Nice little place to stay overnight with good breakfast in the morning
Red Roof Inn Richmond, IN

The hotel is tucked away among a strip of restaurants and gas stations near the IN/OH border. We found some ants in our room and much of the room just felt moist. The internal hallways were a bit shabby. The lobby was difficult to find (I get the impression that the old lobby was in an abandoned building towards the front of the property). In a lot of cases, I can justify staying at a slightly worn hotel like this one if it's significantly cheaper than surrounding hotels or the only place to stay in 50 miles. I'm not sure either applies to the Red Roof in Richmond.

My wife and I stayed 1 night. We arrived around 6pm. There were a couple people in front of us checking in, but we were checked in quite fast. Our room was clean, and smelled good. With a king bed, our room was plenty big for us. With a microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom was clean. A very loud exhaust fan. The shower looked a little worn and tired, but it did work well. The tv worked pretty good. The bed was very comfortable. The rooms heater was kind of suspect. The breakfast was ok. Probably the weakest hotel breakfast we had on our trip. I can imagine that back in the day, this was quite an impressive place. We did have a nice visit. The price was very fair.

Hotel is okay. Not very new. Towels not clean - stained. Clock didn't work. Train located immediately to the south is so close you hear it every time it passes by which is a lot. It is on a busy highway too with lots of street noise. I think that might have been better if we stayed in the back.
