This is your new home, in Chania Merging the old with the new, this is the place where history is translated into a new urban hot spot. Relax in the comfort of a fresh lifestyle hub The Chania Hotel is a passion project that breathed new life into a historic city landmark. Once called simply "Chania Hotel", this fifties beauty patiently remained silent until its recent, complete renovation into a fascinating 5-Star hotel. Nestled in Chania city centre, right in the heart of 1866 Square, this sustainability-focused hotel is, fittingly, the exact spot where the vibrating youthful city meets the old port. Rich in tradition, the hotel's rooms are decorated with vintage photos of the region, while the communal areas and suites feature distinctive names that reflect its historic symbolism. A breathtaking merge of mountainous landscapes endows the hotel with spectacular views, best enjoyed with a glass of wine on the roof garden, situated on the fourth floor. This is a fast-paced city hotel, ideal for summer holidays in the city, since it is right at the centre, very close to the port and the market, as well as minutes away from exquisite beaches such as Nea Chora. This way, it serves as cozy love nest for couples or a chic starting point for exciting group and family explorations around the island. Business travellers can also find, here, a place to relax and indulge in the luxury of traditional Cretan hospitality at its best.
"The location of the hotel is definitely very good and a plus point.
We were greeted in a friendly manner and the lady at the bar gave us a welcome drink. The hotel looks quite high-quality at the entrance and you feel like you're in good hands. I would say it's not 5-star level, but around 3.5-4 absolutely.
The room we were given unfortunately had no windows (the description said there was one). No problem for us. Our biggest criticism is that there was no door in the shower because it had been removed. So you couldn't shower properly without water spraying outside. When we told reception, they just said ”we didn't know” and preferred to answer the ringing phone and leave the guest standing there. Who would know if not the hotel, so unfortunately it's far from 5-star service. We expected a small apology and that the problem would be taken care of. I think it's a real shame that you pay so much money and then get a room that doesn't meet the standard and isn't really at the level you want it to be given to guests. Luckily we only spent one day here and had previously spent the week in a real 5-star hotel.
I can really only give this hotel 3/5 stars overall."
