2-Star Hotels in Rio de Janeiro

We chose this hotel from Italy for its location ... Once we arrived we didn't think we were, rather ... The hotel is two steps from the cathedral (before we saw it from the room), a few steps from the Lapa district where there are many rooms to drink and eat, about 1km from Santa Teresa district where there is the famous Selairon scale, about 1km from the Uruguay market (advised to buy gifts at a more competitive price than other stores of souvenirs)... It really is walking from this hotel you reach everything ... Clearly Copacabana,Ipanema, Christ Redeemer do not make text because they are far from the center so you need to take a means ( we have been very good with Uber). Breakfast is worthy as the rooms are simple but clean. The staff is very kind. It is, if you don't ambit to the luxury hotel rather preferring a great location, this is the ideal hotel

The staff is so helpful and really care about their guests. They help you with everything. Especially ISABELLA was so nice to me, helped me scan some stuff. I presuaded it a lot! I think, it‘s a good place to base yourself in Rio. It‘s close to the beach and I never felt unsafe to walk around this area alone as a woman. There‘s enough space in kitchen area to meet new people. The rooms are a little narrow, but it‘s okay. Found everytime a free showe or bathroom and it‘s clean. The kitchen is not super equipped, but you have fridges and it‘s enough. Wow wow wow, I had the best time at Bamboo Rio - the staff are amazing especially Beatriz and Domenike who are the best, most friendly host who taught me a lot of Portuguese. Don’t think twice about staying here - I had the time of my life. It’s right next to the Copacabana and a short walk from Ipanema. Que Belezaaaa, love from Moises!

The hotel has a great cost-benefit for those who are on the journey and will stay a few days. I stayed only one night. When it comes to the centre of Rio de Janeiro, it is well located. Near the airport, that was what I wanted. When checking in and paying the stay the receptionist would charge a higher value than I had closed in the booking. I showed the app for her and then she charged the right value. But that was not what I liked less, in fact it did not disturb me: the room was very scent of sanitation water, we were afraid because I am asthma and the strong smell gives me a crisis. But we put things in the room, we set the air at least, we leave the window open to threaten the smell and we go out (and that worked), the part of the bathroom that remains the toilet is small. The room was very small and my boyfriend was very lounge, and we found nothing safe in the night, though the location was good in the center. We prefer not to walk around and ask for a lunch for the ifod: I had already been hosting in the Ibis Budget of Copacabana and the experience was great, it had no problem, so I didn't think twice about the time I chose it. But I would not go back to that.

Simple hotel with great location. The breakfast is simple and very satisfying.

The price is very high during the New Year, and it will be more affordable after the normal price is restored

One of the worst hostel rooms I've ever seen. Smelt of damp, walls and mattress were absolutely filthy. Sheets were paper thin and stained. The room I was provided with had 0 space whatsoever. As soon as I checked in and saw the state of the room I asked to be moved to a different room. I was happy to pay whatever price difference there was but was told no other room was available for the duration of my stay. I booked a private room that was available for a few days and requested a refund of the remaining balance. I was told someone would contact me to discuss this. I waited a week and received 0 calls or emails. I called and emailed multiple times, and after it was clear I wouldn't be receiving any response I resigned myself to this review. The staff are friendly enough but I wouldn't rebook this hostel again if it was the only option in rio. The bonus was the ants everywhere in the private room and the lack of courtesy to get back to me on my partial refund request.

I opted for a bed in the 10-bed female dorm at Carneval. Cost me $90 with an official airport taxi but for this uninitiated female solo traveller I just wanted to take the easiest route for arriving late on a Saturday night. Very much a young backpackers place, you will party and you will drink here if you don't go to the 'English' bar across the road which is where I did go and had a grand time chatting to the bar staff who were a bit older than my fellow bedmates (who were all lovely, by the way). It's as clean as it can be for a quick turnaround place, free drinks between 7-8pm and the staff were just lovely. Helpful and friendly. Short walk from the beach. I felt safe wandering at night here and the Metro is a block or so away. Only tiny grumble is that the photos on tripadvisor are not of the Ipanema site; it's a lot, lot smaller!

Un lugar horrible, las habitaciones son espantosas, no tienen buena ventilación , no hay ventiladores, si aire acondicionado que es encendido por la noche y apagado a las 8 de la mañana. el estado de las habitaciones es malisimo, los techos manchados de humedad, las paredes cercanas al aire acondicionado están descascaradas y con ampollas . los colchones son viejos , hundidos en el medio, las camas son cuchetas(arriba y abajo) como en todos los hostels. en cuanto a la limpieza de la habitación es mala, los pisos siempre estan sucios, entiendo también que eso tiene que ver con las personas que alli las habitan. el desayuno, recomiendo no comprarlo, te dan: un vaso chiquito de jugo de esos que se preparan ( los de polvo tipo Tang);ni siquiera una naranja exprimida, tres medios pan lactal, es decir, un pan lactal y medio, con un cuadradito de mermelada, uno de miel y otro de manteca. te dan cafe, pero si queres tomar café con leche tenes que pedir la leche porque no la tenes a tu disposicion. yo me quise ir en la mañana del otro día en que llegue, pero no pude hacerlo porque ya me habian cobrado con tarjeta y ellos no hacen reembolso, te dan un número de telefono para que llames que según ellos es ” la central” ( del horror), ahi te dan otro numero al cual llamar. en mi caso, me quite la pulsera que te ponen, según ellos es para identificarte... sin palabras... un dia volví por la noche y un hombre de ” seguridad” no me dejaba entrar porque no la tenia, le mostre la tarjeta de entrada a la habitación y corroboro mis datos y me permitio entrar. pasados unos dias mas, y siendo aproximadamente las 21 horas, él mismo hombre no me permite entrar a la habitación pporque según él yo no tenia la pulsera, intento entrar igual y me agarra fuerte del brazo , para lo cual yo me suelto y ahi empezo otra historia: comenzamos a discutir con un tal Gabriel que estaba a cargo de la recepción, quien intento que este violento quiera agredirme, en ese momento vuelvo a pedir que se me devuelva mi dinero porque lo que ellos ofrecen no es lo publicitado. a lo cual se niegan diciendo que ese punto esta escrito en las condiciones que uno acepta cuando llega a ese lugar. les dije que iría a la delegación policial a lo cual ellos respondieron que yo podía hacer lo que quisiera, pensaban que era solo una amenaza, para su sorpresa , cuando llegue con la policía todos lo que no me respondían cuando yo les hablaba, aparecieron con caras de yo no fui , no sabemos lo que paso, negando todo lo sucedido, para lo cual yo desmentía sus mentiras con los policías ahí presentes, para lo cual ” muy prestos” llamaron a una supuesta gerente quien ante la situación se comprometieron que devolverían mi dinero , sobre los días que no estuve en ese horrendo lugar. en mi argumento con la policía yo les explicaba que en el lugar había ratas y cucarachas, y que el lugar no es lo que muestran en las fotos, POR FAVOR NO VAYAN AHI, LES VAN A ARRUINAR LAS VACACIONES.
