"I'm s little scared because the no one answered the phone but in the end the reception is open 24h. The room isn't bad for the price. Totally clean, only smells a little cigarette, especially to me and my wife don't smoke.
In the end, not a bad choice."

"We had two very good nights, the bedding is of good quality and the breakfast was very good. The staff is attentive.
However, the shower is not very pleasant given the low pressure in it. The view of the main road is not ideal either but for two nights it was not a criterion for us.
We had asked for two drinks when we got home one evening, the order was not at all the right one, certainly because of the language barrier.
Thank you for this very pleasant stay!"

"It is located in the center of Porto, so it is very convenient to go anywhere. There is a big supermarket downstairs, so it is very convenient to buy things. The only problem is that the room is too small and the suitcase cannot be opened at all. That is to say, the price is relatively cheap, but the room is too small. If you are traveling with a family, please be careful when choosing this hotel."

"This is a family-run hotel with an excellent location. The service attitude of the father and son is excellent, and it feels like going home. The restaurant next to the hotel is a retro-style specialty restaurant. There are fado and jazz piano performances in the afternoon and evening. The service is warm, the price is not expensive, and the taste is great! We'll be there every night! A hundred meters walk is the famous Harry Potter Bookstore, and other attractions are not far away on foot. It’s a great travel and accommodation experience!"

