The location is very advantageous, it takes 10 minutes to walk to the train station, the breakfast is plentiful, and the room is very large

The Grand Hotel boasts an excellent location, making it a convenient choice for exploring the city. The facilities are top-notch, offering a blend of luxury and comfort that one would expect from a prestigious establishment.
However, the service fell short of expectations, especially considering its five-star rating. While it may be due to the busy tourist season, the level of service provided was inconsistent. In particular, the doormen and porters left a lot to be desired, with some interactions being notably poor. This detracted significantly from the overall experience, as such issues are not expected at a hotel of this caliber.
Overall, while the hotel's amenities and location are commendable, the service quality needs improvement to truly match the standards of a five-star hotel.

Brilliant experience. What a great hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and kept to a very high standard.
Free access to the spa is a really plus!

The location of the hotel is perfect, because it gets you to the train station in less than 5 minute walk, and it’s 5 mn walk from the York Minster and the city center, without the business of the central streets. The rooms are very spacious, and (surprisingly) modern! The spa could use some renovation, but I think this is the best option in York :)

We have stayed at the Grand many times. This time we were allocated a classic room but the carpet was covered in stains. We asked to be moved and were told only executive rooms were available and was chargeable. So left with little choice but to upgrade.
