She also prepared us a healthy breakfast for free. The place is near the train station within walking distance. If I go back to Nikko again I will definitely stay here."

"4.5 stars!  Property is older but extremely well maintained.  The corner western/Japanese rooms are spacious with two western beds and tatami area, single japanese bath and shower area and separate toilet area, mini fridge, tv, sitting area overlooking the river and table with four chairs as well as a massage chair!  Onsen area has both indoor and outdoor areas separate for men and women and a cold plunge as well as multiple hot baths.  Minus half a star for low staffing in the store/cafe areas (often no staff member to be found when kakigori desired), no in house lunch option and overly fatty meat on the 3rd night dinner (breakfast and dinner were LARGE and BEAUTIFUL but perhaps heavy on the yuba.  Also, shuttle to the train station is only at 10 and 11am and getting cabs is difficult.  However, would overwhelmingly recommend Nikko Senhime Monogatari!"

"The hosts were friendly and the young female assistant was helpful and polite. Location is great, near to the well-known fall and the lake is in front of the residence. Private onsen facilities are great though they are not available in the morning. Foods provided are in Western style and they are good, but not that great. Guests are reminded to tell the hosts on how to cook the steak, especially if well-done is not their preference. No elevator but many steps means you have to have strong muscle to move the heavy buggages from the car to the room."

"Walk distance from the Kinugaoka station. But the main bridge is the worst place, it was soooooo cold with huge wind!!! We visited in mid March but the wind was freeezing cold!! Japanese staffs were sort of…a little unique than the other hotels I visited.. they are not that much informative, but ask a lot of questions, they are happy to answer. Spacious room, lobby area is nice to chill out with Nama beer, hot spring was amazingly clean and calming. They offer to visit Plaza hotel hot spring which I don’t recommend, it was very dirtly(I could see the green moss in the main bath. Ceiling with covered with black fungus yikes.)"

"There are shuttle buses from Tobu Nikko Station and Jr Nikko Station every hour. It feels quite convenient. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from the station to the hotel. The hotel is in the mountains, the environment and air are very good. Staying for 1 night and 2 nights, we took the shuttle bus at 4 o'clock and arrived at the hotel at around 5 o'clock. It was the second batch's turn for dinner at around 7 o'clock. We couldn't change the time, so we waited until we were hungry. Dinner is still very rich, with a variety of good dishes, and the steak is recommended. There are also a variety of alcoholic beverages. Breakfast was also good. The hot spring is on the top floor, the water is very good, and there is an outdoor hot spring. You can soak in the hot spring and enjoy the night, moonlight or starry sky. The hotel room is also large and overall very good. Disadvantages: The pillows are not very comfortable and a bit hard. In addition, the sink and table are relatively low in design, making them not very convenient to use."

"I stayed in a twin room on the third floor, and there's an elevator. The room has a toilet (no shower), and the shower rooms are next door, with two on each floor. There's also a washing machine. On the first floor, there's a public bath, which is quite small and only fits two people. Breakfast is 700 yen per person and is filling. Right across from the inn entrance is a Family Mart, which is very convenient. There's no luggage storage, only lockers by the entrance for 100 yen per use. A 24-inch suitcase fits easily, and 25-26 inches should be fine too; for 28 inches, you might want to double-check. I managed to fit my 24-inch suitcase plus 2 liters of water. It's a 3-minute walk from Tobu Nikko Station, or 5 minutes if you walk slowly."

"Great value for money (what more could you ask for? LOL), unbeatable views, and a large public bath. Breakfast and dinner are mainly Western-style, perfect for introverts looking to relax. It's a bit of a walk from Chuzenji Onsen Station, about 10-15 minutes if you're pulling luggage. Chuzenji Post Office is a bit closer. Perhaps because it's winter, all the shops nearby were closed, so it's best to stock up on food before heading up the mountain."

"Very good hostel, better than in the pictures. We had a room for 4 people with private toilet, only the shower to share. The onsen is very clean and contains two pools inside and outside. Two washing machines and two dryers are available with additional payment. Kitchen is big and clean. The hotel is far from the main activity of Nikko (Nikkō Tōshō-gū and a hike with waterfalls). The train system even if you take Nikko pass in Tokyo is not perfect because it requires to take additional tickets for an express train, because it is not included in the pass."

"My stay at Hotel Hatago Nagomi was a lovely experience. While the property is a bit on the older side, it more than makes up for it with a cozy atmosphere and excellent service. Waking up to a direct view of the lake from my room was a highlight, as was winding down in the relaxing on-site hot spring. The three-course Japanese dinner was absolutely awesome and offered incredible quality for a very standard price. It’s a perfect, comfortable home base for anyone looking for an authentic stay in Nikko."