Amazing
GGuest UserLast year I had the most wonderful stay at Menina Colina, and was excited to return. Unfortunately I now wish I had reserved elsewhere, as it has been nothing but a disappointment.
Prices are so much higher than a year ago, but I thought I got what was a good deal on the garden room. Turns out it is greatly overpriced for what is offered, as it has none of the exquisite design or attention to detail that the interior rooms have. It also seems to be neglected in terms of maintenance. The coffee machine was leaking, and after reporting it, it was made out to be my fault as I was using it incorrectly. I had to physically show a member of staff the leaked water for them to agree to replace it. I was really annoyed that they felt that they needed to demonstrate to me how it works rather than just replacing it immediately.
The next disappointment was that the room was initially not serviced at all, and no explanation was given. When you are paying $165 for a mediocre room (not even including breakfast), one would at the very least expect the bins to be emptied.
The bathroom also had a terrible smell that permeated the room, and mosquitoes were a problem too.
Management did offer me lunch or attendance of their fado show, but none of these arrangements fitted into my busy programme. I thought a small financial compensation would have made more sense. That did not happen, and nothing further was mentioned or discussed on check-out.
The final issue was the online check-out which they require. When I tried to complete it, my bill was for my entire stay, although 3 of the 4 nights had already been paid months in advance. So my conclusion is unfortunately that Menina Colina’s standards have dropped significantly, and that it is overpriced for the lack of attention to detail that is evident in several areas.
GGuest UserAmazing location, in the middle of everything you need to see & all the restaurants, patios, live music, etc.
The hotel & the room is tiny but that’s expected with a historical place like this.
We stayed in room#2 & it had a window facing the historical wall of this building, so don’t count on much of a view or natural light!
A little bit of uphill but again that’s Porto, you can hardly get around without uphills & downhills!
The owner Maria & the manager Martha are attentive & caring & ensure you have a great experience with your stay.
When we arrived a welcome Portuguese tart was offered which was delicious & also Martha said you can pour yourself Port wine (also super tasty) any time,
GGuest UserPros - Location - easy access to Porto downtown area (3 metro stations to Sao Bento)
- I choose travelling by metro as walking uphill and downhill in Porto is really tiring!
- Room size as well as toilet - spacious enough even for two people, facilities - I like the kettle for boiling hot water.
- Water from the shower very powerful and comfortable.
- 2 bakery cafes nearby for taking breakfast (with reasonable price), one Chinese restaurant nearby provides hot food.
Cons - Did not expect there was nobody at hotel front desk upon my arrival. With the help of a kind lady, I could communicate with the hotel staff
via whatsapps and was able to check in without problem. ( I would like to say thanks to that kind lady)
- No elevator, staying at lower floors is preferrable.
- the room floorings had a cracking sound while walking, may be the building was a little bit old.
MMcClouds MumBest ever decision to book in this hotel after reading many positive reviews. Situated with the tourist attraction area itself with beautiful window view of the Douro river and Luis Bridge. We walked to all the places of interest and even walked across Luis bridge to Gaia. So impressed by the convenient location of this hotel that is closed to all public transport. Even though with all the restaurants and shops below our room, surprising it was very quiet after like 9pm and we had a comfortable sleep.
Many thanks to Diego who checked us in and allowed us to leave our bags to be picked up later.
Photos below were taken from our room window.
Will of course recommend friends or family to book this hotel
GGuest UserIt was an overall great stay. The room was very clean and had enough space for two people, though there was just a slight lack of drawers for clothes. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and spacious, and the climate control system was excellent. Breakfast was enjoyable, featuring a buffet with various foods suitable for Europeans, more than enough to energize us before exploring. I missed having a gym or a space to exercise, but since we were exhausted at the end of each day, it wasn't a big issue.
Lastly, the location and transportation options were also convenient, with bus and metro lines just a 12-minute walk away. This hotel nearly reaches a 4-star rating—100% recommended for visiting Porto in 2-3 days.
OOften TravelerClean and well-located, but AVOID the basement ‘double room’
The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and in a great location with friendly service.
However, I stayed in the basement-level ‘double room’.
It’s located at the front of the property, directly at street level, with two small windows facing the pavement — making it difficult to get fresh air or natural light, and quite noisy due to passing pedestrians and cars, even with the windows shut and earplugs in.
The photos captures many of the other room types charming features, which can be misleading for the double room in basement.
In this particular room, ventilation was poor due to its position, and a musty smell from the bathroom lingered throughout the space.
Given the price of this ‘double room’, it’s better off booking elsewhere — somewhere less charming but more practical — OR booking the other room types I assume are upper-level room to avoid the drawbacks of this front-facing basement unit.
BBitartBeautifully simple suite with a kitchen that saved me money by having all that I needed to make my meals in my own place. Daily cleaning meant I didn't even have to do the dishes. The service here was fantastic, although it would have been helpful to know not to show up at the apartments, but their main desk which was 2 blocks away. This could be clarified in the booking instructions next time. Location is only a 7min walk from the train station. 15 min from the old town center with a small supermarket just 3 blocks away. Check-in was fast, as well as check-out. Secure code to open the main door to the building, with elevator or stairs too.
LLonely Railway ExplorerI travel from Malaysia to Europe all the way by train, please watch my YouTube Lonely Railway Explorer to know more.
Before I booked this hotel, I read a lot of negative reviews in Trip.com, but I know all of the bad reviews are nonsense.
As a professional traveller, I responsible to say, this hotel are worth of money, this room rate with private bath room, double bed, even they prepared safe for guests, and the cleanliness are 9/10, and just opposite the railway station, metro, location 10/10.
If you stay here, I recommend you have your meal at restaurant just next-door before here, Churrasqueira da Estação de Campanhã, the grill and the rice you definitely need it, especially if you're Asian, but non halal.
I will rate this hostel 9/10, because no hairdryer, and the bed sheet got smell, I think is because no sunlight.
And the front desk family super kind.
EEmilyI recently spent four nights at Aparthotel Oporto Sol, and while my stay was overall okay, it came with a few drawbacks.
First, the location is a bit outside the main area of Porto, which required some extra effort to get into the heart of the city. While the surroundings were quiet and less crowded, I did find myself relying on public transport or taxis more than I would have liked.
One of the main issues was the absence of air conditioning in the bedroom. During my stay, the temperatures were warm, and it made things uncomfortable at night. Opening the windows was not an option due to the presence of mosquitoes outside, which meant I struggled to find a comfortable sleeping temperature.
On the positive side, the apartment itself was spacious and generally clean. The amenities were adequate for my needs, and the staff was friendly and helpful, albeit a few blocks over. I appreciated the kitchenette, which allowed me to prepare some of my own meals during my stay.
In summary, while my stay at Aparthotel Oporto Sol had its merits, the lack of air conditioning and its location outside the main area impacted my overall experience. If you're sensitive to heat or prefer to be in the city center, you may want to consider other options. Otherwise, it serves as a decent accommodation for those seeking a quieter spot.
HHuajiaojuncaoのjimofangxinThe location is better, close to the core scenic spot; convenient transportation, the subway station is out; the surrounding facilities are good, the three supermarkets are only two or three hundred meters; the room is small but clean, the layout is reasonable, and the breakfast is good.
