Rubi Tulum

Wow, just wow. You know, just once in a while you come across a hotel from which you think; ahhh, am not sure but it looks good. We had that with Rubi Tulum. Tulum is being developed so you’ll drive through a lot of construction and construction guys. Some dirt roads, but then we finally made it. A deep sigh and we stept out. And really, when you are there, you feel at home. They take your bags to your house. We had the penthouse. Which consists of a room where you enter, the living room/kitchen. A floor down is the bedroom which is really spacious, with a stand alone tub. And one floor above the outdoor living room with a plungepool (not a swimming pool but big enough for 6 grown men). And above that they made an extra terrace where you can lay and enjoy a 360 degrees view. But the service and amenities are amazing. We have been in hotels all over the world but this hotel delivered way more service then you would expect for the amount of money they charge. The turndownservice is so romantic. The restaurant in the hotel is made by the waiter, Diego give a good options. Yes it feels a bit pricy but that is everything in Tulum. If i may give you an suggestion go for the burger. The best one i ever had, hands down. Rachel the owner has done a really good job at setting this hotel up. They are only operational since april so still in upstart fase. But damm, i could live in this place.

Mixed reviews and feelings on this hotel... in general the apartments are clean, a good size, cleaners are friendly... we didn’t use the pool even though it looked nice it didn’t get any sun as it’s shadowed by two hotels, maybe a different time of year you can lay out in the sun, I’m not sure? This isn’t the hotel fault BUT literally 2 ft away directly next to Live Tulum is huge construction work going on, it’s the loudest concrete drilling I’ve ever heard and the floor was shaking, they’ve only just started the foundations so this work is right at the beginning stages of what looks like a new hotel being built next door. It wouldn’t have been too much of a problem if my GF wasn’t working remotely for 4 hrs every morning... it starts at 9am on the dot so if you’re up and out of the hotel for the day it’s probably nothing to worry about. We were miss sold on the free breakfast and not refunded that we booked through booking .com. The hotel said booking .com shouldn’t have advertised the free breakfast but that was one of the reason we chose this place over another hotel, we wasn’t reimbursed any money but was given a free bottle of Prosecco for the troubles which was nice... so just a heads up because of Covid there is No breakfast or free bike rentals at advertised. I think we were just unlucky and on another visit I’m sure the hotel would have been a way better experience, it’s wasn’t all bad. The location is at the better end of down town and you can walk to everywhere downtown... the Mayan Ruins near the beach took us 40 minutes to walk to and a taxi to the Hotel Zone will cost between $200pesos - $400peso each way depending how are down the zone you go. 7/10 is a fair rating.

The landlord is very good. Not bad. We have encountered difficulties in staying. The landlord fell asleep. We waited outside for a long time. The two girls were a bit dangerous to be honest. The taxi driver and the police behind helped us wake up the landlord hahahaha.

Such a wonderful stay and overall experience. Perfect stay to be in downtown Tulum and a bang for your buck. Our hotel manager was very responsive and attentive of all of our needs. Unfortunately, our private pool got dirty from the rain, but she quickly cleaned it and was ready in a few hours. Even simple as needing more pillows. Our room was super clean and loved how their cleaning staff would come everyday to clean the floors and re-make the bed. Since the floors would get dirty from our shoes and such. Oh and they would set new towels for us as well. Truly grateful for the free parking. And there’s usually available parking. However… PLEASE KEEP IN MIND about the roads. They are really super bad and terrible to drive in with deep potholes but we managed. Just drive super slow and careful especially during the rain. I wouldn’t recommend to drive late at night since it may be a little too hard to see. Check in was super easy and quick. The front desk will check for your reservation and then will connect you to speak with their manager or whoever your rental manager is. Our manager gave us tips and offered to help schedule restaurant reservations or beach reservations in the popular Tulum area which is by the beach. The Location was only about 5-10 minutes from the main downtown Tulum area. I would say 10 minutes because we would drive very slow due to the roads. There is also a taco stand down the street which is only about a 5 minute walk. Lastly, the amenities… the pool was seriously breathtaking. Haven’t seen a circular shaped pool like that with such an astonishing view. We saw there was a small gym but we didn’t have the time to use it but at least it’s an option. We would highly recommend this beautiful stay and we would definitely come stay again. I would highly recommend to stay in downtown Tulum than the main Tulum road by the beach. Save money and just rent a car. Best way to visit all of the fun cenotes and different areas of Tulum.
Bahia Principe Grand Tulum - All Inclusive

