Yufuin Hotel Shuhokan Reviews

Not far from the train station and attractions, both are about a ten-minute walk away. The hotel is spacious and clean. Although it's a single person tatami room, it's quite large, and there's a beautiful view outside the window. The onsen's opening hours are very traveler-friendly, allowing you to enjoy a soak before midnight and in the early morning. I'll definitely come again next time!

Pros: Dinner was ramen with gyoza at the restaurant which tasted good. Staff were friendly. Onsen onsite was good. Nice view and countryside vibes. Cons Location was quite a distance from the station, recommended to travel light if staying there. Heating was on in autumn with no option to change to aircon despite the weather outside being a mere 14 degrees.

The hospitality was incredible from the moment we arrived, and the property itself is very charming. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize beforehand that guests with tattoos are not allowed in the onsen or sauna, which limited my overall experience and prevented me from enjoying it fully. Dinner was delicious, but I was a bit surprised that at least one beer was not included, only soft drinks were, and I had to pay extra for it. The room was beautifully arranged, although the view was not very special since it faced a Daihatsu parking lot. We noticed a small detail with the cleaning, but overall everything was very good and I truly appreciated the warm service.

The materials in Japanese style room was very old and got a bad smell for the mat, really not recommend. The only good thing is the breakfast.

The hotel serves very delicious dinner! The fried rice was especially good. We were very satisfied with the meal and staff. The rooms were very spacious but a bit dated.

Hotel is a bit far away from train station I suggest to provide bicycle rental for guests

Staff are very nice, with traditional style of old onsen hotel, need 12 to 15 mins walk from public transport station, the hotel does not have shuttle bus service, but there are daiso, aeon supermarket and convenience store nearby, and great natural mountain view, the dinner is delicious and full.

A bit far from the main road but walkable. Relaxing environment with enjoyable onsen, spacious room. The dinner was meh, but acceptable given their service provided.

Good hotel but a bit hard to find it at Yufuin

Very nice well kept traditional ryokan. If you are expecting modern do not stay here. Hotels like these are older and have been around for many years but are well maintained. I love sleeping on tatami - I slept for 10 hours! Unfortunately I felt a bit dumbfounded when the dinner included is just ramen. On the trip.com photos there are two photos of meals and I assumed one was dinner and the other breakfast. Maybe this use to be the case but trip/ the hotel should specify better what is being served. Especially in small towns there aren’t many dinner options - there is an Aeon (supermarket) a short walk of course if you’d like a bento dinner instead. Also no wifi in the room. As an international traveler I had to up my esim data for the day. They don’t advertise wifi in the room - they have it in the lobby so it wouldn’t be hard to get an extender to the rooms. The onsen was nice however I found the outside onsen made a lot of noise- I’ve been to many onsen and this was the first that ever made noise from the filter so it wasn’t as relaxing as it could have been. Overall decent stay but probably wouldn’t go back

All of Staffs are friendly and helpful Amenities are very enough and the meal is good I love the Hot spring here❤️ So enjoy and relax at the hotel
