Hotel Città di Milano

Venice|0.07km from La Fonderia Artistica Valese
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, I had read all kinds of reviews but here is my honest review from a well traveled individual. I had heard the hotel was a nightmare to find but we didn’t think it was that bad, we had flown into Marco pollo airport and bought a return bus fare so decided to walk from the bus terminal to the hotel, it was a nice walk we stopped at a cafe on the way for breakfast which was nice. We soon came to the Rialto bridge and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from here, Google maps led us straight there, it is down some quirky back streets but we remembered where it was and didn’t get lost again. So we checked in, we paid €14 cash for the room tax for the two nights. So on arrival take a photo of the Wi-Fi password and door code which is on the desk so if you get back late you can just let yourself in. You are given a big heavy key for your room just hand it in when you go out. The room was clean and Venetian style, 2 single beds pushed together, dressing table, large mirror and wardrobe. In the wardrobe there was a mini fridge and safe but we didn’t use these. The en-suite had a jacuzzi bath, toilet, sink and soap, shower gel was provided. There was a tv on the wall and consisted of Italian Channels, I don’t come to a city like Venice to sit in a room and watch tv so didn’t bother me. Breakfast was included and this is located on the 3rd floor, smallish room which also has an outdoor terrace. I’m presuming this room may also be a bar in the evening as there was alcohol behind the counter. So the breakfast is continental and consisted of bread, croissants, cereal, yogurt, meats, cheese, juices and there were jam and chocolate spread and you could order coffee. Basic breakfast but everything is fresh and puts you on until lunch time. So in Venice you are not gong to find modern hotels with modern furnishings, most are vintage Venetian at their best and this adds to the charm and character of Venice. The staff on the front desk were polite as was the lady at breakfast. The location is great, just 5 minute walk to the Rialto bridge and if you go the other way it’s 5 minutes walk to st marks square. You also have lots of shopping on your door step and there are so many bars and restaurants about, you can do Venice on a budget as there are lots of little cheap bakery’s or pasta/pizza shops. We were out in restaurants both nights, for a 2 course meal with drinks and wine you are looking at around €80 for 2. It is walkable if you are capable and it’s great just exploring and looking around. Remember there are lots of bridges where ever you go. We just took a backpack so we didn’t have any issues. It is also worth buying the actv travel pass whist you are there, this gets you on the bus from the airport and vapereto around the city and we also used it to go to burano for lunch. You will love Venice x

Ca' Del Campo

I like it very much and I have recommended it to my friends. The outside of the hotel is very well-maintained, the facilities are very good, there is a very good smell in the air, the service staff is very warm, the breakfast is simple, but it is very particular, and finally eat hot bread. The palatial feel of the room decoration. The wall covering of the full house. Specially designed for Italian decoration. The single room that was occupied on the National Day, more than 800, the price is good. I also came across a wedding photo with a good mood.

Great hotel at just 150 meters from San Marco Square. Great and friendly staff at reception. The location is very close to all the attraction but in a very quiet street. Very nice of the hotel to offer a discount on purchase in their Patisserie, next door (probably the most famous in Venice). Great room in modern style and very well decorated. Will definitely come back next time!

The location is very central, very close to St. Mark's Square, the hotel is very small, it feels like two or three floors... Everyone who sees breakfast every day is almost the same, breakfast is simple but OK, reception is Italian Grandpa accent is very heavy, but people are very good, the keys are very simple, the hotel is in the left position of the third picture, go out is the commercial street
San Marco Suite 755

There are many really good things about this place: - it is in an excellent location about mid-point between San Marco and the Rialto so it was easy to get to everything. It is very close to a canal so if you take a water taxi when you arrive you can be dropped off at the Splendid Hotel which is just a few steps away. - we have travelled a lot and stayed in many places but few have been as clean as this one. Our suite featured all ivory coloured furniture which was mainly in good condition as were the floors, bathroom, and everything else. We liked the modern decor in the traditional setting of the old building. - In an apartment we don’t expect daily things but someone came once a day to deliver more coffee and a few other breakfast things (not a full breakfast but nice to have a few extras). They also took out the trash and, if you are there for a while, they provide a change of towels and bed linens (one refresh during our 1 week stay) - they provided bath robes, slippers, and the suite had a safe as well as AC - the bed was great as was the shower (although it was small it worked well) -The reservation staff are excellent - they were very responsive and helpful even when there was a day without anyone at reception meaning they had to step in and respond to emails to deal with questions and concerns. - Housekeeping staff are very friendly Given all of this, it’s fair to ask why my rating is not 5 stars. There are a few reasons: 1. Too many kitchen basics were missing: For example, there were no tea towels to dry dishes with, no small knife (paring knife size), no tongs or things to making turning hot things over easy, salt but no pepper, etc. I didn’t expect a full kitchen but I did hope to get enough to do some simple, basic cooking. As it was I had to find a kitchen store and pick some of what was missing. 2. The reception staff person seemed to lack some understanding of customer service so while resolved, issues were met with excuses and a sense they were a real inconvenience to respond to. 3. While the two above are easy to address, the biggest issue is harder to overcome: there is no lift (although we wondered if it might be possible to add a small one in the central area of the stairs). The website clearly says there is no lift but I don’t recall being forewarned that an apartment on the 2nd floor requires a climb up 50 steps and one on the 3rd floor is up 67 steps. It’s a very long climb several times a day after walking around Venice for hours. Plus, getting luggage up all those stairs is not easy especially as there was no one to help. 4. The noise level in the apartment was greater than anticipated. It was amazing how loud the footsteps of the people upstairs were and while the entrance to the building is off of a very quiet little street, all of the windows in the apartment faced a busy sidewalk that was noisy at night. So, while this place has some extremely positive features, we won’t be back as while we are fit, th

Splendid Venice - Starhotels Collezione

The splendid hotel is in a fantastic location. It’s a short walk to the Rialto bridge and a little farther will put you at St. Mark’s Square. The staff is very friendly and the hotel has a comfortable and clean ambiance. While some places may have more ornate surroundings, the cost/value of the splendid is outstanding. Important tip - make sure to take time to visit the rooftop bar and sitting area. While the bar was only open in the evening, we took the opportunity to spend some time there in the morning and once in the afternoon. It’s a beautiful panoramic view where you can see the sun rise, listen to the church bells or maybe even a local opera singer warming up.
