4-Star Hotels in Yufu

This was my first time staying at this onsen ryokan, and it was a fantastic experience! The ryokan is in a great location, very close to Lake Kinrin, making for an easy stroll. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the common areas were also beautifully designed. The biggest surprise was the private in-room onsen; it was much larger than I expected and incredibly relaxing. The food quality was excellent, and what was even more thoughtful was how attentive the staff were: they carefully checked beforehand to ensure there were no allergens in my food, which made me feel completely at ease. If I get the chance, I'll definitely stay here again!

Because I have some restrictions on my diet, the hotel can help adjust it, and will take the initiative to ask, I feel very good. The hot spring in the room is great, but for the adjustment of the hot spring water temperature, please do not refer to the instructions in the room, because the water from the faucet can only be added cold water, if the hot spring is not hot enough, please call the counter directly, someone will help adjust. The location of the hotel is a climb away from the lively neighborhood. A mountain pepper curry oolong noodles around the hotel are very delicious and highly recommended! There are also some specialty shops around, which are much more interesting than the lively sightseeing street. ～ If you like a quiet environment, it is highly recommended!

Superb location right in the middle of Yufuin main shopping street. Enjoyed the ryokan room with in-room onsen bathtub and the skincare and haircare set provided. Only improvement needed is the dinner and breakfast meal and this ryokan would be the best choice!

Everything was perfect in this hotel! Room is spacious and there are both indoor and outdoor private onsen in the room. The futon was the softest and most comfortable I’ve ever had in Japanese onsen hotels. Dinner was amazing and breakfast was good enough. It would be better if we can choose Japanese or Western style for breakfast. We was looking for grilled fish or sth in Japanese style. Will visit again definitely!

Hotel service facilities: We drove there so we could drive directly to the hotel entrance. The entrance is not big, but there is free parking. In the mountains, the environment is very private and the air is fresh. I came here specifically to experience Japanese-style accommodation and hot springs. There are not many rooms in the whole hotel, and they are very clean. There are public hot springs and private hot springs in the rooms, but there is no place to take a bath in the room, so you need to go to the public hot spring to take a bath. Service: As soon as we arrived at the door of the hotel, two waiters came out to receive us, one to guide and one to help with luggage; we also sat there to check in in the lobby, with wet towels and drinks. We ordered breakfast and dinner, and they were delivered directly to the room at a set time; when we left, there would also be two waiters to greet us. The service is extreme. Food: Very rich and classic Japanese set meals. I don’t eat raw food, so I made arrangements in advance. There are vegetables, fish and seafood, which are very rich. Another point is that it is too close to nature, and occasionally various small animals will greet you 😂

We fell in love with this villa on first sight! The pictures don’t do it justice at all. The surroundings and rooms are beautiful, and the entire property is newly renovated so it’s clean and modern. We appreciate how the host is generous to provide amenities and toiletries, which makes our stay even more memorable.  The bedding is comfortable, and the towels are also of good quality. Additionally, we also enjoyed the washer and dryer, so we can have fresh clean clothes daily! Very thoughtful indeed!  Overall, it’s an amazing stay at Sokaku Residence and we’ll highly recommend you to book a stay here!

All the hotel staff were fantastic! I didn't book the half-board option on Trip.com, but I successfully added it via email, and the staff were very thoughtful, asking about any food allergies. The room was generally very clean, and toiletries were provided. The only slight drawback was the moss in the onsen. The inn also has a car park. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There's a convenience store just a few minutes' drive away, which is super convenient! Already looking forward to my next stay!

Well run resorts with top notch service. Set in a very serene surrounding facing paddy fields and mountains. A great base to explore the outdoor options around the Yufu / Beppu area. The dinners and breakfast meals are relatively ‘formal’ but love the variety of traditional Japanese food and the meticulous service by the crew, especially Tami who speaks very good English and introduced us to many local attractions.

This onsen hotel is great! We opted for the half-board plan (dinner and breakfast included), which was super convenient. Although the hotel is a bit older, everything is very well-maintained. The shower pressure was excellent, and the wet/dry separation in the bathroom was really good. Japanese hotels are always clean, of course. It's also just a 5-minute walk (300 meters) from Yufuin Station. Overall, we were very satisfied with everything! 👍

This boutique ryokan, featuring just 11 rooms, is situated a convenient 5-minute drive from Yufuin Station in a peaceful, rustic residential neighborhood. Our spacious, well-maintained ground-floor room featured a private onsen and offered excellent views of Mount Yufu. For those interested, the communal onsen can also be locked for private use and is kept very clean. The staff is accommodating and polite, and the breakfast and dinner provided in the dining area are outstanding. Complimentary parking is available, and the aromatic tea burner in the room was a very pleasant detail.
