The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C.

West End
The price was fair, the location was exactly where we needed it. Valet was strong, front desk very nice, maintenance quick. I had a quiet night of sleep. Cookies in the evening was a nice touch. What I didn’t like was the tiny shower….with that one tiny shelf. Smallest Ritz shower I ever had. It had one head, with controls that was no more than on and off. Also - I never use hotel tvs but this time we tried. Tv went in and out, no signal at all. I heard that there is no gym….they give you a discount to the one next door but none included in the room rate and no gym in the hotel. This was very surprising. What hotel doesn’t have a gym these days? Anyway, our 2 rooms were fine. Would I go back - certainly for the right price…but this hotel isn’t build for leisure.

The staff is amazing. It was raining one night while walking to dinner and the front desk gave me her own personal umbrella to use. Our flight was cancelled and booking an extra night stay was very easy and the staff was so accommodating. The rooms were great too. There is no view, but the layout of the rooms are pretty great and quiet. The ”06” rooms are the best in the hotel and I would request this room on any floor. The location is a block from metro stations. Also walking distance to white house and many restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

Not staying at other hotels in Washington, may not be objective. This hotel is more expensive, the service is general, the room is very small and very small, the room window arranged for me is a dark window, the indoor ventilation is poor, the bed is small (the waiter said it is a big bed room, but only 1.5 meters wide), even wifi has to charge, It is free to apply with the waiter. Cleaning the room attendant is quite good. Maybe the location is better, but it is recommended to stay a little farther. After all, uber is very convenient.

I booked a night here after buying a ticket to see a drag show at Lincoln Theater. It was super convenient to that location (30 minute walk, 10 minute drive). Amarri at the front desk checked me in and gave me the rundown of the place. After a longer than expected drive from NY it was really nice to be greeted with such friendly and inviting energy. For a quick dinner, I had their signature burger and wedges. It was pretty tasty, a little greasy and the wedges were falling apart but it got the job done. Only note: have bbq sauce on hand! The room was really nice and clean; the bathroom had a lot of counter and storage space and it had two different heads in the shower. I appreciated how cozy yet modern the room felt with a side table and chair with a bench and desk combo as well that allowed me to spread out my belongings. Oh! I'm one of those people that carry a water bottle around so I was delighted to see signs for a hydration station on my floor that dispensed water, ice or both (and it's that crunchy ice that is commonly referred to as nugget cubes).

Foggy Bottom
My first room was ok until the lights started flickering and wouldn't turn off. The TV n remote then malfunctioned. So i went to the front desk and De'Angelo helped us. He sent a staff up top check it out. After thr engineer came up, he left to tell De'Angelo to switch or room. So they did, but only thing they had available was a downgraded room, so he put in some notes for us and got us comped a room with a balcony for out last night's stay. He and the night staff are excellent and he's only been here a short while. Now the day staff on other hand was terrible. Went t.i grint desk at 11 to inquire about our room upgrade, and was told it's being prepared, but we didn't get switched until about 4pm. We had an itinerary that we couldnt complete due to us waiting for our room switch. Also asked room service for 2 sets of silverware, and they brought them up about an hour and a half later, and also entered our room without notice while iwas in the shower. So when u come to the Watergate, your night experience will be way more enjoyable then dealing with day staff.
The River Inn

Foggy Bottom
We’ve been going to the River inn for over 35 years and as always, had a wonderful time. A special thanks to Bettina and Brandy, at the front desk, for ensuring that we got a spacious room facing the charming tree lined street. The River Inn, all suites, offers the absolute best location ( and value) in Foggy Bottom, with an array of restaurants, lively GW campus, Metro only 3 blocks away, quick walk to Georgetown and a nice stroll down to the Lincoln Memorial.
