HanTing Hotel (Shanghai Xiangyang Road) Reviews

We absolutely loved our stay. The location: both close to metro station and to French concession’s most hip shops and cafes. The staff is lovely and even helped us with taobao difficulties (special thanks go to 静雯). The room is small but everything is convenient. Amenities smell amazing: natural verbena scent in the style of Aesop. The breakfast is cheap and very good: zhou, hot soy milk, douhua, steamed buns, Shanghai style onion bread, yogurt, fresh fruit, veggies, stews, eggs, noodles… traditional Chinese style (and we love it). Free laundry is a blessing really. Our room was cleaned every time we used a “please make up room” card. Freshly brewed hot herbal tea — always at the front desk. 10/10. Price-quality ratio is just perfect. We hope to come back soon. Thank you, HanTing.

It was a last-minute booking for a double room on the 6th floor. The elevator only goes up to the 5th floor, so I had to walk up one flight of stairs to get to my room. On the plus side, the 6th floor was very quiet. Although the room was small, it had everything I needed and was perfectly adequate for one person.

Super convenient location right by the subway station, with excellent amenities, dining, and shopping all within easy reach. The bathroom was large and very comfortable. Complimentary coffee and tea were a nice touch. The place was also clean and tidy.

Excellent location, very convenient for getting around. The hotel was clean, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. There are plenty of small shops nearby, perfect for a leisurely evening stroll.

I had an exam nearby and booked an hourly room for a quick rest. It was a peaceful haven amidst the bustle, truly relaxing! The room was impeccably clean.

The room was a decent size and very clean. Transportation was very convenient, as it's close to the subway station and several major hospitals. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. A light breakfast was also available in the morning.

Room 220 was dirty and had an unpleasant odor. The absolute worst part was its location right next to a utility platform, meaning the soundproofing was non-existent. It was impossible to get any rest, especially during my afternoon nap, due to constant machine noise. The noise started up again just after 5 AM (I even recorded this and sent it to the manager). Their excuse was that it was a neighbor's garbage truck. I had booked for two nights, but the situation was so unbearable that I was forced to check out early yesterday at 4 PM. Seriously, everyone, avoid Room 220 at all costs – save yourself the headache!

Very disappointed. The booking details didn't specify that the room was on a walk-up floor. After I expressed my displeasure, the front desk begrudgingly 'upgraded' my room. Predictably, it was one of those 'great rooms' located right next to the elevator and facing the noisy street.

I have stayed in a lot of business hotels of this tier in China and this is the one - I will choose no other! This is better than most other Hanting Hotels because it is ACTUALLY QUIET. Not all are created equal, and most biz hotels in this range have paper thin walls and really loud guests, but like others have said, its an actually quiet and comfortable hotel. Fully updated amenities, very comfortable mattress and oversize pillows, thick linens, coffee and tea in the room. Very relaxing stay and will 100% choose this again for my next stay in Shanghai.

Though the room was compact, it was very quiet and spotless. The breakfast was generous and delicious, with a good selection of made-to-order items. For Gaokao candidates, they also offered special perks like late check-out, a complimentary breakfast, and a lucky charm.
