommend it. Hotels of this caliber come at high cost in Bhutan but provide you a wonderful sanctuary in which to spend the night.
