Guest UserIt’s the third time we came to Yufuin. Previously, we stayed in onsen hotels with meals provided. This time we are staying for 2 months in Japan to experience the local life, and Yufuin was our third stop, where we stayed for 6 nights.
The service is top notch. The host responded very quickly whenever I had queries, and very clear instructions for free pick-up were given days before check-in. As we stepped in the house, the air- conditioner had already been turned on there were 3 big bottles of water in the fridge which made us feel so welcome. They collected our trash every day and asked us what we needed.
The guesthouse is an independent unit full of beautiful Japanese decorations. It was sparkling clean and thoughtfully furnished with everything you need. A first-aid box was provided. We were given 12 sets of clean towels and toilet amenities, including toothbrushes. We have stayed in different apartments before and have never experienced this.
More importantly, the kitchen was well equipped with everything—many cutlery items of different sizes and even wine glasses. There were a hot pot and a frying pan, a toaster, rice cooker, coffee machine, and even a dishwasher. You can't imagine there is even a massage chair! The bathroom was designed like an onsen. You can simply add some onsen powder to enjoy a hot bath.
You can easily access different attractions on foot. The location is about a 20-minute walk to the nearby supermarkets, 25 minutes to the main shopping streets, and 30 minutes to the JR station. If you drive, it is even easier. For us, we enjoyed walking and seeing the beautiful scenery, so it was not a problem for us even though we didn’t drive. Every day we walked to the supermarkets and bought fresh produce to cook. We had so much fun making different dishes and hot pot.
When we asked for a whetstone, the host quickly gave us theirs, and the next day, they bought us a new one. They even gave us sake as a gift. On the day of check-out, the host drove us to the JR station and helped us store our luggage in the visitors’ centre.
Next time when we come to Yufuin, we will definitely stay here again. It’s really great value for money.

This hot spring inn is really superb, five detached houses have semi-open-air private baths (real spring water), clean and tidy needless to say, the key is humanity! The bossさん and two female staff are very nice, know dd English. One-night-two is family feel, his fried chicken is delicious. Call the hostel the day before check-in and they will come to the station to drive you and only send you back to the station when you leave. Check-in before 5pm, check-out at 10am. Already missed, will be back again!

Guest UserThe staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious.

It was already 4:30 pm when we entered Yufuin on the first day. The owner had already turned on the air conditioner in our room and provided instructions on how to use the hot springs. He was afraid that we would not be able to visit the attractions before they closed, so he drove us to the fairytale town. Although it was closed in the end, we were familiar with the route. He also helped us check the bus schedule the next day. Thank you!

The landlady warmly welcomed us and provided delicious food, making us feel like we were in a Japanese home. The hotel's exterior and interior had a retro feel, and those who appreciate traditional Japanese culture will definitely love it. When we checked out, the owner even drove us to the station.

The third stop of Japan’s Kitakyushu trip was to Yufuin (part of Oita Prefecture). This time it was a Japanese-style hotel called Ryokan Tatsumi. The hotel is not far from Yufuin JR Station and can be reached on foot.
The entrance to the hotel and the surrounding environment are very good, like a beautiful Japanese garden, peaceful and quiet. There was only an amiable old Japanese mother in charge of the reception, who carefully explained various precautions, including the use of hot springs.
This hotel has its own hot springs, including indoor hot spring pools and outdoor hot spring pools, and they are open 24 hours a day. Especially having a hot spring in the open-air courtyard is very refreshing.
The hotel rooms are also very spacious. The bed is placed directly on the tatami in a completely Japanese style, with Japanese-style yukata and jacket. The various facilities in the room are well coordinated, there is a separate bathroom, the room is overall neat and clean, and the bed is relatively comfortable. The scenery outside is very beautiful when standing in the room. In Yufuin, this is a hotel worth experiencing. Highly recommended.

Guest UserVery good hotel, clean and tidy, hot spring bath is also very good, the geographical environment is quiet. Quite late ~ 9pm to Yufuin, you can also arrange car transfers, breakfast is simple bread and eggs, etc., but it is also very good! I will choose this hotel next time I have the opportunity. thanks

Advantages: 1/In Huaxi Village, the location is excellent, enjoy the tranquil Huaxi Village at night, close to Jinxi Lake. 2/The room is large and the wifi is very fast.
Noteworthy places: 1/checkin The location is not obvious. The road to the hotel is not star-studded in the day. You need to go through the store to get to the room. The shoes you wear are placed on the locker on the basement floor. Change to the hotel slippers on the room, the room is on the second floor, you need to pull your luggage upstairs. The overall feeling is wonderful.
