"This is a lovely hotel right on the ocean. We really enjoyed our stay. A bonus for us was getting to sea turtles come ashore on their beach to lay their eggs. It was amazing"

📍 KM 4.5, Av. Boca Paila, Zona Hotelera, Tulum

"To be honest, this hotel would be better than the Azulik next door if you didn’t like the original ecology so much."

📍 Carr. Tulum a Boca Paila Km. 7.5 Zona Costera, Tulum

"A charming resort right by the beach. My room has the most amazing sunrise view. But do take note, it’s an eco-friendly resort, so there’s no phone, TV or minibar. Every request is done through WhatsApp. Its own restaurant has quite the menu to sate your appetite, though there are tons of eateries outside on the main street. The best place to relax and switch off from the world."

📍 Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 4.4, Zona Hotelera Tulum, Zona Hotelera, Tulum

"Come to Mezzanine to disconnect. It is a little piece of heaven within walking distance of the Tulum archaeological site. The oceanfront rooms are a dream. The food is exquisite, the drinks are elevated, and everything is a visual delight. There are no TVs – trust me, it’s a good thing."

📍 Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila km 1, Tulum

"You can hear the sound of waves all the way to your room, so you can feel the great outdoors. The only disappointing thing was that there was a charge for water in the room. Tap water was free, but I was grateful that bottled water was also free. Overall, I'm very satisfied because I can see the sea from my room. There were a lot of mosquitoes and I got bitten a lot, so I recommend bringing insect repellent spray."

"Very good Hotel in the central area of Tulum, the room was excellent, the pool space was very pleasant (they give you towels at reception) and all the facilities were very clean."

"The only point to consider, which is not the fault of the hotel, are the high values charged by taxi drivers in the end of the year to go from the hotel to the beach, about 300/400 Mexican pesos, 17-22 dollars."

Hotel Shibari - Restaurant & Cenote Club Hotels in Tulum

Hotel Shibari - Restaurant & Cenote Club

"First of all the service was beyond bad, it’s as if the staff never communicated with eachother. Upon arrival, we got asked if we were celebrating anything, to which we said yes as it’s our fifth anniversary, and they said they would arrange a surprise for us the next day. We finished our stay without any surprise or acknowledgment as to what had happened, it was just forgotten. They would ask us every day if it was our first time at breakfast, ask about allergies and so on, which on your fifth day at the hotel makes it feel very impersonal. The hotel is also very restrictive in when you can use their amenities, which is laughable when they have no direct beach access. Their pool only opens 11am-6pm, their bikes (which are in horrible shape) can only be hired 9am-6pm…it felt like being at a school camp instead of an alleged 5-star hotel. You are stranded on a street with nothing to do, no signal outside of the hotel, no free beach access and a whopping $40 to get to the town center (which is a 15min drive away). To put the cherry on top, we got called to our room on our last night asking when we would like our bags collected for check-out, they said it was arranged…and it never was. We also never got asked if we had a nice stay upon leaving, nothing. They truly don’t seem to care. Honestly, save yourself the trouble."

"This place is gorgeous and the service is impeccable! Perfect location for people who like daytime on the beach and nightlife. The AC was great to have in the room as it gets very hot and humid in Tulum. Truly all around great place!"

La Zebra Tulum, a Small Luxury Hotel ★★★★
"The location is great. The parking lot is just opposite the hotel. The room is a 2-minute walk from the beach. The beach is wide and there are few tourists. I saw the most beautiful sunrise. The large balcony is surrounded by green plants and is very suitable for sunbathing. It is quieter than other hotels at night. The double shower can take a shower at the same time. The hotel thoughtfully prepared three large bottles of drinking purified water and a woven bag for going out... I like Tulum starting from the hotel."

"Great little hotel. All rooms are just a few meters from the beach and very centrally located in the middle of the promenade. There are numerous restaurants and cafes nearby. One small drawback: Beach service doesn't start until 10:00. You can use the sun loungers before then, but there are no umbrellas available."