I did not want to write this post but as tui and the Grand bahia princess tulum will take no responsibility or owner ship of there bed bug infestation in rooms I now feel I have to make this public knowledge. We stayed in tulum in villa 2 apartment 0225 for two weeks this was a nightmare holiday. The whole time we was there we was being eaten alive for the first week the convinced us it was mosquitoes and then we noticed it was while we was in bed. We reported this to the reception, quest relations the cleaners and the tui rep on site. We showed th evidence when we had jad enough of being fob off and laughed at from the hotel staff. It took them over 24 hours to listen and move us room. They did not inspect the room properly. We was present when this was done there was numerous bugs on all the walls and the mattress had all the signs of a bed bug infestation. They did not speak English so we could understand what they was saying and all left the room with no fumigation nor did the follow hotel policy with checking our belongings. The moved us into room 0125 villa one. They made sure they sprayed the mattress even though the hotel supervisor lalie and guest relationship manager kevin said mexico does not have bed bugs so when I asked why jabe they sprayed the bed they yet again laughed and avoided the question. Please share this post and avoid at all cost. The hotel main buffet restaurant has birds and cotis and raccoons inside. You will have to clean your dining chairs as they have bird poo and food from where they wipe the tables and not the chairs. When it rains numerous roofs leaks which we see plenty of people slip and hurt themselves due to this. Please share this post as this is not a 5 star resort. Tui and the Bahia Principe should be naked and shamed we don't work hard and save up for a holiday to feel you are not listened to or treated fair. I made a complaint with tui they opened and closed my cases numerous times to then pass me through to the legal teams for them to come back with a complete lie. When asking for the full reports of there investigation they said I am not able to have this information. When we left the room 0225 all the did was send the cleaners in and to my surprise they moved a family in the room the next day. No fumigation had happened. Shame on them. I will be taking this higher as this is not fair nor right. As mentioned you don't go on holiday for that treatment and to pay to be placed in a infested room. Please beware and think twice. Please feel free to share this post as this needs to be know to paying customers.

We enjoy this hotel so much we have stayed every time we are in Tulum! The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, the jungle view is beautiful. We have stayed in many of the different rooms but our favorite is the one bedroom suite with balcony. The terrace suite is nice too, but the terrace isn’t covered so when it rains you lose that space. We love how accommodating and friendly the staff are. I think I lost something every day we were there last time (swimsuit coverup, sandals, car keys) and they were right there to make sure I was reunited with my items. The breakfast staff was great, they made sure you had everything you wanted and again, always a smile to great you. The bar staff was excellent also, we mainly ate at the downstairs bar and had our food delivered poolside. It didn’t take long for them to know our favorites! Make sure you take advantage of the 2 free drinks and the twentyish dollars in credit you get each night. The rooftop pool is reserved for adults, but during the day if no one is up there, they did allow our son to get in (he is 10). The rooftop pool is great, it is an infinitely edge looking out at the jungle. The downstairs pool feels more intimate. The housekeeping staff is also on point, we often only have housekeeping when we need it, a few days in to our stay usually, but the day we had it done everything was perfect upon our return, and the toys my son had bought were cutely arranged on his bed (which they also made up properly for us!). The location is great for nearby restaurants (which I found to be better than the ones on the beach) and renting a car or scooter. Take advantage of the lagoon snorkeling trip they offer as well, you have to rent the snorkel gear but the entrance fee and the transportation fee are included. In Tulum transportation so expensive!! We did not do the beach transportation but they do offer that. They also have a laundry facility! We brought detergent and quarters with us. If we were to come back to Tulum we would stay here again.