Casa Malca ★★★★★
"It's been almost a week since I left Tulum, and even amidst a busy work week, I still often recall the memories of my stay at Casa Malca in Tulum. It was a spontaneous trip, leaving little time for hotel research. I started looking for the most expensive hotels, the ones with the best services, the ones with the highest reviews, and so on, but nothing really struck a chord. Then, I stumbled across a few listings for Casa Malca on Xiaohongshu. The photos of Casa Malca gave it a museum-like feel, and the seaside setting was elegant—not luxurious or mass-market, but rather unique and unique, evoking a sense of escape. My intuition told me it was the right one, and I quickly booked three nights there. After flying from my busy work city to Cancun, I drove two hours to Casa Malca, feeling exhausted. I felt like I hadn't quite escaped reality yet, perhaps because I still had a serious look on my face when I entered the hotel. As I slowly made my way to the hotel lobby, a mysterious feeling arose. When I arrived at the front desk, I was greeted by the incredibly warm and charming smile of Yair, the handsome receptionist. I felt instantly warmed. Because I was there specifically for my birthday, the hotel even upgraded my room and decorated it. These unexpected surprises instantly transported me to a place of bliss and joy. During my three-day stay, I enjoyed the Egg White Omlette breakfast, which surpassed any hotel breakfast in the world. It was incredibly clean and healthy, with an incredibly rich variety of vegetables, and it was beautifully presented. I still miss it. Although I don't usually eat pastry, the restaurant waiter brought it to me, and I tried my favorite carrot cake, which was also delicious. The pool is also beautifully designed. This place would be perfect for weddings and parties; it felt like it belonged to me. I must thank Yair for his attentive service and charming smile, making my lonely birthday trip so warm and joyful. The staff here made me feel like they were genuinely smiling, not just doing their job for the sake of work. The two are completely different. In an era where new decoration designs are emerging one after another, sincere and thoughtful service and smiles will add hidden but very important points to the overall experience."

Azulik ★★★★
"Dear Trip.com Customer Support, I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at Azulik, which was booked through Trip.com. My husband and I stayed at the property for four nights. This stay was especially meaningful to us because visiting Azulik had been a dream of mine for many years. The hotel’s architecture and aesthetics are indeed beautiful and consistent with the images presented online. However, despite the visual appeal of the property, the overall guest experience fell far below expectations, especially considering the hotel’s pricing and reputation. Our disappointment began at check-in. Upon arrival, the concierge assigned to us was assisting another guest, which we completely understand can happen. However, we were then left sitting in the heat for approximately 40–50 minutes without guidance, assistance, or even a glass of water being offered. The hotel layout is confusing for first-time guests, and no one explained how the property operated or where we could go while waiting. When the concierge eventually arrived, the interaction felt rushed. We were quickly shown the room and told that information would be sent via WhatsApp. While a message was sent, it was clearly a generic template and did not replace a proper introduction to the hotel or its services. No explanation was provided regarding facilities, restaurants, or guest experiences. In fact, we only discovered the gym after already staying at the hotel for two days. Another disappointing experience involved the “energy cleanse” offered to guests. We had to ask about it ourselves because it was never explained during check-in. Once at the spa, there was again no explanation of what the experience involved or what to expect. We were simply told to close our eyes, and the experience lasted barely one to two minutes before ending abruptly. What should have felt meaningful instead felt impersonal and poorly organized. Additionally, while visiting the rooftop sunset area, I ordered a Coca-Cola and was told by staff that they preferred not to serve it because it was located at another bar downstairs and “too far away” to retrieve. I was asked to order something else instead, which I found surprising given the level at which Azulik positions itself. Beyond these individual incidents, the overall atmosphere throughout our stay felt cold and unwelcoming. Most staff members would not greet us unless we greeted them first, and there was very little sense of hospitality or attentiveness. At times, the experience felt more transactional than guest-focused. We also repeatedly felt uncomfortable when returning to the hotel after going out during the day or evening. Each time we re-entered the property, we felt as though staff questioned whether we were actually guests staying there, both through repeated questioning and the manner in which we were approached. While we understand that security procedures are important, the interactions often felt unnecessarily suspicious rather than welcoming. I want to emphasize that I was not expecting extraordinary treatment. However, at this price point, guests should reasonably expect attentive hospitality, clear communication, and a welcoming atmosphere. Overall, while the property itself is undeniably beautiful, the service experience did not match the hotel’s reputation or cost. Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable stay became disappointing due to repeated service failures and lack of guest care. I would appreciate it if Trip.com could review this experience and provide an appropriate resolution in light of the issues described above. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to your response. Kind regards, Cristina"

Kan Hotel Tulum ★★★
"The hotel is beautiful, very jungle like feeling, peaceful and quiet. Love the little cenote. Would be nice if there was a variety of food. Only 1 restaurant, small menu, and it opens 8am so you can't get coffee/tea. The rooms dont have anything to make tea/coffee, So you'd need to head out, there's a nice French bakery 5mins walk away. The location is a little remote but with a,scooter or atv you can get to the beach or town in 15-20mins."
